I created a quick episode this week... but it turned out rushed and low quality as I hurried to catch up. So, instead of pushing out rushed content, here's a little interim episode to keep you going until the next one!
Appreciate you!

    I so appreciated all the reminders! One can never have too many of them (especially when they're of immense value). It was encouraging to hear that having limiting beliefs doesn't inherently hold the power to prevent us from creating and doing our thing. Also please do take time off and take care of yourself!😊

    Focusing on helping others improves our self confidence since we have to believe we're valuable to the world if we're working to make a difference. It's a great reminder that neither life nor the world revolves around us.

    Not gonna lie, I saw 'metacognitive Therapy ' and expected a cultish video. This is an actually really good video, with a lot of good information and very nicely done! You've got a new subscriber!

      Haha I can totally see that - metacognitive therapy is lesser known but it’s definitely evidence based and not cult-ish at all. I’m glad you enjoyed the video!!

    Nice video. I'd just point out that we don't eat chocolate to get dopamine. We eat chocolate cause it tastes good (and the increase in dopamine reinforces the behaviour).

    I love how this form of therapy sounds like it really helps you basically stopping focusing on just you, you, you (self). I see that with myself and others that you you just focus on yourself, everything feels worse, looks worse and we perceive everything as worse than it really is. It is so crazy when you start to notice it. I hope this therapy grows and really helps more. I will definitely be checking out your recce!

      Yess I am glad you enjoyed the video, there’s definitely a strong focus on reducing self-focused rumination and for me that’s super aligned with my brain. I appreciate you taking the time to comment!

    6 months is too little. You have to atleast commit yourself for 2 to 3 years. Speaking from personal experience

    • @muchellesidenotes
      @muchellesidenotes 21 день тому

      I get that! I also think the mode of therapy and the relationship you build with the therapist has a huge impact on this. Going to a bad therapist or a therapist that uses an approach that doesn't work for your brain for 2 to 3 years might make things worse and cost a whoole lot more than necessary :)

    Like the saying ‘ignorance of the law isn’t an excuse’ it’s scary to realize how easily we can make mistakes and offend people esp these days when people are so open with being offended by things that might have been unintentionally offensive but we shouldn’t use that as an excuse to never apologize. Always be learning lol that’s my motto. Excellent manners are all about being considerate esp around highly sensitive people. Last week I opted out of a family gathering bc the people are easily offended by things I never intend to be offensive (differences in style basically) and they’re also extremely opinionated and religious. It was giving me anxiety attacks and what felt like an ulcer just bc I knew no matter what I did they would find something to be offended about. It was a no win situation. So a few days before the gathering I was honest about feeling sick which was real I just didn’t say it was them causing it lol and stayed away. They had a lot of fun and I rested all week. I’m no angel but in that case it really was making me sick bc I didn’t want to hurt anyone even if they were looking for their own hurts intentionally. Extended family and in laws it’s all so complicated.

    Hey hey! I've been posting my podcast episodes on my main channel for some time - but now I'm switching it up and posting over here! This is a biiit of a controversial one, but like I said... I actually don't disagree with these ideas, I just think that context and nuance is necessary when it comes to very strong takes that can have such a big impact on how we navigate relationships. A lot of these takes were originally created to apply to narcissistic people / strong "takers" and it has benefitted me to add nuance when it comes to people I generally find respectful and kind. I missed a little bit of nuance: "You're allowed to change your mind" is always an absolute when it comes to ANY personal high-risk decisions e.g. sex, buying a house, getting married etc . It still technically applies to all decisions. However, when decisions are lower personal risk (e.g. committing to attending a friends birthday dinner or agreeing to help a friend move), it can sometimes be kinder to practice taking your sweet time making a decision instead of regularly pulling out. If there are more lil nuances you'd like to add, chuck 'em in the comments, I wanna hear 'em.
