Wow Steve, love how much you achieved with your triathlons. Can't wait to see what you do next season. If only I could swim I would love to do a sprint or enduro. Me, water and anxiety, its a slow road. And yes, isn't Adz amazing! He is a machine lol. I follow him on instagram and I must admit I am envious of his quads lol. He is one determined and inspirational guy, but so are you. Love how we all inspire each other. I can't wait to get back out there and train. Keep us updated on your surgeon and dietician appt. I have regained a little too. Terrifies me. And congratulations on your 2 year sleeversary x

I think your bounce back weight is actually pretty good. Better than mine anyway! Always inspiring with your triathlon efforts, good all round fitness. I so should try it, not many tris locally though, have to go to Melbourne. Great to be "profiled", I'll check it out. Good to hear from you again. I hope Sim is also doing well. It's time for another Melbourne catch up...soon.

Green Machine VSG Aussie I think ballarat tri club do some events. there uses to be a half ironman in ballarat but they stopped running the race couple years back. thanks for kind words greenie. sim is doing really well. yes I think we need to organise a catch up again.

Phil Olsen thanks phil. Starting to think the real work needs to start now. Starting to realises that if i dont stay focused i can loss the plot pretty easy. Also Started to rewatch some of your videos from when you were 18 months out. I have to say i would prefer to watch your current videos as i think you were in a tough place at that stage and love watching your current videos as you are in such a better place. Thanks for your encouragement as always.

Get outside if you can. It is so much more enjoyable. On mapmyrun you can map a route around you that is about 5km. Do your program on this route as you will get to know it and you can set targets on the route. Even if you need to walk to to the end of the route after your program. Just take it easy and follow your program. (Sounds a bit like surgery...hehe) You will get there pretty quick as you have a really high fitness level as a baseline from your gym work. Also find a local parkrun (they are free 5km fun runs/walks that happen all over the world at 8am on a saturday) as motivation goal. Let me know if you need any help. Just go for it.

Thanks Lisa. Very slow. Not rushing into anything. Started with a Couch to 5km program as a part of the RunDouble app. This app has C to 5km, zero to 10km, 5 to 10km, improver and half marathon programs. It is great. I hate treadmill running but will do it sometimes in the at the gym. I would prefer to get outside. I started the C to 5km program but now just set my own program. When training for halfs, one long run, one short run and one speed running session a week. Then throw in a bit of cycling and swimming. How are you doing? sounds like you are back in the gym again.

VSG Steve Yeah back training hard.. I love lifting! Have started the couch to 5k a number of times on the treadmill but just never finish it! Am upping my cardio slightly at the moment so have been doing a little more running... maybe I should try outdoors now the weather is getting better..

Sorry I haven't commented in a while, brother. You have done AMAZING and you are looking good. You should be really proud. Easy to think you're "normal" now for years 2 and 3, just be careful to not get too lax or you'll be fighting 10 kg of regain like me in year 3 and 4 :) Great for you to be giving back to the community. Be proud you have earned it.

    • @stephenBell1976

Phil Olsen thanks for the feedback. That is my concern. I also gave been thinking about aiming for a half ironman at some stage. I could start training for it for this year but have decided to make it my year 3 goal and full ironman year 4 or 5. I am hoping that increasing my training for longer races and setting new goals will support this issue. I dont want to have all my goals achieved in first 24 months. It is my thoughts that i am still in the honeymoon period and i am still trying to set up good routines, for when it become more difficult. I feel i have learnt so much following guys like you. Thanks so much for everything you share. You are one of the people that keep me motivated.

I need to get over obsessing about every little detail and failure and just get on with living the life WLS has given me. Good on you! It's time we arranged another WLS catch up. I know you will be super busy before you go away but lets see what we can do. I am sure we should be able to get some of the other Melbourne people this time but as long as we have Hayley, yourself and myself that will be a great start. speak soon.

I think you are a wise man... 💛 the 21k vs. the longer one sounds better... The 2-3 year blues are real. It might be wise to pace yourself. Train Train & Train then see where your body is, and what it wants to do! All plans can be modified! Then if you are just crushing it, maybe the 2-3 year blues breaker could be completing your 2nd Ironman... or 3rd... or a combo of Olympic and Ironman combo. You amaze me, and I am estatic at what you've accomplish and what is yet to come!!d. Hope your house is illness free for a good while!

"New" wet suit! That is a score! I worked for a dermatologist in a past career and dealing with acne and moles are their bread and butter! Hope you have fun getting back into your routine after this little rest period. It is crazy the changes that happen once we are healthier, though I still need tons of sleep! Have a great week!

Sleep is our restorative period for the mind, weightloss, recharge, and muscle repair. I am concerned the caffeine could be the cause vs. your body needing less sleep. You have big plans coming up... Maybe limit the caffeine a bit to see if your sleep changes... If not, it's nothing. If so, the caffeine was depriving you of a few REM cycles that are very important. Excited for you! xoxo

Thanks Ester, it has also been really hot over night here so that might have something to do with it. Last night was a little different but I am still get 6 hours sleep each night. Thanks for the kind words.

I wondered where you were! Lovely Lakes Entrance. I once saw a mini horse there, about the size of a dog - random useless fact. Wow to your long ride! I seriously doubt that I could keep up to a pack, I have cyclists pass me all the time when I am riding to work, I can never catch them. You're smashing it up!

That long ride is amazing... Do you still get sore? You are such an inspiration!!! Aw, thanks for the shout! I was dead after that 5k! Trying to regroup to continue onward! Hope you have a great week! BTW, the FB group sounds great! Count me in even though I wouldn't be local!

Thanks Ester, sore now is a little different. I need to watch I don't over do it. I am now at the stage that I need to listen to my body. I have found in the past that when you start out your mind says that you cant do it. After a while your mind says that you can do it but it is your body starts to say you cant do it. This is where you need to listen to your body before you injury yourself.
