Graduated from College in 1983 and immediately started working in downtown Seattle. Hardly anything had changed from those 1973 shots in pre-Microsoft, pre-Grunge 1983 Seattle. Moved to Portland in '89.
Those comparison shots of the J & M Cafe 2:46 are incredible. Drank a lot of beers there. It's nice to see it's still the same place.
There is a scene early in the film in a little greasy spoon lunch counter on Alaska Way. I think some guy gets shot there. That place was still operating when I started working in Seattle but I'm sure it's long gone by now.

Really nice job on this. I had seen this film years ago, but it really comes alive when you do them side-by-side like this, also that theme music is ace.

You'll have to do an update now that the Alaskan Way viaduct is gone. That will be dramatically different.

great job. it has changed so much in the 4 years with the viaduct removal. there was a couple scenes where I was thinking they are going the wrong way on a one way street. Not from what I saw on the screen, but by instinct.

shoutout to J. Nesbitt... Good eye! The elevated Alaskan Viaduct was demolished not long after these re shoots! Am I the only one who noticed a distinct lack of shots showing the space needle in the movie?

Wow, amazing! I just looked at your channel and this is really great. I heard you on the radio and it sounded really cool. My only tip is to maybe put the movie title at the beginning of the title instead of the end to tell which videos are which, as the full title isn't often shown. Other than that, really nice channel. Greetings from Olympia! :)

    Two things,
    1. This movie is the first movie that featured John Wayne driving a car, instead of riding a horse, and
    2. I believe the Seattle police department still has all the cruisers you see in this video in their collection of police memorabilia.

  • @joker3092

Nice video, but I'm curious why you didn't go up to the beach and film at Moclips where they had the chase scene? The road where they drive down to the beach is called Analyde Gap, and they drive under a train trestle( which is no longer there) to go on to the beach. Went there a few years back to see it pretty cool. One final trivia note: my High School PE teacher was John Wayne's stunt double in this movie.

0:25 I think you're off by about a block, judging by the bent in the viaduct and the gable of the building in the background. (I think you based it on the cop's position, but there's a jump cut after he enters the door.)
I guess it's too late to reshoot it now with the viaduct gone :(

I remember watching this movie and not recognizing things, then realized how much was torn down to build the Kingdome. And of course that's gone now, and even the viaduct. It's all tent city now.
