    I hope you try this exercise - I find it so useful not only to teach the horse but to keep me honest too.

    Appreciate your clear directions and not editing out mistakes. Sometimes when watching instructional videos, its all so perfectly executed. When I try an exercise, it feels like failure attempting it because my horse takes the wrong steps and I'm making all sorts of corrections. Good to see mistakes and how they are corrected. Liked how your horse improved in his suppleness through repetition.

      I used to as well Vickie and that’s why I don’t edit them out. I always wanted to know what to do when it went wrong (as it always did for me 😆) and I couldn’t find anything but perfect videos. Thanks for your comment I appreciate it. 😊

    Just discovered your channel and is fantastic! Doesn’t matter how well you can ride, getting the basics right is important right from the start! I haven’t done this exercise for quite a few years. I probably need to watch it a few more times! How to use your outside rein is always something I feel is never explained when in lessons- how to use and when exactly to use! Thank you.

    This is exactly what I have been looking for on UA-cam. Wish I found it first before watching 2hrs of unhelpful vids. Much appreciated!

    Tried this a few days ago & it has really helped us get the feeling. Finding my horse is softer afterwards & comes more naturally into contact as we turn.
    Thanks

    Josie I love your videos they're so helpful in helping me to remember all the basics of riding! I've not ridden in 30 years and am going to school for a bachelor's in Therapeutic Horsemanship and they're helping to give me motivation and strength to work on the apprehension.

    I love this exercise, my horse is 24 and she’s not been ridden much prior to my owning her. I’m starting her slow walk/trot and a bit of canter until she builds muscle. Been trying mostly to engage her brain. I think this will be perfect for her. Thank you so much.

    That is what I was looking for, I was riding for about 2 years, and no one explained things quickly and clearly like this. Thank you for that. I have a question; I'm still confused when using my hand and my leg when trotting or cantering; when you turn your horse to the right or to the left, besides using your leg aids, I was wondering if you pull on your rein?

  • @evaburgess3648
    @evaburgess3648 Рік тому

    Could I ask what order you should train various exercises in. What I mean is I have been working on rhythm, contact & suppleness. And we have been working on turns on the forehand. Now I am introducing inside leg to outside rein.
    Is that the right order and what comes next?

    I somehow can't figure out how to add pressure with my leg without cramping my whole leg.. do you have any tips or tricks on how to use the specific muscles for the leg aid for the inside leg?

  • @cinderella2761
    @cinderella2761 3 роки тому

    Hello Josie, I wondered is the inside leg to outside rein the way people get the horse to lift it's back and should you ride inside leg to outside rein on straight lines all the time too? Thank you
