Teardown - Meta Quest Touch Pro Controller (2022)
Ironically, this video is considerably better with the sound off.
Thanks for showing ❤
****UPDATE: I figured it out! ...and without breaking it! Okay, the rocker plate does, in fact, come off with extra exerted force as I originally thought. the trick to releasing it without breaking is: Using a stiff pry tool (preferably non-marring such as glass reinforced ABS pry tool) but a medium size flat head screwdriver will work in a pinch. Going at only one side at a time, have the rocker plate in the "high angle" position and you will see the two points that attach it to the mouse. It is snapped in and can be snapped back out but care must be taken not to break the posts that hold it in place. Using the pry tool, slide it in from the outside end (not between the two attachment points, but from the opposite side), and while pressing the posts (attachment point) toward the other (toward the center of the mouse), also pry the plate away from the mouse body, GENTLY. it will finally snap out, and you can do the same to the other side. Now you will have access to all the screws holding the shell together, and not have a broken shell that needs to be super glued back together!
I'd love to get your torn down Meta glasses so I can do some hardware testing on them. I see a number of exposed test pins we all want to see probed!
Does anyone know where I can get a battery for this model? (xiaomi smart band 7 pro)
Why are you pulling hard on the lens? Just turn it 90° and you can easily pull it out🤌
broooo thank you so much!! i have a flywoo kit on the way and could not find a video on a GP12 teardown until now!! thank you!!!
Robust magnet
how to disassemble the speakers?
model D-83B
Not a complete tear down. Still needed to tear down the speakers with the audio jack and changing port cables. Boo. Did everything but the specific thing I was looking for lmao
how did you disassemble the speakers?
You need to completely disassemble and there’s screws holding them in
@@xtac0munch3rx66 Do you have any photos of the insides of the headphones?
Mine keeps saying bag is full, it's not full. It cycles 3 times and just stops working or it says no bag and there is a bag smh
Thanks for the video. Can you please tell me whether the Quest Pro uses identical joystick modules to the Quest 2? You can find third party replacement joystick modules for Q2 on Amazon etc, but nothing for QPro. It would be great if you could confirm whether it's the exact same part or not.
awesome teardown
Can you tell us what camera modules are used for the rgb pass through?
Left stick is drifting so bad uuuugggghhhh
Sonos is garbage.
explain. I have a few Sonos components - what am I missing?
I did this to fix the stick drift and now my left one doesnt connect anymore
Any schematics of the PCB available? Looks like the Triac that is broken. (and the App doesn't offer a dirt disposal anymore)
Odd size woofer, rather them use pair 10 or 12’s.
ты просто лучший бро
Hi, could you tell me the thickness of your blade?
Can you reupload with the sound? This is a good tear down. The other video I just watched destroyed their pair
Is this video supposed to have sound?
Tell me, if you disconnect the battery, will it just work from Type-C?
I'm also interested in this, maybe it will work like Quest 2 only if the battery is connected
Wait. I thought the pen had no battery.
Anyone else already having a joystick go after 10 months? Super unimpressed that they didn't use hall-effect sensors in a 500 dollar controller.. Unacceptable.
These smaller joysticks get gunked up quicker than standard sized joysticks. Just follow this video to remove the faceplate and joystick, then spray electronic contact cleaner on it. Cover controller with clean towel and let sit for an hour or so (maybe even 24 hours) for the cleaner to evaporate). Put joystick and faceplate back on. Then you should be set. This will probably need to be done once a year depending on usage. Though it may not fix all joystick drift issues.
Won’t showing the serial number in the video reveal who purchased the unit, so why blur the video? I like the video however!
probably reflection of the face
I wonder if there's a strategic spot where you could drill a few holes and prevent these things from overheating all the damn time
I had that problem for a while. Started off fine, then there were a bunch of firmware updates and they started overheating. Now it doesn't do it anymore and it's fine again.
So do you think it’s safe to bend the ear part of the frame?
Hey, appreciate the video. What region was this Quest 3? US/UK/EU/AU?
Is there any way you can fix my quest pro controllers
Very interesting. Thank you
The silence is deafening
so then... there is a ribbon cable on BOTH sides of the plastic frame? both in and out? fuck me such ewaste this is
There was a youtube video on a partial bypass of the 'recording' LED. A sticker over the LED with a pinhole in it greatly reduces visibility without tripping the sensor. Of course it is only a matter of time until the LED/sensor are hardwired out or patched out in software.
You know? You can add voice too man
Thanks a lot for this video!! One interesting thing for me is at 8:50 you show the scroll wheel button. I didn't know it was placed on the right side of the whell shaft. Now I know how to click with less force - still too much force required for my liking, but a bit easier.
Thank you so much
Now put it back together video
If i replaced the screen would that ruins the ip8 ? And make it useless.thanks
No dust protoctor on lens module
the battery can’t be separated from the board?
It is possible, but wire is direct soldered to board. I dont have right tool to put it back so I did not take apart in my video.
@@manboTube need to unsoldered it? got 2 wires, is it positive and negative?
Yes, I guess it is positive and negative.
@@manboTube which one is positive and which one is negative?
@@manboTube which is positive and negative??
better wear a mask instead of blurring the video
That is what I learned from this video… I will do that for next time
@@manboTube why didnt you turn of the device before teardown?
Man to invest a meta quest 3 into a video and release it with no audio lol. I would add music from YT at least. Its just awkward silence.
no thanks. you can play your own music by yourself. tech teardowns should be silent or just the tech talking.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
why is there no audio?
Well that was a waste of $500 for some UA-cam views. I doubt you can get it back together in working order. I wonder if they'll honor the warranty...lol.
its actually extemely helpful for repairing and working on devices like these and maybe you wouldnt be able to put this back together but someone with knowledge and more then 3 braincells can
many things can be considered a waste of money/time for youtube views, however I wouldn't consider helping the right to repair movement being one of them.
well i'd be willing to send the channel $10 towards that amount. it was really worth seeing what it looks like inside to me, though i would prefer more high res microscope video of the parts so that model numbers can be seen. this video is a great resource to the repair community. im looking at installing more fans and a bigger heatsink on my quest 3 so it can be overclocked.
is it not waste if you learn something
This is an incredibly useful video.
Thanks for you Video.
Thanks for sharing this video. Any chance you could share the full version of the video? I want to attempt to replace my face tracking module (broken by sweat) with one from another (anything else) broken Quest Pro. Based on your tear down, do you think that's something I could accomplish?
