It's on purpose, those are movie tones. Like put a modern 27in HDR DP1.4 against a 27in non-HDR DP1.4 (10BIT 60FPS) Even with infinite brightness and dark control, the movie is invisible on the HDR monitor. The pixels overlap to multiply the orange of night scenes, as a lot don't use yellow as much as blue. They both are kidding the 700nm infrared.

impressive comparison. I am a Nikon user for many years and I am impressed by what I see from S24 Ultra. Obviously, RAW files lack some fine details in underexposed or overexposed shots but personally, I prefer a tad bit oversharpened results from S24 Ultra over Nikon. It's just my personal preference

When comparing a 2k dollar plus camera to a phone around half that price you better see some performace differences. Make a call with your camera,text, email, internet? Nothing...ok the phone is an infinitely better value in my opinion. No real professional photograpger would use a frickn phone anyway. Lol. Of course you want a dedicated camera for that but the quality of photo mixed with the infinite amount of other stuff it does and again half the price makes it pretty much a no brainer unless again you are professional....but we already know this

Remember that large sensors are only getting faster readout. Pixel quality and resolution has been the same for 15 years. The large camera offers manual control and this is why cameras like Fujifilm sell well, or accessories like timecode input, dual removable memory cards, audio input, matte boxes, follow focus, real time video output for studio use, good external triggering, tethering, flash support, external power, special lenses, etc, and all at the same time. Large cameras can only compete with phones if they belong to these two categories. Manual control, professional setups. All other cameras are doomed, even if they costs one third of the price of a phone with a good camera.

This was great comparison. I just wish you would have done the Low Light testing based on going up 1 stop, then 2 stops, etc. until you reach 5 stops. My other request is can you do a comparrison for the Z6 vs. the Z6II? I have a Z6 and just bought a Z6iii, however, there seems to be a lot of people who have a Z6ii and say that it is much more superior than the Z6, which I'd like to figure out if that is true or not. Very good comparison video. As an ex-professional photographer, I`ve just purhased a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The price has come right down, due to the imminent launch of the S25 Ultra. I looked at the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the Vivo X200 pro, but the Samsung won. The fact that a smartphone can shoot mult RAW images is amazing! Where can I buy that clip-on filter attachment you mentioned, as I`d like to shoot with a circular polarising filter attached? Cheers.

10:40 oil painting look is pretty much all I get from phones even with raw, maybe they need to be forced to take low ISO. (I suspect they automatically take high ISO especially when in HDR mode). Very interesting thanks.

If the phone and camera don't have much difference in quality.I will always use my phone to take pictures.Instead of having to carry a bulky machine.Then have to transfer the photo to another device.

I own them both and trying to decide which to take to Antarctica? The 28-400 fits better in my bags along with the 24-120 s but I know the 100-400 has better optics, so undecided about the choice?

I hope Z DX owners get 10-24 or 8-16 f/4 with 16-80 f/4 & 70-350 f/4-6.3 from Nikon. But it's almost impossible from Nikon

I swapped my 200-500 nikkor lens for the smaller lighter 28-400. Yes all the points you made are true. But which lens am I most likely to have on my camera all the time…certainly not the 5 lb 200-500 monstrosity. Thanks for the video. I carry the 28-400 on my camera all the time…my only con is I can’t fit a tele-extender to it.

Phone cannot compare with DSLR even Dslr MP is 24 is far better.

Weird question but maybe it’s perfect here…I recently got a Nikon Zf and I'm looking to aquire a second backup body, that's affordable and takes my Z mount lenses. Honestly, I’m leaning towards the Nikon Z5, but with the recent price drops the Z6ii is not much more and is appealing also. Nearly everyone I've spoken to who actually owns a Z6ii (or Z5), LOVES it. I love my Zf, but I want something that will act as a more ergonomic and compact backup, with similar menus. I shoot portraits and headshots and an occasional family session or engagement. No events, sports or wildlife. I don't need speed, and I don’t plan on doing video with this backup. I played with a Z5 and a Z6ii in the camera store recently and they both felt really nimble and great to use. In use, I couldn’t really tell much difference between the Z5 and Z6ii. Both really nice. Would you recommend the Z5 or Z6ii as a backup to my Zf? If I get the Z5 I can afford more glass, but maybe the better body is a wiser choice?

If phone camera is compared to someone who doesn't know how to use the full size rig, the phone wins. 75% of viewers seldom use devices larger than tablets to view shared images/video. The amount of effort to carry a full body rig around vs the phone in your pocket is 1 BIG reason full size camera sales are falling. I generally combine adventures and when our photos are captured, which makes full size impossible. If you know how to use the camera phone as you have shown. The phone wins. . . at a fraction of the cost. Pixel peepers will always chose full size but that isn't a fair comparison. Thank you

when it come to photographic image quality no camera manufacturer has done very much to improve it in the last 10 years. They are so focused on features that sell cameras that they forgot that pure image quality is still the most important for still photos. In my opinion.

There is a way of getting better pictures woth the samsung the samsung might not beat a prof camera but it definitely beats the iphone any day.

Z7 II would be a great body to use with either the 24-70 or 24-120mm lenses. Gives you the flexibility of the zoom range with the ability to crop in post for more reach.

The S24's 5x lens utilizes digital zoom, incorporating 3x and 10x optical zoom capabilities. Furthermore, the aperture remains fixed, as previously noted. Consequently, it's plausible that camera manufacturers are apprehensive about the current and future photographic potential of smartphones.

The quality is quite good for the S24 Ultra consodering it's a phone but still not enogh considering its price , they should now brig 1" sensor to the main camera and at least something like 1/1.56 inch sensors for the other cameras , and they should also increase battery capacity not really related with our topic but it should be improved .

the fact it keeps up at all is impressive, but you cant compare a phone camera to a professional camera with professional lens. theres no comparison. theres no substitute for glass. high quality lenses will always make better pictures imo.

I appreciate the comparison, when it is a comparison. Most people want to justify their expensive purchase. Because in reality if you show these pictures to the average person we just know a nice clean clear photo.

Samsung have a 200mega pixel camera. Use that lens for what samsung can really offer us. Beside this is not unfair because you are going against a real camera

This comparison is pointless, the lens is prob worth more than the phone itself and lens is what makes good quality shots and doesnt matter if the phone is 20mp or 1000mp, its limited by its tiny lens VS ur Nikons massive lens which is where all the details is coming from. Should compare a $200 camera because that be like putting ur dslr on a 20k drone and comparing it to a camera that has $20k of tech in it, would not be fair because most of the cost with urs is mostly the drone.

Do the photos on the ultra when using 5x zoom on 50m also switch vack to 12m photos? I noticed this on s24, even though it is in 50m the photo is 3000x4000 12m?!? Kinda weird

I think normal raw is better than expert raw for editing on samsung. Expert raw processes similarly to mothball shooting mode with extra data.

Curious how that ND in app festure would holdup against that mobile lens ND filter

Can you turn off "intelligent optimization" completely off on the ultra?

The issue is that God daen auto enhancement on the 50m photos we can't turn off. Even in Pro Mode, does this many times ruin the shot. I can't believe they didn't add an OFF feature to this mode
