Niloy Ahsan is an unconventional vocalist, mastering a distinctive repertoire, in-depth understanding of Indian music and arts as well as traditional and classical styles of Dhrupad, Dhamar and Khayal.
Niloy was initiated into music by his father at the age of 4. He has been trained in the Dagar traditions by Padmashree Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar and Padmashree Gundecha Brothers. He has also been trained in the Agra Gharana and Indore-Kirana Gharana Khayal Gayaki. He collaborated with maestros Boris Grbenshikov and Vycheslav Guyvoronsky in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In October 2021 he was invited by the legendary composer A. R. Rahman to collaborate with Firdaus Orchestra in Expo 2020 in Dubai, UAE.

Congratulations! The old tradition of dhrupad style is really impressive, specially for musicais from outside Asia. Perhaps if the lyrics of the bandishes were translated it could help us to understand the relation between the structure of this raga and the season it depicts.

Wonderful rendering and audiovisual production. Beautiful tone to the voice and pakhawaj, Lovely. Would have liked a touch more volume on the pakhawaj and there is Nothing Like a real Tanpura to enhance the magic of any recording. My humble request to PLEASE PLEASE mic the tanpura next time.
