A lot of people who live with various sex addictions suffered a trauma, multiple traumas and or a sexual trauma as a juvenile. I had at least 3 traumas before age 9, one of them a sexual trauma happened in a hospital around age 8. Age 5 I was with my parents when we discovered a suicide. Around age 6 or 7 a cow tried to trample me. I had a flashback in the last 5 years of something else happening when I was a toddler.

For those in central Minnesota, western Wisconsin there is Outpost Ministries for straight, gay and lesbian sex addiction. It’s a faith based approach which I found was more helpful than SAA “sex addicts anonymous.

I think the real problem for me and for addicted people to porn and masturbation is the lack of "real love" of any female person. I think we feel lonely and depressed. For me personally I don't feel loved but I always wished a girlfriend which I never had and I try to quit porn and masturbation since 1 year but I failed over 50 times till now but I always restart and never want to fap till I find a girlfriend.

I had a girlfriend who was addicted to her vibrator. She built up a tolerance so that she could ONLY orgasm with the use of a vibrator. Her continued use of “toys” escalated to the point that she ONLY wanted to have sex while using her wild and various “tools”. This became a problem as I felt ignored and slighted due to her addiction. Still, I don’t see videos warning WOMEN about VIBRATOR ADDICTIONS!!! (wonder why???) A lot of people think that vibrator use is perfectly okay and normal - but the truth is that if you can ONLY have orgasms with the use of these toys - then it is (by definition) an ADDICTION!!!

I love that you both model that two people can agree to disagree in a civil, mature manner. I also, identify as a “recovering person.” The dis-ease of “addiction” which I see a mal-adaptive way to deal with distress, get my attachment needs met, and learn to deal with difficult feelings such as shame, guilt, fear, sadness in a healthy manner. I am very aware that the founders of AA used the work “recovered,” however, I as I heard D.J. Believe I will be peeling away the layers of the onion for the rest of my life. Thanks you both for your example!
