How. Much does this normally cost?

In the United States a unit of sperm screened by the bank for STIs, family history, basic genetic testing, background check and who passed evaluation and screening by a physician and licensed mental health profession is around $2000. Some people will use a known donor, which typically has a higher cost.

@@anthonyruiz6365 it typically ends of being more expensive to use a known donoe (if you're going through a fertility clinic) because you are paying for all of that testing, screening, doctor and mental health exams, and sample processing/storage yourself rather than it being split amongst multiple recipients at a bank.

I work with lots of couples who need to use a donor due to infertility. Have you started talking about what is important for the two of you in a donor?

@@katieleecgctalksmiscarriage not yet because she only knows a little bit of my story. My case is genetic complications that I’m scared to pass on my future child. But the little that we talked about is that I am looking for a sperm doner that is more in common to me than the others and has some similiar characteristics of me. Someone who is the same color and ethnicity as me. We would also prefer to stick with the same doner if incase we decide to have more children later after the 1st one

@@anthonyruiz6365 maybe you have already considered this option, but there is a test called PGT-M that can be utilized on embryos to help families that want to avoid passing a genetic condition on to their children. It's pretty involved and requires IVF and a lab to review your genetic condition/results, confirm testing is available, and design the test, but maybe something else to consider since it sounds like you don't have infertility. If you go the donor route, some people really like using a friend or family member (like brother or cousin) so the child can grow up knowing their donor, others use a sperm bank, where you can search for a donor with similar features to your own. Most banks have staff who can help your family find a good match.

@@katieleecgctalksmiscarriage and WhT does pgt-m stand for? I am going to take a fun gee fix and chromosomal test to see what am I a Carrie of and prove and personal diagnoses condition and my family history to get full results. But yea me and my future wife don’t have any infertility at all and her genes are perfectly fine but it’s mine. In this case if we take this route I would prefer a do we from a sperm back. No personal friends. Also is that true Thant adopting a baby normal traditional can take a longer process then finding a Sperm doner? For my case I would prefer a sperm doner for many personal reasons

Don't pick a sperm donor before picking your country of treatment, especially IVF

This is a good point I didn't address in the video. This video is from the view of someone who is seeking care in the US and using a US-based sperm bank. Though a lot of the information would also be relevant to international recipients! Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching.
