Nice… I got this a year ago after watching Dallas paint correction page
Yep!
Luke: I've been using Formula 4 in this way (as drying aid, and to prevent spots in direct sun) for a couple of years now. My method is a bit different, however (Might be worth a try for you). I have a *cheap dedicated Foam Cannon specifically and only used for this. I put about 3-4 ounces of the Formula 4 spray wax in my foam cannon and then fill the rest of the 100ML with water. After my contact wash I then Foam down the car with this mixture (it uses very little of the foam cannon contents). It does "Foam" slightly. I'll foam down the entire vehicle which is super fast, then rinse as usual. Works EXCELLENT. I possibly could be using slightly more than you do considering your using spray bottle. But it's fast and super easy. Give it a shot!
Sounds good ima have to try this . Do you use tapwater or Filter water with formula for the foam cannon?
@@paulosuna3565 I use distilled water in foam cannon just to be safe, I doubt regular tap would hurt it though.
I tried this then left it In my foam cannon without rinsing it out and it clogged it 😂 good thing I have warranty on it tho
Great advice. I have use the spray bottle for a few years now. But can’t wait to try this method.
@@iwilldie75 let me know what you think. I really like this method, as it's fast and effective. I can do black vehicles in 90deg heat and get zero water spotting.
Thank u. I bought a gallon several months ago and couldn't quite figure out the best time to integrate it in my wash routine. This is a great idea.
I’ve been using the Formula 4 for helping my black cars dry spot free. I’ve read it’s the solution auto car washes use when you pay extra to get a ‘coat of wax’ with your wash. As you mentioned, it gives a nice shine, but nothing that will hold up past the next rain storm.
Thanks for the tip, I've been avoiding washing at home due to water spotting since I moved in 6 years ago. I can get the gallon for as little as 22 dollars if I wait for it to arrive at a local vendor. So for that I gave it a shot, dug out my washing kit and gave it a shot. I was not disappointed zero hard water spots very impressed. Thank you.
I learned about this from Dallas Paint Correction. Great product. I bought it in early 2021. I'm still using the same gallon!!!
This definitely works. So useful in the Las Vegas heat.
I love this product! I have used it for a year now. Every week or each wash. Between hard wash.
I use this mixed in with my car soap in a foam cannon. Got the idea from pan the organizer I believe. Works well.
Thanks Luke, I was on the fence about this product, since seeing your demonstration of the product I am going to order it 👍
Glad to hear that andrew!
Neat trick! Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for all the info bro I have this product in my arsenal right now
Glad to hear it!
Never crossed my mind to use a rinse aid while having a soapy car. I'll try it out next time. Thanks
When you were mobile for years in the hot sun... these are the things you think about :D
Have you considered putting a bit into your wash bucket? I have done it and it works really well for reducing water spots, and saves having to go back over with a spray bottle
The more ya know good tip lol
Does it affect the application of spray protectants?
I've seen some videos where people spray it into their stream of water as they are rinsing
Awesome video!!
Great video as always!
Thanks! Glad to help
I’ve been using this out of a dedicated foam cannon for a little over a year now and it works great. I also buy it at O’Reillys for half the price!
@@lilart13ab cause everyone has access to Amazon and maybe not an O'Reilly? Doesn't always have to be about greed or anything else lol

@@lilart13ab he gets paid from Amazon that’s why
@@BMAD888 I kind of figured that but still he should be looking out 4 his subscribers instead of trying 2 get paid off of us u know?
Just started using it after seeing it a lot. Love it
Glad to hear it!
Could it be used on a ceramic coated vehicle? Would it have any adverse effects, like clogging up the coating and limiting the coatings effectiveness?
Great job. Thanks
Great stuff been using it for years
I'm in your ceramics course and I was going to email you this exact question lol. If this product was good because I can't afford the DI water tank right now.
I know that I should get this product for sure now. Thanks for the help Luke, You've taught me a lot
I need the site where you can get the products for hard water stops
So glad to hear that man! Yes this is definitely your solution!
Thank you so much bro!!!
Worth trying since I have hard water leaving horrible spots. I've been using a $15.00 inline filter for my garden hose, no issues with water spots.
Do you think this would work on glass? I’m looking for a solution to streaking while cleaning glass in the hot FL sun. Wonder if I could add a bit of this to my spray cleaner
I always use spray wax after washing while I shammy the water off. But this is definitely a much cheaper solution than buying premade spray waxes.
I used wolfgang Uber rinseless wash solutions in my soap bucket. It's also works great
Are you rinsing the soap and spray wax off with hard water too? Or DI water?
After you dry the vehicle, can you then for your paint correction,/waxing or ceramic coating?
I am curious how this will work in the Phoenix, Arizona sun where it gets hot, really HOT, and almost always sunny where it gets over 100+ degrees by 9:00AM on many days during the summer. Does this compare to Lucas Oil Slick Mist or are these products completely different?
The simple answer is yes it’s comparable but it makes more sense to compare slick mist to something like meguiars x press spray wax. They are both polymer sealants that can be used as a drying aid (notice I say drying aid and not rinsing aid like I do in reference to the formula 4). I will post a follow up video to show these products in direct comparison in this application to the formula 4
Great video
Hi Wilson I just placed my order...thanks
Dang! Love the decisiveness!
O'reilly's sells it... So fast they get it in next day if they don't have it at the store... Love superior products
I use ONR for the same purpose and it more versatile
Thank you so much!
Absolutely!
Hey Luke, How are you? I hope you and your family are doing well. I was wondering what the difference is between this product and the Technicians Choice Ceramic Detail Spray? What one is better? Thank you for your time and for making this video.
Technician has way more protection and is slicker.
Hey Luke, can you use this like you did in the video, apply with soap and then rinse off and then after drying apply bead maker on top of that?
I have the same question
@@pooneyheat From my looking around YT, soap, rinse, drying aid is the normal/preferred way to use Formula 4.
I don’t know if this is a good idea or not, but… what if you mix the product into your foam canon, would it work like that too??? Or no just curious I’m new to this stuff and I’m trying to learn
I use Cascade Rinse Aid it keeps dishes from water spotting from hard water. If it's good enough to eat off it's good enough for my truck.
Sorry if it’s a dumb question, but can this be used even if I have a ceramic coating on the vehicle?
Can this be used on a car that has already been waxed? Will it harm the wax coating?
can you use meguiars ceramic wax spray on top of this?
Could you use P&S Bead Maker after using this product or apply Ceramic spray coating?
Good afternoon Luke God bless I wanted to know you use regular water or distilled water as always be safe God bless William from extreme optimum auto detailing pr
So…. What sprayer attachment is that your using with that pressure washer? Love the tips! Implemented a few already. (Hobbyist)
Genius product review, thanks Wilson. Would you put this side by side Beadmaker? Same thing?
Video on that coming this Wednesday :)
@@wilsonautodetailing Very nice to hear sir thank you!
Good video I put this stuff in a foam cannon 1:4 but will probably switch over to a pump sprayer
Yep.. you will get more out of it in a pump sprayer if that is what you care about
I have been using this product for a couple years now but I think I am ready to invest in a DI , any recommendations? It has to be portable and compact.
Would you use this on a ceramic coated vehicle? After washing with Reset.
nice.can this remove long time water spot from paint
Would you use this same process on ceramic coated vehicles as well? Does the wax take away from the ceramic hydrophobic properties? Thanks for the input and knowledge you always share!
I actually use a Graphene detail spray diluted with distilled water in a handheld IK pump spray bottle. But yea, same exact concept! It works great!
Yes... I've never really heard of anyone talking about this (maybe I should make a video) but that's exactly right... you can accomplish something similar with a spray wax that isn't dilutable
@@wilsonautodetailing Absolutely! A few years ago, I decided to start finding ways to speed up the detailing process without affecting the quality of the job. I made several changes that year, but that was the best one! I actually came across a video from Chicago Auto Pros where they were using a rinse aid, then just blowing the vehicle off. I was like “Duh!” So I went out and got myself an electric blower and started experimenting with different products. Dry time goes so much faster now!
Anyone know of a good place to buy this in Canada for less than $100 per gallon? Or an alternative to this for that matter.
Would it be ok to use this product to help with water spots then finish with gyeon wet coat or would the wet coat ?
Can this be used on a ceramic coated vehicle ? Will it mask the properties of the ceramic coating?
Does Technicians Choice TEC582 work the same way with a 10 to 1 dilution?
Great video. I have well water full of minerals. This should help with window washing too
Would this affect black plastic trim at all? Also, would afterwash from chemical guys work similarly to this?
how do you compare this to bead maker for a drying aid?
Wouldnt it make sense to have two foam cannons. one with foam. one with spray wax as a rinse aid?
Can i use this product along with Meguiars Ceramic Wax?
thanks. what's your dilution ratio for this to last the longest?
10 parts water/ 1 part product
Since I keep it on hand I just use ONR and I’ve been getting great results in the S Texas heat.
Definitely! Rinseless washes all year round
I’m trying to buy this item
But it says not available any where I look can anyone tell me where they are buying from or the link ? Thanks
Thank you
Great video. I tried this without rinsing the soap of the paint but it did not work as effective. It left residue.
However, if you Rinse off first then apply then rinse again. it works better
Can you use formula 4 for a drying agent and technicians choice for the last touch?
I have both and tech choice for a drying aide works better and is slicker probably last alot longer too.
That reminds me of the Bead Maker by double black diamond. Or P&S.
Can you use NO Rinse as the same as this product? I remember seeing a video that you made of No rinse and it seems to be the same .
Can I still use my mix of dream maker and bead maker on this after drying the car?
Subscribed , you should really link up some other products like this one for those who say 40$ is expensive when it's cheaper somewhere else. Plus gives us options
Haha agreed… the best place to look is at your local distributor because this TYPE of product is harder to find online simply because the market for these products aren’t consumers
@@wilsonautodetailing thanks for the reply it's understandable, I'm actually getting into the detail world myself going from someone who enjoys keeping a clean to actually putting together my small little business to start from my car. Love your channel
@@wilsonautodetailing any suggestions on a decent tire shine that will last but is also $$$ friendly , I've seen reviews on the meguires all season dressing but not sure about it even tho in a big meguires fan
@@KingDaDetailer vrp homie. Tried and true for many years, there is also Adams graphene tire coating. It is in a dark grey almost black, spray bottle.
Great tip! If you’re putting on a ceramic coating on the vehicle afterwards, would you forgo this step? Or am I splitting hairs here because this tip assists the time to complete cars so you can move onto the next customer?
If you're ceramic coating you'll want the paint as clean as possible so the ceramic coating can bond to the clear coat so definitely don't put this on before a ceramic coating. This can be used as a top coat over a ceramic coating or as part of a regular wash.
@@CorgiOnStilts_ This product is pretty similar to ONR from what I saw in the video, which is the same thing a lot of people use for a clay lube. If you're ceramic coating an IPA wipe down is necessary after clay regardless so no harm in using this.
Are u diluting this, and since i work on many semi trucks can you run in a foam cannon ?
Do I have to rinse with water after spray it? Or I can used it as a dried aid... Like spray the formula (on a wet car after washing of course) and use a microfiber to dried it.
I've seen it wiped dry without rinsing. You'll have to try and see if you like it.
great video, I learned a lot from it. Will be getting some of the stuff you're using... one suggestion though, cut down on the caffeine intake prior to doing anymore videos😆😆😆😆👍
Could i mix it with the soap maybe? To make it quicker
Guy’s help. I used first time today & left so many water spots on car had to totally rewash. Had product in hand pump foamer, foamed on car with suds still on & started drying & leaving mega water spots. Should I have misted on? Thanks
Does Technicians Choice ceramic detail spray work the same way as this product?
yup
Would this be ok to use before applying a wax to the car considering it itself is a wax
What about the spots you made at the beginning? Did they just disappear after washing? What about spots that were previously on the car?
Haha Ive been using this for 2 years since dallas laint correction did a video. It really does work well. Ive been over concentrating it at 5:1 though
is this your current dilution ratio?
I’ve been having problems with it leaving residue but I’ve been spraying it on after I wash and rinse. So I’ve been washing, rinse, spraying diluted formula 4, rinse again. I have a black truck and it leaves a residue so I’ll try to spray it on while the soap is on and see if that makes a difference.
Had the same problem. Wondering what I’m doing wrong.
@@trails4days I’ll try and wash the truck in the next week or so after some rain we are having and let you know my results.
@@trails4days Deven, dilute the formula 4 more. It’s been working for me to dilute 20:1 or 30:1, spray the rinse aid on the soapy water right after the contact wash and rinse. No residue. I think at 10:1 it was just too concentrated on a dark vehicle and leaving residue marks. 👍🏼
Nanoskin supercharger does the exact same thing with a 100:1 dilution and works great!
Yes and no, but I’ll do a follow up video as a test
@@wilsonautodetailing Thanks.
Would you be able to use something like this before paint correction or is this just for a maintenance washes?
Definitely before paint correction.. or anything else for that matter... your surface prep will remove any residue from this product before the correction process
@@wilsonautodetailing thanks bro. You are extremely helpful with your videos.
Interesting. Would there be any issues putting a sealant or ceramic coating on after using this? Would this negatively impact the durability of the protection?
I would ALWAYS strip everything with a strong surface prep in between any washing/water spot prevention, and the actual application of the coating... not to mention if there is paint correction in between the prep and coating
Any polishing will remove this almost immediately, even a ipa spray will break it down it’s not very durable. I would put a sealant right over without a worry.
Ok so what about using this for the more critical jobs that you would be doing mobile ? Example if I am using a spray ceramic sealant I wouldn’t want this on the paint first correct? It would make my 6 month basic coating not bond. This would be a basic package where there is no polishing.
@@pjdrummer1984 id say it will affect the bonding of your sealant.
can you use this after/with a rinseless wash too?
So what would happen if I use it in my foam cannon ?and just add way less product then I would for a bottle and mix it in my soap ?
I'm in the uk cannot find it 😫 search comes up with other products........ Good video
would this work if you just added it to your soap water?
I use this for my motorhome, Dallas Paint Correction, Scott showed me.
I never dry my motorhome.
I foam, rinse, apply 6:1 formula 4, wait a few minutes, rinse.
No spots, no towel drying.
How about a drying aid without wax. What are some products that you would recommend luke??
Hmmm, wonder if other spray and rinse products will do the same. Gyeon Wet Coat, Carpro HydrO2, etc. 🤔
Hey Wilson Auto Detailing, I got the e-mail but every link to videos are not available. It shows this "Cannot load video.

What spray bottle are you using
If you but this (or any Superior Product) from O’Reilly it’s a good idea to call ahead and order it for pick up. Most stores don’t have the gallons in stock, but can get them within a day.
And they won't charge shipping
Yep!
Seems like some Jet Dry dishwasher rinse would do the same. Maybe you could test it for a video.
There was a guy in Dallas who put a vid of this stuff up years ago… I got some….but I never applied it in the soapy water phase…great tip, thanks!
Glad to hear it... yes this is a popular product that lots of people used, but sometimes it finally dawns on me to pull out a product that I haven't yet talked about to get some content out despite it being OLD NEWS :D
Scott from Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing featured this same product to remove water spots 3 years ago. Here's the vid: ua-cam.com/video/tzLlo3ySIrs/v-deo.html
@@You-sw7tm Yeah, but for whatever reason I didn’t have as much luck down here in Austin (mind you I’m not a detailer). I don’t know if I had the ratio wrong or added and extra step rinsing the soap first, but this was a better video and makes me want to do it again. I think I applied it at the end and laid it on a little thick and basically had to buff it off, which still looked good in the end…

Could you theoretically mix it in with your foam cannon with the soap?? And save a step?
Can you use spray on sealant after you dry the car? Or will it effect the application of that
Yep you can use a sealant on top
It will definitely effect the longevity of Sealant. Same as trying to get paint to adhere to an unprepped surface. Your LSP always fails when the product below it fails.
