#TheNorthman (2022) Nonspoiler Review | Underrated Film?
love it, why else would i be watching your ( awesome) post. The cast, characters, acting, story, scenery, practical effects and twist are all hallmarks of an entertaining classic story.
“Underrated”, because it’s let down by cheesy dialog, amateurish directing, and weak cliched character development. Combined with the imaginative, sui generous plot, visual and sound effects, and art design with decent (not even excellent) dialog, directing and character development, ‘Forbidden Planet’ would be widely recognized for the exponentially advanced sci-fi film genre achievement it was.
I still play this on my android Samsung phone 😂
No Way!
Amazing video. Do you think you’ll ever do a Majora’s Mask retrospective?
Yes.
Great stream - What IS happening? GameBoy color? Wow
I know right?!
lol I randomly found this video in my feed. I’ve been feeling sick the last few days, so thank you so much for this master piece. Subscribed and liked
Glad you found me! I have a few other classics on the channel to check out when you have time.
And we do need a switch remake like link’s awaking another quality game ❤
I want a Switch 2 remake of the oracle games and an hd remake of ocarina. Check out my 5 hour ocarina of time video if you liked this vid.
Still 100% this every year ❤the nostalgia is unmatched and one of the best games of all time ❤
Favorite moments?
@@Nerdporeal the start ❤️
@aaroncull1542 prologue....i say it in the vid
@@Nerdporeal the start as in the game play ❤️
And how old are you 🤔
I remember the first n64 emulator I downloaded and I played this on a computer with 128mb memory. It sucked
The game or the emulator or the computer?
I want to play this game now
I mean, its going from point A on one side of the island/world to point b on the opposing side with the usual biome environments that makes up a game like this with random encounters obnoxiously annoying and lots of empty space......but there are the elementals and treasure chests to find to somewhat help incentivize the exploration. Plus...you get to play as BRIAN! Still Interested?
Best game ever created.
Best Retrospective too?
Gourgeous colonies 😂😂😂❤
This is one of the few shows that I have watched that actually has required reading to get the most out of it. The show is a superb example of politics done well in a series as it shows ideologies for what they are and lets the viewers decide. When your show has a scene where characters discuss philosophy for 10 minutes straight and your at the edge of your seat then you have struck gold. I only wish there was an effort to dub it as it would be far more accessible and I honestly think it needs to be as it is a piece of media that is pure art.
I am totally with you there. I probably wouldnt be nearly as interested in philosophy and politics had i not watched this. I consider this high brow entertainment
I couldn't beat Zelda 1 or 2 but I beat every other Zelda since
You should revisit them
That's so awesome! Plus bonus material st the end?! Worth it
Worth the purchase
Great stream, sorry I wasn’t able to catch it LIVE.
Thanks for checking this one out in the vast sea of UA-cam. Truly appreciate it.
Loving the stream, very positive, very fun, feels like I'm long time friends with you guys just listening to you guys talk. Great convo. I wish I was awake to be part of the stream, I'll try to be part of the chat next time.
That's the nature of chillporeal. I tagged you (invited you) in particular on X for this reason. People in the chat are most certainly part of the stream and the conversation. I really appreciate you actually checking out the stream and not just liking my post haha. I try to do these weekly with different guests and have a great time doing it. Merry Christmas!
The best zelda with the oracles games
Best Zelda......retrospective?
A brilliant step forward in visual and audio design, that dedicates 50 minutes to predatory behaviour of the men towards Morbius’s young daughter.
That the movie notably addresses
@@Nerdporeal The Krell machine reminds me of what AI could become.
@Sarconthewolf Create monsters of the id?
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Doctor ostro went into the Krell laboratory, against orders, while the commander was Distracted.by Alta.
Yup. The Krell device reincarnated him and turned him into Rojan where he encounters Capt Kirk and The Enterprise and literally hijacks the vessel and captures the crew turning them all into crystal shards.
Aliens and Terminator 2 was definitely the year of the action hero woman. As in a REALISTIC action woman. I remember that year, and the press saying "feminism never had it so good". Unfortunately, it has been all downhill for female action heroes since then.
Yup girlbosses took over
I have yet to play a game that tops this masterpiece over 30 year's later it's still my number 1 game of all time
I think Ocarina would be a close contender
A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time are the greatest Zelda games ever made
Check out the Ocarina of Time one i did. That one is 5 hours
These are great, Nerdporeal! Glad the ending of LOC paid off for you!
Me too. I was like LETS GO in the last few chapters
What an intro bro
When i like what i read.....
AWESOMEEEE
Thanks
I will have to watch the VOD
Great stream
Thanks for joining us buddy
The only astronaut that got a lucky break was the woman astronaut whose capsule developed an air leak, considering what happened to the rest of them. Dodge ended up getting shot dead, stuffed, and displayed in an ape museum. Landon got lobotomized, Taylor survived, but was still marooned on Earth, where humans became dumb, and was taken over by apes.
Oh boy, did you see Beneath? Oh Boy.....
When this movie 🎥 came out, I was 10 years old. I didn't see it then but, when I was 16 , I did. One thing. Back in the day, people didn't tell everyone the end of great movies. Especially if it was a spoiler! People cared back then and wanted you to be as surprised as they were. When the end came, it was so shocking the entire drive - in was gasping! Yeah, drive - in ! Another relic from the past . Anyway, this movie ushered in a complete change in movies. From that moment on , movies would never be the same. Thanks for your retrospective of this groundbreaking movie.
Thanks for checking this one out. I do have a few other classics on my channel to check out at your leisure
AAA quality
Retrospective? Of course! haha
Why is Scorpio taking the bus to San Quentin? Never understood that.
Well....it is California....criminals are treated way better than normal citizens.
Nerdporeal is the Mike stoklasa of wheel of time. It’s a running gag now that Mike always relates something to Star Trek. Push through the slow parts and it’s worth it. I wonder if reading them with it all done affects this. Every time I hear them talk about first editions I have regret. I never valued that and probably threw some away. My dad always bought hardcovers so that’s what I had. I’d read them so much that the spine would break. I threw them away and got a new one. I never cared for first editions and never dream I wouldn’t be able to replace them because the new ones would be different. Luckily I have the set. I don’t touch them. I have paperback versions though the last two rereads I’ve done audiobooks. I just wish I had cared for first editions then. The only first edition I know I have is a signed terry godkind but it’s one of the shitty later ones
Yes. The whole to be continued bit is from the Borg 2 parter of next generation. The last time on.....i got from star trek 2 parters lol. Im breaking new ground! I am planning to be live a week from this Sunday evening talking about the second half of LOC. (Egwene just got a new Seat is where im currently at)
Btw are you subbed to my copanelists?
There’s some Latin influences. La mar is Spanish for sea and in French it’s mer. But I was looking for another romance word for the sea folk because of how annoying they are. Look up the Spanish word mierde or French merde. Basically sea folk could be shit people
Yeah, Picard says Merde in TNG
I agree that the Perrin blacksmith scene is one of the best. I tend to read very fast so sometimes I miss stuff and have to go back. I would fail dain’s reading comprehension quizzes. Because of this I missed how great a sense of humor Perrin has. A year or two ago I decided to try audiobooks because I can listen at work and that even made his sense of humor come out better. I always figured Moiraine learned balefire in the past 20 years. One possibility is cadusane. Spoiler She also knows who she’ll marry before rhuidean because she mentions it at the beginning of the next book. This always made me think she had quite an interesting life before winternight. She could easily have learned it in this time.
I saw your comment on my TGH part 1 stream. Did you listen to the ones in between? Hail! (Currently reading Lord of Chaos, at the halfway point)
@ yes, just discovered these so I started from the beginning
Thank you. I hope you enjoy them. My friends are experts and they have enhanced my reading experience.
@ I am enjoying them. I’m just happy more people are getting turned on to these books.
The dark friend social has a great Jaws reference. I didn’t notice it until recently. He describes someone as having “lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a dolls eyes”. For those unaware, this is from the great scene from jaws where quint tells his uss Indianapolis story
What is funny as that me and Pips (sunglasses guy) did a stream talking Jaws and talked about that. I heard John Carpenters Halloween version first though....The blackest eyes....the Devils...eyes.
Awesome convo y'all, thanks for having it! That Alanna scene was rough, just another unwelcome presence in Rand's mind, one more constant than even LTT. Though that instant karma of her always feeling Rand's pain.. The universe tends to find balance, eh? Well, til the next discussion, thanks again!
I like how the bonding of Aes Sedai is a major plot point in this one. Elayne wants to bond him, the scene of Semirhage torturing Aes Sedai and warder alike.... Im curious where this all goes
🤘🏼😎
Merci beaucoup pour l'histoire de Planet's Apes❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Millions of blessings, Esther St Juste
Merci!
great stream!
I try Dempsey. Appreciate you coming by!
to conclude this magnum opus. "In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same "
Your guests should be ashamed of themselves for the constant slander of naming you Drunkporeal! Very clearly you were in no way inebriated. 😜
Naming me what? I dont see anything. Inebriaporeal is fake news
@Nerdporeal yep! Just slander of the highest order!
#Whiskyporeal and White Castle stream
White castle never happened....
Nerd man!! When you’re done with Job read my book bro. Daniel. Veeeeeery very interesting.
Yup, the book of the Furnace and The Lions Den...
@Nerdporeal the book of the future my friend :) but more importantly, the book of how to stand on your convictions and defend yourself. Without violence. It's a book of faith man.
@@aldan7812 agreed. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendego agree too
I still think this is the best game in the series. Nintendo put on a masterclass in adventure gaming. This game was perfection and really mindblowing when it came out. The graphics, story, music, progression, and gameplay was top notch for the time and still hold up to this day. The world was so immersive and would carry me away as a kid. It has such nostalgia and is a great representation of how creative gaming was at the time
Did this video help recapture the nostalgia?
Its a great game, there was not enough 3D isometic games on the 16 bit consoles at all to me, I would of loved to see a Castlevania game, or somthing simular to that with a Super Mario RPG, or Sonic 3D Blast look.
Would it be Metroidvania?
@@Nerdporeal Definitely, or it could be like Rondo of blood.
That intermission claps soo hard
I wanted to make this like those old epic films hence the intermissions. Hope you enjoyed this vid
@ It’s one of my favourites to listen to as background noise when I sleep , I love this vid
Good insight
This movie and others of this era just bring out a lot of discussion. 70s man
The hardest part of this game was to getting all the items. These were located in counter intuitive locations, many without any clue, and no way to figure it out except by randomness. Sometimes it was a matter of luck to hit the right spot. Given this, the game can be harder than it really is and frustrating as there is no straight forward items narrative. As an example, you can encounter a boss that requires an item you should have gotten three temples before in order to be defeated, and they don't tell you where this is nor what is useful for. This is one of the conclusions I came by finishing the game (again) a couple of weeks ago. Other than that, it is truly a master piece
