My husband passed away 24 days ago-he was my world & I was his. I was laying in his arms & he told me he loved me, I told him I love him & he died. It was very unexpected but he died the way we lived. Me wrapped in his arms.
If you have your senses wide open sometimes you might feel his wormth still touching your body...other times like holding your hand other times on your shoulders...death is not the end.
I think this idea, though given in support, can sometimes make someone who is depressed feel like a failure , and increase the depression, suicidal ideation. A more supportive comment, we are all experiencing difficulties , from time to time. We all handle them differently. When in this type of situation, we all need to find the support we need. Speaking from personal experience here.💚

I'm on 4 different medications for depression and believe me when I say, I definitely understand what you mean. I guess what I'm saying is that us with depression can't give up. We've been through hell & back & some of us are still going through hell. I know I am. We feel more sadness & pain & loneliness because we let it consume us unlike others that can just let it go & move on. We just can't give up. We gotta stay strong & hold on. Things will get better 🙏 😌 We are stronger than what we could imagine. We just gotta dig deep inside and find our strength again. It's there, inside, trying to come out. When we find it we can't let it go. If we still can't find it, we can't give up hope. Things can only get better from here on out. 😊

My Fathers health was failing . About every other day I made the long cross town trip after work to check on him and my mother. Sometimes I would spend the night an others I would make another long trip home at night. There was a Black Man, a Decon in his church. He was a heavy equipment operator, not a supervisor but anyone seeking advice would talk with Melvin. I would see him regularly maintaining the equipment in the yard. I often talked with him about my Father. His words of wisdom “the Good Lord will not put a weight upon your shoulders they cannot bear”. Melvin passed away a year after retirement. God Bless you Melvin Knowles I’ll never forget you.😊

I have been flattened also. What ultimately helped was to forgive without ANY return expectation. It took years but i can now be free of the turmoil caused by words. So,feel the hurt and pain and practice letting it go. Easier said than done but worth it to you when you do. Love and blessings !

That was my father. I watched him intervene for animals and people unable to defend themselves throughout my growing up. I absorbed his same reactions to those situations that he responded to. The "problem" was our differences -- HE was a Veteran Army Officer, former Commanding Officer, a Prisoner of the Gestapo, and later, a Wehrmacht POW who was in two wars. I reacted as he did to the same situations, from a young age, but I had no idea how to get myself out of any "difficult" situations I might have ended up in and I still have no idea of how to do that. An absolute chicken about physical danger, I never have been hit, nor have I ever hit anyone. I learned to use other skills I have, like abilities to read people, to calm them, a powerful memory, ability to negotiate, etc. I still use those abilities in my profession that includes "pro bono" representation of Veterans, some Active Duty Military and law enforcement + K-9 Officer care and assistance. If I stick to MY ABILITIES, I am a good advocate and they like my work style. I held a peace summit over why I was ending up with them in "too many chicken situations." I learned why I found myself in scary places with them [climbing a rickety ladder in a skirt and heeled pump shoes, crawling inside some blown up contraption wearing pearls and red lipstick with my hard hat, "hiking" that became serious mountain climbing with me lost in fog past midnight]. We reached detant and signed a peace treaty after my agreement to "go rafting" became my intro to "whitewater rafting" on the river where that movie I hate, "Deliverance," was filmed. Five hours of Near Death Experiences formed a split personality in me that alarmed my clients, as a wooden paddle was peeled from both my hands. I learned they relied on my intuition for things and one called it a "power." I disspelled it as intuition used 300% daily (and my training to use it) v. their non-use of theirs as trained concrete thinkers, taking me to "chicken sites," as they had begun to rely on the intuition-especially about people. Differences in people are ASSETS to a group or team or our country...we form better ones.
I was reading some comments on here. Most are heart felt and saddens me. Loosing someone isnt always the easiest thing to take in. But your love for these people will never die because Gods love will never die it is forever. God is with you all and is holding your all. If by any chance you cannot see are feel Gods love, just think of heaven and then stare at the sky take a deep breath and smile because God just hugged you all. I have to hold Gods hand every day. Lost my husband in Jan and my horse in March. I praise God every day for the strength. Only he knows my struggles. My Faith grows stronger. Yes there are difficult days.
I was a young officer back in April 1980 when I entered the gates of Hell during the failed rescue attempt (Operation Eagle Claw) of the American hostages when one of our choppers crashed into an airplane and it all went up in flames. Eight servicemen died. The fire was horrendous. That was, in a way, my baptism of fire (friendly fire but still) and it was then and there that I decided to be a lifer. To honor those who had fallen that night. Spent 35 years in service to this country and when that song comes on, I immediately flash back to that night.
Lost my wife of 20 years to a chronic illness. The last 2 years were bad but the final 3 months were almost unbearable 💔 😢 seeing someone you love go through such pain and sadness really takes a toll on you because all you want to do is be by them and help and hold them. The struggle is real! The pain unbearable, i almost lost myself to death because I felt i couldn't go on or bear to take another breath. I turned to alcohol, but today i am free. I reacted as he did to the same situations, from a young age, but I had no idea how to get myself out of any "difficult" situations I might have ended up in and I still have no idea of how to do that. An absolute chicken about physical danger, I never have been hit, nor have I ever hit anyone. I learned to use other skills I have, like abilities to read people, to calm them, a powerful memory, ability to negotiate, etc. I still use those abilities in my profession that includes "pro bono" representation of Veterans, some Active Duty Military and law enforcement + K-9 Officer care and assistance. If I stick to MY ABILITIES, I am a good advocate and they like my work style. I held a peace summit over why I was ending up with them in "too many chicken situations." I learned why I found myself in scary places with them [climbing a rickety ladder in a skirt and heeled pump shoes, crawling inside some blown up contraption wearing pearls and red lipstick with my hard hat, "hiking" that became serious mountain climbing with me lost in fog past midnight]. We reached detant and signed a peace treaty after my agreement to "go rafting" became my intro to "whitewater rafting" on the river where that movie I hate, "Deliverance," was filmed. Five hours of Near Death Experiences formed a split personality in me that alarmed my clients, as a wooden paddle was peeled from both my hands. I learned they relied on my intuition for things and one called it a "power." I disspelled it as intuition used 300% daily (and my training to use it) v. their non-use of theirs as trained concrete thinkers, taking me to "chicken sites," as they had begun to rely on the intuition-especially about people. Differences in people are ASSETS to a group or team or our country...we form better ones.

I was a young officer back in April 1980 when I entered the gates of Hell during the failed rescue attempt (Operation Eagle Claw) of the American hostages when one of our choppers crashed into an airplane and it all went up in flames. Eight servicemen died. The fire was horrendous. That was, in a way, my baptism of fire (friendly fire but still) and it was then and there that I decided to be a lifer. To honor those who had fallen that night. Spent 35 years in service to this country and when that song comes on, I immediately flash back to that night.
