Hi there. Never thought I can setup my first UA-cam video. Upgrading Brompton has been my recent pastime during pandemic. Upgrading Brompton is not necessary an expensive thing. The parts in the videos were mostly unused spare parts I bought from the eBay.
Some references on Chainring / Chain length ratios :
    Chain length: 96 links
44T front chain ring with single 12/13/14 tooth rear sprocket
    Chain length: 98 links
50T front chain ring with single 12/13/14 tooth rear sprocket (3 speed Brompton)
44T front chain ring with single 16T rear sprocket or double rear sprocket
    Chain length: 100 links
50T front chain ring with double rear sprocket (12/16 or 13/16)
54T front chain ring with single rear sprocket (12/13/14T)
    Chain length: 102 links
54T front chain ring with double rear sprocket (12/16 or 13/16)
Standard 2 speed uses a 54T front and 12/16 combination on the rear

Thanks, I am getting mixed information about whether 98 link chain can be used for 50 teeth chainring and 14t single rear sprocket for 3 speed Brompton. Can I ask where did you find the information?

Please check out "Brilliantbikes" UA-cam channel. I benefited from it a lot.

I was wondering if you could add a third sprocket in order to make it 9 speed!!?

Yes it can. But I think 6 speed is enough for me unless I decide to remove the internal 3 speed hub.

I just bought my black edition 2022. I am thinking of swapping the seat. How do you like your B17 Brooks saddle? Is it as comfortable as they say?

I think it is quite personal feeling but my opinion is that it is very comfortable but also quite heavy. I therefore also keep my original Brompton saddle just in case I need to travel around.

By using a proper tool wrench and - top for the purpose, you don't need the tube.

@@kkllbaba And if using the original Brompton toolset, for the frame, you may use the tube it is inside, as a handle.

Do we need to tune gear hub after changing the chainring?

No need. It works fine for me.

well done on your first upload. However, UA-cam will probably ban this video quite soon. Under the T&C's it is clearly stated that Jazz or any other improvised scratching on chalkboard noises is prohibited. It breaches the Human Rights Act 2018 and is regarded by the UN as a weapon of mass boredom. Accepted sounds are light whistling, humming and la de da's under 10db.
