Hi Lexi, another super helpful and comprehensive video like the powder one you did which literally took forever bc of the magnitude of the task. This is a great resource for people who want to start or add to their collections. I wish I wasn't guessing as much when I started but at least I started with Sonia G when she first launched. Thank you for your dedication to excellence and always wanting to help others.
Lexi, u blew this brush recommendation video 👏🏼OUT👏🏼OF👏🏼THE👏🏼PARK!! Your descriptions, explanations, intelligence etc…are absolutely excellent. I have learned so much from u. It’s so refreshing to watch someone that truly is so passionate and knowledgeable about what they enjoy & love. Thank u so much for all of your hard work & dedication to your channel and your viewers.
Lexi that was SO informative for me as a novice. Your explanation of the different types of hair and how to use them makes this video super practical. Thank you!
Such an amazing video Lexi!! I learn so much for all of your videos!! I highly recommend the Sonia G Fusion series! I love the mix of natural and synthetic hair. It’s so practical and beautiful!! Thank you again!!
Great review and explanation of hair and brush styles!!👏👏👏 I didn't really think about the bundled hairs not being cut and they are the real ends. Makes total sense.
Your fude collection is just as drool worthy as your makeup collection. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this and I am sure this took a lot of time to get together. It is much appreciated!!!!
Lexi! ❤I feel like I have just finished a graduate course in fude and other makeup brushes. 😂 Thank you ! You always help me in the hunt for the best. 😊
Lexi, excellent video on brushes! You are very knowledgeable on brushes. I wish I had this information when I first started purchasing brushes but I started with Sonia G and you can’t go wrong there. I definitely see my brush collection growing for different uses. You have so many brushes how do you keep all your brushes organized. 😆Great video very thorough & helpful one I’ll be saving. 😊🌺
Thank you! I keep most of them in utensil holders on my desk, organized by brush category. My foundation brushes are in a drawer and some of my special powder brushes are as well. Starting with Sonia G was smart! I think overall, her brushes are the best mix of luxury and functionality.
Fusion series from SG are one of the best ones to use with cream liquid products , I’m so happy with rephr brushes for eyes. I also recommend the hakuhodo brushes too definitely the best with powders. I love the new jumbo SG bronzer brush. Well most all the ones you recommended are the ones I use the most Sonia G jumbo bronzer, lotus detail, smooth buffer Reprh 31,13,14,25,16,03,05,04,24, Hakuhodo g5545,g5700,g6530,g512,b507, b5521,g5522, g5523N
Though am pleased to see some of the brushes you recommend to start with are in my collection. I've just repurchased the rephr 31 as I like it so much I wanted two
I will do an updated video on that but here is my previous one: ua-cam.com/video/URI1EFygSdY/v-deo.html. Not that much has changed. I like to keep mine by category for the most part.
This is so so useful!! Would you consider making a video on how you look after your brushes? I’m really curious as how you wash, dry and preserve the longevity of these precious precious babies!!☺️
Dear Lexi, thank you for a wonderful and comprehensive video! I've just placed an order of many Sonia G recommendations via your affiliate link. I can't wait to receive them! I hope you're doing great :) x
Hello Lexi ☺️ happy Mother’s Day ! If choosing a back up brush between Sonia g lotus detail and sky mini cheek , which one would you pick ? Also what about a bronzer ( mini keyaki, jumbo and niji pro ..)what would you definitely get as a back up ?thanks for you reply
Personally, I love the angle of the Lotus Detail over the Mini Cheek and I like the Jumbo Bronzer best provided you have both options already but I go for light bronzer so if you are looking for something to do more contouring and precision with, go with the Niji. I think the mini sizes of both of these are great and worth having for traveling so if you have a full-size, I would get the mini as backup.
Lexi I love, love this video. I love how you paired the brushes and gave explanation for your choices. I am a fude lover also. I have no chickhuhodo brushes but I do have Hakahudo, Sonia G, Rephr and Esum brushes. Your 3 concealer, Sonia foundation, some of the eyeshadows etc I do have. My powder brush is from Hakhuhodo. Nonetheless, I am happy to see the ones I don’t have and know how they perform. Brushes are my favorite things. They cost a lot to me because I dont live in the US and the conversion rate and custom duties does hit hard so I plan my purchases. It also means I appreciate videos like these because I can’t afford to buy overhyped products/brushes. Can you also do a video for intermediate buyers.
That is an excellent idea Jamilia! Thank you so much for the suggestion and I am so glad this was helpful. I will start working on an intermediate video soon!
Hello Lexi, Thank You very much for such as great video ! I just started my collection for fude brushes and your video is so helpful !!! I have a question, how do you taking care for your brushes ?
I have a video on that here: ua-cam.com/video/URI1EFygSdY/v-deo.html. I wash my brushes more often than most people. Most people wipe them on a cloth or brush them in some plain powder before wiping them on a cloth and use them for a month or so before washing.
Thanks for sharing such a great information!:) Regarding the powder brushes you didn’t specify which brush is best for pressed powder (to set and buff). Or the ones you recommended are good for both types of powder?
It depends how you are using your pressed powder but for a light layer dusted over the skin, all of those are good options. If you want to really buff it in, go with something like the Sonia G Face One / Buffer Pro or Smooth Buffer. The Master Face is a great in between option for a mix of airiness and slight buffing action.
I really love my Sonia g face one buffer and smooth buffer brush but I have Sahara dry skin and sometimes it’s pokey for me (not the brushes fault) .. do you think the Chikuhodo fo- 2 fox would work same? Or can you suggest another one? ❤
Yes, that is the softest I have in that style and it will work the same but it is much smaller so it will just take a little bit longer. I think you will like it though. It is incredibly soft!
I am not sure. If you email Toshiya on fudejapan, he should be able to tell you. Either way his shipping is inexpensive even before the free shipping threshold.
It’s $22-23 for shipping to the US from Fude Japan. The minimum for free shipping is around $350-$360. I just got some Hakuhodo mixed hair squirrel/goat brushes from him and the Kyureido cheek and eye brushes from him. The cheek one is perfect for under-eye powdering of maturing eyes. Spectacular! I think I’ll go back to pick up the powder brush on your recommendation Lexi! Thanks for your fabulous brush videos!
They are not traditional fude but they are made by the classic fude brush makers such as hakuhodo and created with the same techniques so i still consider them fude and they have the fude certifications as well. I have to admit that I don't find the WG as great and I consider SG to be more of a modern twist on traditional fude but she rarely uses specialized hairs anymore so I know that some people do put her brushes in a separate classification. In my opinion, a lot of it is like the "old money vs. new money" classifications that people use and SG are quality fude brushes although a newer brand. Rephr brushes are also technically fude brushes but because of their hair selections, they are more of an entry-level, lower tier in comparison.
Gonna disagree on needing a good foundation brush. If you're a foundation that can't be applied with my hands and look good, you're not the foundation for me. You need to go away. I do not like using brushes for foundation at all. But otherwise, yes, you would probably need one! LOL

Awesome! Thank you!
Do you have something very comparable to recommend for the discontinued Chikuhodo KZ4?
I haven't found one just like it but the Chikuhodo Ren 6 that just came out is close and is also a favorite.

I know the yen is really low right now so it’s a better value than buying at fude beauty
