Its good they emphasize the positivity for the dog, because someone glancing might think the intensity and focus isnt fun or good for the dog. Its totally the opposite, the dogs love it and are so, so into it. German shepards, or at least these ones, are super driven and motivated and its great for 'em
A good trained Schutzhund can be a perfect family dog/companion dog. If they're trained properly they can perfectly distinguish between serious or casual situations. I know many german shepherds, belgian malinois etc that live in harmony in families but are 100% dependable if needed.
I want to join a shutzhound club so bad because I wanna to be a k9 handler eventually and it would look really good on a portfolio.Im I’m love with German Shepherds but I don’t have one,I wish I could get one to practice the sport.Im 16 and am wondering if I could even participate but I can’t find any clubs near where I live.It would be awsome if you could respond with some advice,thank you!
Can working line dogs participate in dog show..Or if not what kind of show where they can participate...Like I am from india KCI (Kennel club of india) like others k9 or AKC..So for the show here one should be KCI registered
IPO (Internationale Prüfungs-Ordnung). It's a 4-part German Shepherd Dog competition, involving tracking, obedience, bite work, and then the show at the end. The show is based on breed standard, so a show dog will usually win that, however the scores from each (tracking, obedience, bite work, show) are added up, so a working line dog will always win as the show line dogs cannot compare in any of the other three categories. The working line dogs are far superior.
Schützhund isn't a sport, Schützhund means "protection dog". (Schütz = protection. Hund = dog). It's like.. saying the sport of "footballer" or "boxer" rather than "football" and "boxing".
I cannot help you directly, however, you can find her through the Texas Schutzhund Club on FB. (I hate FB, but it what all the dog folks use). I was in your shoes about 3 months ago, and I had little luck finding the right working line GSD pups in the Central Texas area. No ‘bad’ on the breeders in CT. For me, it was all about timing. Ended up going to Indiana! However, that decision was directed, in part, by the trainer I intend to use. In fact, that might be a great place for you to start: find your club or instructor, and work backwards. Also, DogWorx, both where you are and a little further north, where I am, they have an excellent reputation, as best I can tell, Best of luck!!
Interested in the Worlds top pedigree for Schutzhund? I have puppies that will be available in May of 2023. I'm trying to advertise these puppies that have such great potential. I live in the north central U.S. but delivery is available. Because of my location I am trying to get the word out. Winners of several world championships. Prices are very reasonable.
