I originally started watching GH as a kid in the summer of 1997, and I never liked Laura Spencer. Then I started watching a few playlists like this, that start earlier in the 90s, and I also have watched some storylines from the 70s and 80s, and I was like "okay, Laura isn't as bad as I remember".... but now I'm watching this storyline again, and I'm like "oh yes... I remember now...." ... I started watching with Laura being AWOL for a year, and then she came back, without any context of what happened prior to 1997, she just seemed awful. Now, with context, I understand some of her motivations more, but I still think she's too self-righteous and also plays the victim way too much. And she's not a great mom to either of her sons at this point.

when Alexis says her objective was to "uphold the concept that Stefan was in love with Katherine", that really wasn't a poor choice in words. Laura interprets it to mean that he wasn't in love with Katherine, and Alexis just wanted to make it look like he was, and when Alexis says it was a "poor choice of words", Laura says "and from an attorney, no less." But it wasn't a poor choice of words from an attorney. As a criminal defense lawyer, Alexis's entire job is to present a plausible narrative that pokes holes in the prosecution's case. Whether or not someone is in love with someone else can't be factually proven. Alexis can say in court, "Stefan was in love with Katherine", but she's presenting a concept, not a fact. She wants the court to look at all the evidence and conclude that Stefan was in love with Katherine, but they can't ever know 100% for sure, because they aren't in his head, thinking his thoughts, and feeling his emotions. Anytime you say anyone feels a certain way about anything, you're making an assumption (either you're assuming it based on their actions, or they told you they feel a certain way, and you're assuming they are telling the truth - or assuming they are lying - but all of it is assumption and not fact. It is a belief that you have about that person and how they feel)

Luke is phenomenal.-whatever he does is O.K. in my book.These people kidnapped his wife. They planned to kill her mother for revenge. So Stephan didn’t kill her, but he kept her for years. Luke is protecting his family and he is justified in wanting to even the score.

Even though Stefan didn't kill Katherine, I'm still sitting here hoping he gets convicted only because of how rude he is to Alexis every time she gives him sound legal advice... he acts like he knows more about the court system than she does. She's trying to get an innocent man acquitted and he's over there like "no thank you, I would like to appear as guilty as possible"... and like "why aren't you trying to prove that Luke Spencer set me up?".... because she's YOUR defence lawyer. Her job is not to accuse another person... it's to defend YOU.

I assumed Jason asked Bobbie to help because he knew she was Carly's mother, I didn't know Luke played a part in that...

Sarah's being a little hard on Lucky here... it wasn't exactly his place to tell her that something was wrong with Nikolas, especially when he didn't even know what was wrong

Bobbie is such a good nurse. Like, she's who I would want taking care of me if I were in the hospital. She genuinely cares about everyone and is always so optimistic, which is impressive considering how awful her life has been. She could be so bitter and vengeful but she chooses to be a ray of sunshine instead

I never saw the scene inside the club before... I never realized that the only reason Nikolas was outside was because of Luke... Luke's reaction makes a lot more sense now... it wasn't just because it's Laura's son... if he had let Nik stay inside, he wouldn't have been shot

as someone who has a hyperfixation on Russian history (despite not being Russian and having never even been to Russia), I so appreciate Mike mentioning the Julian calendar... It's convenient that Bobbie never actually moved out of the Brownstone when she moved into Wyndemere. It makes you wonder if, on some level, she knew that marriage wasn't forever. She could leave with nothing but her coat because she didn't really bring much of anything with her. It was never her home... she just lived there.

Bobbie pretending that she was looking for evidence of Stefan cheating was brilliant though. She is quick on her feet. It's funny because later on, after the truth about Carly is revealed, a lot of viewers criticized Bobbie for forgiving Carly, but I think people forgot that Carly is just like Bobbie (and Luke, for that matter). They are all expert liars and can spin a story so quickly. Bobbie is just more tactful about it. Carly goes overboard with the theatrics, but that deviousness is definitely in the DNA lmao

Also, I love Alexis. Truly one of the best things to come out of this storyline was Alexis becoming a permanent character on the show. I like how she can take on anyone on an intellectual level, and she's always so coolheaded in confrontation, despite actually being a neurotic basket case in her private life lol and she's so funny.

do these medallions look different? Like, to the naked eye? They have Laura's medallion... it seems like it would have made more sense to swap out Stefan's medallion for Laura's, than to try to use it while he was unconscious. Unless they look obviously different, he wouldn't notice until he tried to use it to open something that only his medallion could open. It would have also potentially bought time, because he wouldn't know why his medallion wasn't working, and he wouldn't automatically guess that it was Laura's it was swapped out for, and if he thought it had been switched, he might have suspected Alexis or Nikolas first. And Bobbie could have just waited until the next time Stefan left the island to try to open the box (like, I know this is a soap opera and people in soaps never act in the most rational way, but it seems like the most obvious plan and neither Luke or Bobbie thought of it lol)

Luke and Bobbie with the cell phones reminds me of that time later, when Jason and Carly learn that Hannah and that guy she was working with had phones that could only call each other, and Jason guesses that Carly is about to say they should have had phones like that lol I know Bobbie's and Luke's phones don't just call each other, but it just made me think of that... even though Bobbie and Luke are siblings, I feel like later, Jason and Carly were a good parallel to that relationship, just with the added element of romantic feelings and such lol but Jason was to Carly what Luke was to Bobbie, being the one person in the world who would do anything for her and always protected her no matter what, except Jason wasn't insane like Luke lmao but Carly is reckless and impulsive like Bobbie, and she needed someone to balance her out and also be able to predict how she was going to act/react most of the time, which Jason did

Thank you so much for uploading all of these, it's been so fascinating to watch! I first started watching GH as a kid in July of 1997, so I missed the build up of this whole storyline. I watched another playlist on here that was about Carly, from when she first joined the show until Sarah Brown's last episode, but since it was focused on Carly's storyline, I was missing major parts of the Cassadine storyline... watching this now, I keep having these "ohhhhhh I get it now" moments. I never understood where the Spencer/Cassadine feud came from, because it always seemed so weird that you had this super powerful family that are literally royalty, and there biggest rival is Luke Spencer?? It seemed so odd to me, because I didn't see the whole thing play out with the Nikolas reveal or how Stefan manipulated Laura. I vaguely knew parts of the Laura/Stavros storyline, but I didn't know that no one had known about Stefan and Nikolas before this, because from when I started watching, it just seemed liked they'd always been living over on Spoon Island. This whole thing was just SO good... I started watching a few soaps that summer (I'm named after Dorian Lord on OLTL, so I had started watching that to see who she was, and then I started watching AMC and GH as well, since they all played one after the other), but GH was the one that really hooked me, and it was the only one I kept on watching throughout the next few years. I eventually lost interest, and every time I tried to pick it up again later, it just wasn't good, and I thought maybe it was one of those things where a show seems good when you're younger, but then you get older and realize it's not... but watching this playlist, now I know the show really was this good in the late 90s. It was actually my dad that got me hooked on soaps (he broke his leg one summer as a teenager, and he couldn't really do anything, so he spent all day watching soap operas. He's the one who picked my name lol), and I remember he used to always complain about how they'd bring in these teenage characters and make the storylines all about them and put all the veteran characters on the backburner, and now I see exactly what he was talking about... they always want young, hot actors, and but the ones who have been around forever, with all this backstory and connections to everyone else, are always way more interesting. These intense, complicated plots are just so good.

it's so weird hearing Stefan say "Bobbie"... I'm so used to it being "Barbara" from Stefan
