Hey guys!

70 Series HZJ75 Diesel Land Cruiser Off Roading In America Hey guys! This is my son Taylor’s 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser. It’s a rare import with Left Hand drive and standard diesel engine (without turbo). It’s our first outing together and just some phone camera clips I pieced together. His build up is taking shape rather quickly with the help of our friends at Cruiser Outfitters, and Equipt Expe...

Hey gang! This is not a “how to” it’s a “how I did it”. I should also make mention that as a guy with just a 1/2 ton full sized truck, a 2018 Tundra, it was kind of only AFTER I installed this system that my education of proper trailer loading began! As I show in the video, my new tilt deck trailer is an absolute beast, and as it turns out it’s WAY overkill for this truck. More on that in anoth...

I have the same issue, do you know how to reset the warning messages? Thanks
This fixed worked for our steps that haven't worked in 6 months. Thank you so much for this content.
Amp steps cost the most and they use the cheapest plastic parts available. It’s ridiculous.
Great video. The issue though, that by this you're not fixing the problem, but just applying work-around to ignore the root cause. The serpentine naturally worn out after 100K+ miles. Replacement is the best way, otherwise if the belt snaps, it will cause much serious and costly problems.
Did you see my follow up video where I recommend this exact procedure? ONLY replacing with a quality OEM Toyota belt, and why? Give it a watch. And you’re right. This is for someone that might be in a pinch. 🤏🏼
@@AdventureTEQ Thank you. I'll check it out.
LOVE IT!!! Are those tires 33/11.5r15?
33 10.5 R15 Nice and narrow!
I meant to type 10.5 I don’t think there is such a thing as 33/11.5 haha. I have 32/11.5r15 Cooper STT Pros on my 85’ pickup straight axle. But I’m having issue getting a full tread patch for daily driving. I’m down to like 18-20psi & I’m still not getting the outer lugs to make asphalt contact. I’m definitely going for 33/10.5 next tire set. The 7” stock rims are just too narrow for 11.5 tires IMO.
Excellent thank you, I've had a 06 100 for 12 years and i won't trade it for anything 😝👍💯💯💯💯💯
The last year! I bet she’s real nice! 🙌🏻
Excellent diagnostic challenge,🤔😝😁👍💯💯💯💯💯🇺🇲
Thanks!
Did you had codes . Do you remember them
Sorry but I don’t recall there being any codes.
Great video, love the shop shirt!!🤘
🙌🏻
thanks so much for this video! My driver's side was making the same terrible noise, and had the same issue. I never would have attempted fixing it until I saw your video, and was contemplating just getting some new steps - it works great now after fixing on saturday.
That’s great news! I hate to say it but here in Utah’s salted winter slush road climate, mine have been nothing but problems. I’ve had either side apart numerous times. And presently the passenger side moves about an inch up or down, has a horrendous screeching, and I’m just tired of dealing with them!! I’m gonna pull that one apart, for at least the second time, and completely strip down all the mechanisms, but this time to include the electric motor shaft bushings. I’ve relubed the gear train inside the motor unit a couple times now, and the step hinges are just fine, so it’s gotta be the motor shaft carrier holes/bushings. If that doesn’t fix it then I’m totally disabling that side, leaving it down, and maybe I’ll order new motor and drive units. Depending on how much they cost. Their lack of waterproofing, at least on that version, makes them total garbage in my opinion. I wish I didn’t have them at all! I’m not aware of any other options out there though. So aggravating. Good luck!
It's so Nice and shiny!
Make a hat for the alternator, just lost mine to a power steering leak 🙃
I put mevotech lower control arms on my 2018 Chevy Colorado and one of them snapped on me. Luckily I was in a parking lot and not the freeway, it was the TTX line as well… “rugged off road”
😳😬
Looks great
Nice and shiny! ✨
Appreciate the video. Currently changing the starter in my 03 100 series.
It’s a tough job! But well worth doing it yourself! Don’t forget to go buy some nice drinks and a good dinner with the mountains of cash you saved! 🍹 🥘
I have a Toyota 1992 sr5 v6, and I want to put this old man emu kit, where I can buy it ?
Call the shop at Cruiser Outfitters in Sandy Utah. Kurt is fully stocked with all the import suspension options you’d ever need! Tell them Adventure Teq sent ya! 🙌🏻
Thank you very much! quite helpful
🙌🏻
How long did the entire process (removal to installation) took? Thank you!
I’d plan for 1/2 a day. 4-6 hours or so. But if you get it done in 2-3 you’d be golden!
Hey thanks for the video! very clear!. Did you by any chance run into any misfiring while the pump was failing? or power loss during hill climbs? I am struggling with my 100 series too. I have been seeing ignition coils and spark plugs go bad shortly after replacing them with original ones.
Sorry for the late response. I don’t recall any sort of misfiring. And haven’t had anything of the sort since either. Haven’t run into any of those type of ignition issues yet. 🤞🏻
Thank you
You bet! 🙌🏻
Fast forward to nearly the 15 minute mark to get past all the talking and get to the install
Time stamp please…
I was there yesterday. I was wanting a piece of Gilsonite for my collection. The American Gilsonite factory was secured like Ft. Knox. I think I saw where you were yesterday, but I didn't the time to get my drone out. Did you ever see any raw Gilsonite somewhere so that people could get a piece for a collection? Thanks! PS: coordinates? PPS: Did you or have you ever traveled over CO-139? Bikers would love it. I was white knuckeled going over it on my return trip at night!
Cheers your still champion. Thank you
Sweet truck!
If you want a little more out of these for heavy loads you could install the coachbuilder 1.5” extension from Ekstrom Design
Thank you. I just bought a 100 series and i need to do this.
I did my dad suspension with moog and after market parts for his 89 yota about 7 years ago its all giving out already. Doing mine in the coming months and sticking with all oem
Not surprised. Junk! There’s a reason we buy Toyota’s! Cuz they are built with Toyota parts! Lesson learned here, for sure. Hoping they last til I do the solid axle swap. One of these years!
Thanks for the info! I have a 94 FZJ so I understand
So I went ahead and dropped the front differential by removing a four bolts holding the crossmember, and then the two 19 mm bolts that attach the front differential to the frame. I didn't disconnect anything else, and used a jack to gently control the fall, in the oil pan just slipped straight out the back, not the front. And that was without removing the oil pickup.
Nice move! 👌🏻
These steps are hot garbage lately. I bought the XL's 2 years ago and 3 of the 4 motors stopped working, Good luck getting new motors under warranty by AMP Research, they will give you a run around asking for video proof then no answer.
I’m needing to overhaul the screeching mechanism still since last winter. Salt slushy environment will end these things in short order. There needs to be a competitor that makes a quality all fucking weather product. 🙄
What’s the purpose of the adjustment? Just to make it less noisy and annoying? Lol
Proper adjustment does certainly help reduce noise, but if there’s no gap at all, and the valve can’t fully seat closed inside the cylinder, then pretty serious damage will result in short order! Not to mention it will hardly run at all!
At 3:56 not a homestead, part of the old camp used to house the miners since the site was so inaccessable. (PS Back roading? Always carry a small tool kit.)
A tool kit?! 😆🤣 How many 4x4’s, “overland” rigs, motorcycles, RV campers, and airplanes do you have to keep tools in?! 😛 Just sayin, I’ve got several. With comprehensive tool kits in each. Just didn’t have one in that particular truck that day! 🤦🏼♂️ Super interesting about the house! 🙌🏻
Did it end up being an electrical grounding issue and not the starter …. That was what I encountered.
Nah. It was the starter. And if I was going to go through this much work trying to find a grounding issue, at anywhere north of 250,000 miles, I’d just have a new starter and gaskets on hand and do a full job anyway!
Figure I’ll add this, after about my 5th time re-watching for different tips you give and showed. My one bit of knowledge to share, is that it is usually ideal to wear gloves when handling bearings. The oils, sweat and crap from our hands can cause damage/eat into the coating on the surface of the bearings. Other than that, great video sir, helped me out a bunch🤟🤟.
Awesome!
Watching this thinking about those who don't even know. I can't imagine a better vehicle when everything is considered.
Great video, thx.
Glad it helped! 🙌🏻
What’s the name of that organizer you had on your dash?
Rago Fabrication sells them.
Same issue.2019 Toyota Tundra. My battery was almost 5 years old so I changed it and the issue went away. Try a new battery before you tear your truck apart. Just sayin'.
Good to know. My battery began to fail mid past winter. Replaced it accordingly. However, the truck never exhibited any failure of the sort discussed here during the last weeks of its life.
I have the exact same issues. 2019 original battery. Thanks for the tip
I’ll check the battery my 21 tundra is doing the same thing 😢
Thanks for the info. I am about to buy a new belt and now I will buy OEM belt from Toyota.
Awesome! Should serve you well!
Do you know how to fix the wedge of the running board I have Yukon 2014
I don’t have any experience with that.
Original engine on the FJ60?
The blue 62, yes. Don’t know about the others.
I think you might have the wrong length springs. That shackle angle doesn't look right
What do you mean? If anything the shackle angles would be more close to a 45° angle 📐 if it were perfect. Meaning the springs would be longer. But, being heavy duty suspension, when loaded up super heavy, the shackle achieves closer to that angle. Please tell me you’re not building suspensions with vertical shackles. Because that’s the way you guarantee the roughest ride possible! Basic suspension geometry.
@@AdventureTEQ I agree it should be closer to 45. Those springs must be designed for some constant load then.
That idea for raising the upper control arm with the jack in the truck is genius!
Arguably the mostly reliable 98hp ever made. 😂 I've had several trucks from an 83 to a 92 and wasn't nice to them and they never let me down. One pieced together, factory turbo version was the most fun. 😁
Hellz yah! Would be rad to find a turbo’d one! 😎
@AdventureTEQ A friend of mine and I used to haul some scrap and got an engine from one truck and a turbo and computer from another. It was fun for a couple months until it developed a major knock and I had to swap back to the regular 22RE. A rusted out 4wd 85 Xtracab going over 90mph was a little sketchy anyway. 😂
Hi It s 4,2 or 2,8 ?
I’m not familiar with those terms. ?
Definitely not the 2.8. USA has the 25 year rule.
has the be the 1hz so 4.2 diesel N/A
Nice old troopy. Are they bright rear lights or was he on the brakes the whole vid
1/2 of that trail is downhill.
Good job my friend I look your video next week I rebuild my 1994 oh, this is a great video. I have some idea from you.🙏
Bucket list
Chained up darkness lol😅
🤩 looking good, 70Toopy & 100do making the Utah outback drive about 🤙🏼
