One way I like to address this issue is to say that calling someone 'father' should denote a true relationship, and then it's natural and right. Jesus condemned the demanding of titles and status in relations to others. People should be humble and not demand recognition, but humble people also know they should give rightful recognition to others. Hence we have people in true relationships calling each other by familial terms. The root of rebellion and of breaking relationships is so much a part of protestantism, many of them are blind to their own hypocrisy and double standards. As a former protestant I ask you all pray for protestants because many need the right Spirit in them.
