- In 1991, the "Like A Rock" advertising campaign was launched for Chevrolet trucks, with Bob Seger's song of the same name serving as its foundation. The campaign ran through 2004 and is regarded as one of the auto industry's most successful.
Bob and this song sold a helluva lotta Chevy's in the 90's.
Dang straight!!!
Oh for sure 👍🏻👍🏻
Those 1989-1998 Chevy/GMC trucks are the best thing ever created by mankind. Most of them are still seen on the roads today!👍
@@justindb18 better believe it
You hit the nail on the head.
I'm a ford man and watching all of these Chevy "Like a rock" commercials are about to convert me over to the chevy truck side lol
C'mon!! They really are like a rock!!!!
They are all junk now...
Advertising is powerful
@@AS-yb1dk just the 2019-2021’s 😒
They were all great trucks! Long live the 90s pick ups!
They genuinely were build like rocks back then! Miss these timeless commercials, when trucks weren’t built like luxury cars for soccer moms.
What are you talking about? New Silverados are amazing!
@@APatriotRevivalya looks real nice but I rented one the engine light was on at 2k miles on the dash, just getting in her🤦♂️
@@Trollinskyy You can't judge a car based on what a rental was like. You know a lot of rental places don't maintain their vehicles, not to mention the abuse customers put them through? If practically any vehicle has the Check Engine light on at 2k miles, something has been damaged, that's not just from being driven around.
@@APatriotRevival Dude you totally can judge a good car by a rental counterpart, if any car can mechanically survive being a rental, its golden, just dont buy the rental, look for one thats been garaged and 1 owner and you got yourself a good car.
@@Initial_Gopnik I don't think you understand the abuse rentals are put through. Rental places typically lie about stuff like that. Would you trust any other expensive thing used? Like a kitchen appliance that's been previously owned for years?
When I was in elementary school, these commercials were common. Our school had a janitor/custodian named Mike Rock. He was great. He was kind to us kids, never minded cleaning up after our shenanigans. We all loved him. My class got the idea to celebrate his birthday by acting out and singing "like a rock" and even made him a little plaque. We also joked that he was "built Ford tough". 😅.
Not sure if you're still residing on this mortal coil, Mr Rock, just know you were loved and respected by so many
Didn't you hear about all those kids he diddled?
my uncle Walter is in this one and since he passed away all of my family come to watch him on this. He was so great and this has been such a joy to our great big family. Thanks for keeping it around so we can enjoy it.
at what time dude, point him out.

That's awesome

Man I almost teared up watching this Chevy Truck throwback commercial! I looked out the window while listening, gazing at my Victory Red 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500- 5.3- 4x4 WT Single Cab, Short Box! With my lips quivering, and as my eyes watered up, I said in a broken voice.....Red your getting that oil change I promised & rear brakes done today!!! I love you Red🥺❤️ Like a rock.
I did 😂😂😂
Me too,it was a better time in my life,Seger singing that song just pushed me over the edge,I guess.@@clodge5196
This commercial was immortalizedcwith the talent of Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band.
Please bring back commercials like this again
With trucks that live up to the vibe!
I’m the guy covered in mud in this video…took production 2 hours to apply it for the 2 second shot
The 3 commercials of my childhood:
Beef: It's What's for Dinner
Mentos: The Freshmaker
Chevrolet: Like a Rock
song before beef!
If I threw a battery in my 92 it’d start right up. They truly are solid trucks
Great song, remember this commercial being played during nfl games in the 90's
He sung that shit with so much passion. Definitely remember being a younging growing up in Chicago hearing this
💀💀💀
😂😂😂
They played these commercials so much in the 90s that it’s engraved into my memory. Even the song cut off at the end I always know which note it ends on and sometimes I’ll get it stuck in my head lol. Bring back those Budweiser frogs!!!!!
Makes me proud to own and daily drive my 93 Cheyenne. I even feature it in my UA-cam videos here and there. I miss the Chevrolet brand/company of the 90s.
I was a senior in highschool and dreamed of one day owning a Chevy Truck! Im driving & restoring a 2004 WT 4x4 WT Single Cab Short Box currently!!!
@@bukimoore2645 good to hear! Nice truck to bring back to life too!
Used to drive an old Cheyenne at work. Don't remember the year but man I loved driving that mf'er all over town haha
@@rodvasold1796 I still enjoy it! Especially now that my truck is 30 years old. I’m almost guaranteed to be the oldest vehicle on the road and I love that! I got it with 122k, I rebuilt the engine at 163k and I’m up to 218k right now.
@@GoodTimeBikes Hell yeah brother. Them old chevy's were like a rock! 🤘
This commercial always takes me back to my childhood. I don't know why a commercial has so much sentimental value for me but I always tear up watching this.
When I was about twenty I used to go to dealerships and grab all the brochures for cars and trucks. I had hundreds from 1988-1992, when I moved I lost affection for them and threw them out. I had 1991 Jeep Safari brochures and Lincoln and everything. Man I so should have kept them.
I did that too! Lol. Big shiny magazine pages. Too young to drive, but loved cars n trucks.
Same here I loved the hotrod magazines too
Miss my 92 Chevy truck, had it for 13yrs, should have never gotten rid of it.
I have a 92 Sierra which still gets used most days as “our old farm truck”. I just love it.
The Chevy/GMC trucks built between 1989-1998 were the best vehicles ever built. Everywhere I go, I still see so many of them on the road today. I just love them.
I miss the 90s
This is a car type commercial I never forgot! Great song by Bob Seager!!
Ive owned em all, but this era of chevy commercials will always be the best.
What's with all the comments calling new Chevy's a P.O.S.? I've driven several Chevy trucks from a span of the 70s-Present. They're all amazing. Chevrolet is the king of American trucks.
Daily driver 1991 K1500 8ft 4x4 350 tbi bed still going strong 💪🤠.
Great Trucks 💪🏻🤠👍🏻 Also still loving my '93 C1500 SportSide with the 350 TBI. Just some tubular headers & Flowmaster exhaust for the daily dosis of V8 rumble 😊
Strong like a rock!🪨
I know it’s social conditioning and advertising, but a man driving a big truck, not for show, but for real work, still gets me! When I grew up in Texas in the 90s, most men drove trucks. Gets it’s a built in mindset!
Hoo boy I tell you what, this was just a normal commercial as a kid but now I’m wondering how they got “like a rock, standing arrow straight” on tv and nobody batted an eye
My 1991 K1500 stepside is still running strong. Despite many offers, I don't ever plan to get rid of her. 17.5 years of dependability.
I have a 92 Sierra 1500. Still going strong and still a very important farm truck for us in rural Manitoba.
The best vehicles ever built are the 90s gmc and Chevy trucks.
I have the same truck (91 stepside). 170K on it and still going strong.
My dad is the guy in the wheelchair..first mini van for the handicap..he past away in 1996..
My condolences
I want to see this commercial on TV an UA-cam like it used to come on back in the good ol days!
I worked at a Chevy dealer in the late 90's in So Cal and I promised myself I would have one of these trucks, well I have two and they are beautiful, a 94 and a 98. And Ive won trophies for both.
Truck commercials, from all makes, were so much better back then
I love my Chevy ❤❤
The Chevy at the beginning. Like a rock!!! I was strong as I could be!!!
Back then before actors took over , the good ol days.
The commercial oozed Americana at the time. God bless the USA or the remnant of it.
Classic commercials
Love my 2008 Chevy Silverado 4x4 and it is : LIKE A ROCK!!💪
God damn it... this is the truck I want. I've got a 2019 AT4, but it's nothing compared to these trucks. UAW is who provides trucks like this. Thank the UAW for the toys we have.
you know what that dually is called that's going around in the dirt??
I love my 96 Chevrolet Silverado. It's a daily driver. ❤
This is peak 1990s right here, folks.
Gold Standard for advertising right here. Always owned a Ford….but this makes me wanna drive a Bow tie.
When America Made Trucks out of Steel, made with Quality, and showed the last Hurrah of what America was.
Then the 2000s rolled in and let Brazil and Japan decide what "Quality" is. And we ended up with a POS pretend Chevrolet that was like a dirt clod, pretty much a light duty street truck. Then they try to butter us up with the classic look but not the quality.
If I plan Silverado. I want a steel or better body that can take a hit, pull a mountain and look nice.
The 89-97 Silverado CK +1500 Truck and Suburban is toughest made, most high quality American Truck line for its time.
"...Brazil and Japan decide what quality is" ? What was the interference of Brazil on US market? I mean, the trucks sold here were never the same you guys have there. Only the names were, basically.
The Red pickup in the tornado brought me here
My dad and mom and sister are in this commercial:)
And you? :)
0:34 the cutest part of the video
Delightful Chevy truck ad.
Narrator: The trucks you can depend on...the trucks that last.
Chevy Trucks. The Heartbeat of America is Winning.
This spot was ran from 1991 to 2004.
It's 2024 and I'm daily driving a 1986 k30 single wheel with the ol 6.2,th400,np208,Dana 60 and 14 bolt.

Ugh our mom had a timer on the VCR to record hers so we couldn’t watch anything but that during those hours 😂
Don't you wish you could buy a Chevy today that was made as good back then
No woke crap. Just hard working Americans and bad ass Chevy teucks
You damn right!
The New 2023 chevy commercial is a good one😊 😢❤
Yea, those old school TBi trucks were very well built. Good times.
My 98 Z71 K1500 ...Ole Blue...Like A Rock...
My 99 Tahoe is like a rock
So is my 95 Yukon
Ahhh back when no one gave a dam about Bluetooth apple car play and how many USB ports the truck had. Can it hold a cow in the bed? Well they demonstrated it in the commercial
0:22 don't turn your back on that guy .....just don't do it
😂
Real trucks for real men who work.
It’s actually doing truck things in the commercial
Not like them new commercials where the guy is just going to his corporate office
The good old days when Chevy was like a rock!
I’m happy because I’m a proud owner of a ‘95 Tahoe
my mom has a 01 suburban and its completly stock the only problem was a power window failure but we fixed that
They should bring these back, but they won't. It would be false advertising with today's trucks! LOL

Good for Chevy fans
take out the announcer voice-over and it's the perfect ad
Places sure was careless when loading your new Chevy truck back in 1992 😂
Chevrolet trucks, often called “Chevy” trucks, are a division of General Motors Corporation, sometimes known as “GM.”
Chevy trucks the authentic Like a Rock

Everyone depicted here in this commercial would be cancelled by today’s standards.
Nothing like Chevy
Old these old timers in here… I wouldn’t trade my 2019 Silverado Texas Edition Z71 for anything

The 90s and early 2000s … everything the Americans built were mediocre for the most part. But not the trucks.

Who else is here watching this because the 2023 GM Super Bowl commercial sucks?
Chevys were good in those days but ford reigns supreme over them since 2005
Uh oh, they've taken over your mind!
@@APatriotRevival No seriously they are lemons ever since the bailout same goes for chryslers merge with fiat
@@renj6531 You can surely think that, but it doesn't make it true. Ignoring the unreasonable logic that a bailout would flip the scale, and that Chevy's done several bailouts and produced better things following them, Ford is an awful brand.
Their cars are built crappily with cheap parts and have one of the worst reliability and maintenance ratings of any vehicles on the road.
I'm not sure how one can hold this idea unless they've never owned a Ford or it never moves. I've known many mechanics and enthusiasts, along with my own general knowledge of cars, and we mostly have the same consensus.
I have known some mechanics who liked Ford, but funnily enough, every diesel mechanic I've known hates them, not sure what that means LOL.

When trucks were trucks now they r garbage
It's about as reliable as a rock
Back when being a patriotic American was considered normal AWSOME and amazing…what the f… happened?!?!🤪🙄🤮
Have you seen new Chevy and Dodge commercials? They're still very patriotic. Can't say the same for Ford but who really cares about them anymore?
You mean back when republicans were normal and didn’t suck off trump and the russians like a back alley Slovenian desperate for American citizenship? Republicans aren’t normal anymore.
@@APatriotRevivalyou mean Found On Road Dead 😩
@@antoinettelabaeka4353 LOL good one
I crushed so many of these in cash for clunkers, I’m proud of that. God forbid the American people have reliably rebuildable vehicles.
Use to be hmmmm cheap plastic from China
Hahaha! A 90's commercial. Shit it's 2020. Chevys are turd. The new ones are build in Mexico. It will break and fall apart in a couple of years. Like a rock blocking traffic on the highways and streets. Honda, Toyota and Nissan are more American than Chevy. At least they're build in the USA.
Only some are made mexico. Look at the VIN #, if it's starts with a 1(Made in USA), 2(Made in Canada), 3(made in Mexico).
They're actually all made in America. They're partly assembled in Mexico, that's because it's cheaper and saves them money. New Chevy's are just as good as old ones. I've driven several from 70s-Today.
I hated that dam song
I loved it
Have you no soul?
I don't know why but I use to think this nigga was saying Guygara it's like a rock smh I didn't know what it meant I just thought it was tough as hell.
Make Chevys's Like A Rock and affordable Again.
I hope GM goes bankrupt with this EV bullshit.
They're still making great trucks that run on gas. They have no plans of stopping. The whole EV craze was fueled by Ford, Chevy has to act like they care too. Chevy's still putting millions into V8 stuff.
Is that Bob Seger?
