Starting Therapy? What Teens Can Expect full video:
• Starting Therapy?? Wha...
We call this first therapy session a Client Assessment- and as much as it’s about us getting to know you as a potential Client, this is your opportunity to see if our style and expertise matches what you need, too.
While it is completely your choice about how much you reveal or decide to share in your sessions- I’d be careful about being too guarded because it could make it difficult for your therapist to complete a full assessment of your needs.
That being said, you get what you put in and it’s your therapy, and ultimately your life.
Mini-Disclaimer: While I am a therapist, this content is meant for educational and informational purposes only. It does not mean I am your therapist. Gentle Reminder that social media is NOT therapy.
Im sat here rn waiting for 4:00 to hit and then I have my first ever therapy session. I’m so scared about how it’s going to go but this video has rlly helped me.
How was it?

Oh yikes! I hope it gets better for you. I’m thinking about creating a resource for this because it’s super common! I responded a bit more fully on tonight’s LIVE call, too.

how was it?
my mom said that it might be a good idea if I would like to go to an doctor or a therapy. “Ofc there was some talking between me and my mom and I think that’s why she got this thought off me going to the doctor/therapy” keep in mind I’m from Denmark I live in Denmark. Okey so I just don’t really know what’s it’s like going to the doctor or therapy and talking about these thing i think it’s super super scary to talk about my self and that’s we’re my confidence slow down be cuz I don’t know if I should go or not but you’re Chanel helps so much but there is some things that I can’t really find the answer too and I’m scared to ask my parents or the closest and sense my profile is private I want to ask you a few questions it might be a bit weird but it’s something that I really care and took my courage to talk about and now I just wanna ask you these questions as if this was at the therapy or doctor and you answer if you have time!
Hello all the way in Denmark! So cool that you found my little channel over here in the US :) I actually featured your comment in this week's video where I responded to your comments :) you can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/tulqC7rwAuw/v-deo.html

Im terrified for my therapy session. I come from a family who just yells at me for self harm and its gonna be weird not having someone yell at me when i open up.
Totally normal for this to happen when you’re starting therapy (plus a quick tip from a therapist)
Do you have any tips on how I should ask my parents for help? I've been on and off in a dark place for the past 2 years now, but I can't bring myself to ask anyone. I feel like I'll get a sense of shame and judgment... How can I be more comfortable with those around me?
I sure do! Here are a few videos on asking your parents for help::

I’m so scared
What if I say something wrong and idk I just ahdhfjfi
That’s the beauty of therapy- we’re there to help you put the feelings you want to share into words 😊
I went and it was okay
Strictly informational the first two 😅
@@cyril4284 CONGRATS!! getting started can be tough but you did it!! :)
@@mallorygrimste thanks, I just have to get over the family trauma bump lol
Should i be 100% comfortable? Do therapists talk to my parents about our session?
Great questions- probably not being 100% comfortable is a good thing. Any new situation will give you a little anxiety/excitement because it’s new to us. As for talking to your parents every therapist has a different style so it’s best to ask them directly how much, when and why they’d talk with parents if that’s something they do.
Therapists make my blood boil
Oh no! Sorry you've had such a negative experience with therapists. Hope you can find healing elsewhere 🫶
She looks like she needs therapy
Thanks- as a therapist we're usually familiar with both sides of the couch 🛋️
