She was a wunderfull ship and she died in Freedom. Her life was the sea and in her dead SHE WENT IN THE SEA. She let not beeing scappt, she died in honour. So, I hope, she was happy. She had a free soul !

6:17 Did they somehow get lights on the ship or is that the Sun coming threw the windows ? I wonder if people tryed to live on her before she broke apart .Great video.
I like this ship an saw her wreck on Fuerteventura 3 times, a great experience. Unfortunately the people living on Fuerteventura were and are not very clever and business-minded, when they plundered the wreck. And still not today. So many valuable items had been taken, including remaining art and furniture, masses went into the rubbish later, and expected thousands of items are still hidden on Fuerteventura, but never sold on modern platforms like eBay. It seems the people on Fuerteventura still doesn't know, that almost EVERYTHING from the famous ship can be sold as reminder pieces, and some items like brass portholes and so on could be sold for quite much money. Perhaps somebody should give them a hint. 😊
Very impressive!! When I was there in 2017 it was all gone. But I checked out a lot of other lost places on Fuerteventura, you might wanna check out my library
ALMOST all is gone, but not everything. In the autumn of 2021, there were still some very few remaining parts of the wreck above the water line. Of course to see that, it was (is) necessary to visit the beach at minimum ebb tide. It might be boring for people which haven't seen the wreck in former years, but my family and me were happy to see that not everything was gone in autumn of 2021. Therefore I have also corrected the wrong information on Wikipedia, German language version.
Serpentine Now that I would like to see, but apparently it is very dangerous to just swim there due to very strong rip currents on the west coast of Fuerteventura.
Serpentine Say I think that I've found something very interesting! I've found some remarkable footage taken in 2013 of the wreck underwater and there's still a lot down there, check it out: ua-cam.com/video/8AX2WS-Z1CM/v-deo.html
Thank you for this wonderful video, Francisco.
Me alegra que te guste, un saludo, muchísimas gracias
I remember the ship well when it was AUSTRALIS with Chandris Lines sailing into Sydney, Australia. A sad end to a once happy ship.
The American Star is a classic example of nature over technology. Nature is powerful.

Sii😞
Tranquis lo sacaremos del mar
All wasn't lost. The locals of Fuerteventura removed everything from on board and gave them a new use. Parts of the ship live on.
A fitting end for something that was built for the sea.
This is an amazing video. Thank you!
Bellissimo
It's so heartbreaking to see the interior. RIP SS American star

@@franciscojperez6119 All the best thanks for replying .Great video Francisco .👍
I believe it was part of an art display in the late 90s. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were people living on the wreck.
Her sister ship the ss United States is docked in Philadelphia. Sad end for the ss American star
I live in Philadelphia
O poder do Oceano e invencível!!!

More like the power of bad management
Seguerro que albondigas!
I’ve heard that at least 8 people have been killed trying to get on board the American Star.

Yes nice ship to bad it wrecked where it did mother nature is reclaiming her way to fast
I've been there, very sad what happened to her.
The tide just ate her away
Lots of tide and wave ate her away and its already gone for now but still some in underwater.
Cuánta pena !!!
cool cruise ship
It was once the largest passenger liner built in the United States and was extremely luxurious to sail on.
Spanish locals stole the artwork and a lot of the ships artefacts.
The ship was settled as a total loss and the locals just needed bits from the ship. I have a few rusted parts from the wreck.
Good for them, it would have just sunk with the ship,
La American Star femenino. El varco era Americano.
Could you do a diving video diving down to see whats left?
