***** Well, the PS2 didn't stop getting produced until after over 10 years... And, besides, things are still moving rather slowly, there's still too many people wanting them, and buying them. And, the game devs are still learning how to push next-gen consoles to their limits. So... It will be a while...
And this is why I love Lord Karnage's reviews! IGN rates this game 7/10, Eurogamer (my usually trusted review site) gives it a lowly 6/10. CGR needs no scores. He says it all and it makes sense. At the end of the day, regardless of how many points this game racks up on corporate review charts; regardless of how spectacular the graphics are, or how much of a story there is, this game is pure fun. That is all it is and that is all it needs to be. I could play for hours and not get bored, particularly since so many members of the Steam community are constantly online. This game is fantastic so don't any of you let IGN or Eurogamer scores prevent you from buying it.
the reviewers on those sites are sodomites, whores and political activists that either dropped out of college or stumbled through a lowly english bachelor's program and are now jaded because they aren't taken seriously.
Good times. Me and my brother would play for hours at a time on split screen. We would set up for space battles and ground battles, and alternate in between. We would both load up in a spaceship, him as pilot and me as gunner, land on the enemy ship, and sneak in and take out the shield generator, rockets, life support, and automatic turrets. Oh man, those were the days. I remember arguing about who got to be vader or luke or whoever it was. And i spent FOREVER on conquest mode. I eventually conquered the whole galaxy. It was great. Miss this so much, a huge reason i love gaming to this day.

I remember getting this game on the first day it came out when I was 11 years old. Then I played it constantly all thanksgiving break. The memories man. I'm holding back tears now.

***** I agree. The EA battlefront was a huge cash grab. The lack of offline content is ridiculous. Withholding half the game as DLC is ridiculous. They spent 90% of their times it seems making the game look pretty, instead of actually making a fun game.

If you play hunt mode on naboo you get to murder gungans (aka jarjar) as a battle droid. And on psp if you play the imperial enforcer challenges you murder 50 jarjars as boba fett :D

The mods in the PC version....Oh my lord....they are AMAZING. People have done some incredible work with creating custom maps and skins. I'd play BF2 mod maps over EA's minimum effort cash-in any day of the week.

Am I the only one who thinks the first Battlefront's ground battles were way more fun? The space battles in 2 were cool and all, but you just can't beat the first one's gameplay.

Just the map screen and actually moving the ships around in galactic conquest was and still is such an awesome star wars experience

Battlefront II had Offline Multiplayer as a campaign.. which is one of the aspects that made it infinitely repalyable

Love setting bombs with Jango Fett, jet packing to the top of a building, waiting patiently... Here comes Chewy, jogging along... aaaaand... BOOM! He goes flying about 500 yards, over rows and rows of buildings. Wheeeeeee!!!

They soiled it. There is no battle front 3. It's Star Wars Battlefront E.A. An entirely different game that tries to compare itself to Battlefront 2, but simply can't. It fails miserably.

I am very skeptical of Battlefront 3. As much as I want to get hype, I know that it's coming from EA. If they release it broken like they did Battlefield 4 or lock off half the game in dlc like they seem to do with everything they release, I will be more disappointed then I've been in years.

One thing I hate about BF2 is the fact that the ground battles aren't amazing anymore. They are still fun but theyre lacking in many elements. First off, the game doesnt have any air vehicles in ground battles. I loved how you could fly a Gunship straight into the battle and then deploy troops while their is a huge battle going on on the ground in BF1. In BF2 they removed that feature.

No it doesn't have an excuse still. Your not supposed to mod your Xbox, it's illegal. And even if it wasn't illegal, it still has no excuse. When you buy the game you should get the full package, not just half of it.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: so awesome for the fans you get to kill Jar Jar Binks and all his friend(Naboo, Clone Wars, Hunt). Battlefront EA: so insulting to the fans you dont even get clone wars
Only thing i hated in this game was that there were no air vehicles, aside from Snowspeeders.

A friend gifted it to me yesterday (I didn't even know it was on PC until he did so) and it's working perfectly for me. Already have 10 hours put in.
What I used to do is playing in Mos Eisley using the siths, the jedis, etc. In a great lightsaber showdown, I don't know if everyone knows how to do that or it's just me and a few other people, anyway that was awesome.

I had the demo of that game in a friend's PS2 and I played just that demo more than some of my games (such a fun game and with a big sence of freedom) *.*
I love this game, I remember the old days with my PS2, now I play it on steam.
I have alot of good memories playing this with my cousins.
I have the PC version and its awesome. You can download a lot of mods, custom maps and skins.
I really hope that we'll see a Battlefront 3!
To continue the Star Wars Battlefront theme, you should do the PSP versions and then the similar game The Lord of the Rings: Conquest. Like Battlefront with swords. A neat wrinkle in LotR Conquest was after completing the levels and finishing the game, you could play as the evil forces of Mordor, alternatively recovering the One Rink from Frodo in Mount Doom and then going on ruinous missions to destroy the forces of men and elves in truly grim fashion. Wonderful stuff!
You should have showed off the Heroes vs. Villains mode at Mos Eisely. That was pretty awesome. XD

If you like playing this play on instant action mode and select hunt levels only and you canbe jaws, ewoks, sand people, wampas and more! Also if you kill enough guys in spacific ways depending on your weapon you'll unlock special weapons like Jango fett's blaster which is as powerfully as 3 sniper rifles combined. And also in instant action mod if you select assault on mosisle canteena you will only have heros battle so death Vader and Darth maul will fight Luke sky walker side by side.

You should check out the star wars battlefront 2 dark times mod for pc if you have the pc version. It radically enhanced the playable content in the Original Trilogy Era. Brought back the maps from BF1 that weren't in BF2, brought in characters and worlds from the post ROTJ universe such as Mara Jade, brought in pre-ep IV rebel fighters, brought in Lando, Admiral Thrawn ETC and it brought in Force Unleashed characters such as Starkiller, Kota, and Kota's militia men for instance.
There are 2 psp exclusive SWBF games that I'd like to see reviewed;
Elite Squadron and Renegade Squadron. I know you'll like reviewing them as much as I'd like seeing them reviewed. Once you get used to the controls, they're the best portable SW games ever.
Completely in agreement Mark, this is my favourite Star Wars game of all time, with X-Wing Alliance as a close second.
Literally my ONLY complaint is the lack of air support during planetside missions, like there was in the first game.
I have one of the launch copies for PS2 my Dad found in his friend's garage sales and it's my absolute favorite game of all time. Also, I can beat almost anyone at it because that's how long I spent playing it. It's so good that it's the main reason I prefer my PS2 to my Wii.

The last time I played BF2 on the PC was a few months ago and there were still a few servers running that were quite populated, often full at peak times. I'd think it was still popular now.
