Thank you so much for this video. You taught me lots of things I had no knowledge of and I saw the tip I crawled up when I was a kid. I was told as a child the Brox part of the name was for the Badger and ofcourse burn for stream. I live overseas now and was brought up in the Holygate, that was a bit of a shock when I saw that.
Am glad you enjoyed it
Broch is badger in old English and in Gaelic. Badgers stream whatever way you slice it.
I seen it meaning both when I researched the episode. So thought I should mention it, either way hope you enjoyed the episode overall
What are the new spieces found ion the bings please
Again it's been a bit of time since I covered this topic but I believe it's mostly thier own flora and fauna. But I want to say they have their own newts (but don't hold me to that one lol). If you type oil shale bings and species into Google you should find the research (I personally found it a bit technical and jargony)
Was at poundland outside the xcite saturday 6:30, barely made it alive iykyk
How Uphall got its name is not clear to me.
There was a house with an apple orchard if I remember rightly it's named after that. I suppose hall was a name for a big house, and the orchard was up near the hall, then just uphall
The Brox flows into the Almond at Kirkliston and it overflows in some seasons.
Scottish Gaelic for Badger is spelled Broc. Just sayin'
Makes sense,thanks for watching
