Thank you. Our 4 year old GSD mix rescue (and I) have struggled with a proper heel managing only a cheater's heel. One session and she's picked it up. Will be our new walking method from here on out. Zero reactivity walking past a group of 8 dogs then following closely behind the pack, and no need to yank on the slip lead. It's like an early Christmas present. And only 28k views? Guess it's our little secret.... JK sharing for sure!
My pup is 10 months old. I started training him to sit, stay, place, and down-- we're now on heel. He keeps disengaging after the treats, so I may just have to start doing it like this with more frequent reinforcement. Solid video.

Awesome skulls brother. We just got a 13 year old Bischon frieze rescue dog and I'm training him following your advice. I'm starting with the lure. He's small and im 6ft2, but I'm giving it everything he deserves so that he has quaility if life😊
Fluffy's neck!! 😂😂 Love Mr Lincoln and your videos Andy.. here in England they're banning the ecollar 🙄 my girl will still wear hers and her prong when needed.. boom 💥
This is fabulous, just started to work with my 6 month old GSD. Is the beginning so good right in face. So enjoyable and this next level looks brilliant. Wonderful for bonding. Thank you
I think this is so cool. I have a 4 month old German Shepherd, since she was.6 weeks old. I have started the Heel exercise today. Thank you for sharing!❤
Love it! Thank you for covering all that ground in one video. Heeling, the prong collar - those have been such valuable lessons that I got from you and used with my dogs. They went from being sometimes unmanageable to the star dogs of the neighborhood!
Man honestly you are the best trainer I ever see in my live, I am your follower and I always will be. I love your videos brother and I learned a lot from you. Thanks again for your videos.
Thank you for your training videos man. Im starting to watch and learn now on what to do and how to go about training a dog. Im a long ways out before i get to training. But appreciate what your teaching us
Thanks Andy, super motivation for the dog and me almost feel like him ready to interact with You 😅... Super introduction and approbiate use of TRAINING collar. The prong collar is for training, smothly and light'n easy directing Your dog not for punishing Your Best Friend 👍👍👍
😂 a small dog commit tickled me! So glad I found you and watched both video's. Yes, training takes time! Going to put this to use , this leash pulling hurts me as well as him. I want my Boo-Boo to be well mannered and more enjoyable! Thank you for show us to teach our dogs better behaviors!!!!
Another great video! Perfect example of engagement! Your movements really help the dog to stay focused on you. I have ppl ask me if my Corso ever pulls on leash? My answer is he never had a chance, I taught him to heel. At 120lbs at 7 months old? So VERY grateful he has a fantastic heel. Btw- when he was a smaller? aka a little dog? I survived bending over to do it 😅😂❤😊
I really love those training pockets, they seem to be key to the heel command as you can get treats quickly and repeatedly in large quantities. Where can I buy some? Thanks
My 5 month old Giant Schnauzer keeps pushing/leaning on my left leg while teaching him to walk beside me. When I step a few inches away while trying to hold him in that position with the leash, he will keep coming towards my side to get closer so he’s back to pushing on my leg again. Ugh……. ***Update***…..Marschall is doing much better walking by my side ! I started making a lot of right turns and reverse turns and it has made quite a difference. He seems to be paying more attention on where we’re going instead of leaning on my leg now.
Cool video Andy!! :) How long should I lure my dog and when can I fade the lure with Pup? I have 14 weeks mix Malinois GSD How about keeping head up vertically? should I focus on that when start learning or can i master that later??
Hi andy how long did it take you to get him to this point in this video As im doing this with my gsd twice a day and im where you were in the first video Thanks love your videos
I’m sixteen years old and last deer season I had trouble tracking one of the deer I shot now I’m training my lab/heeler mix to track whitetail and now that she stays with me it was really easy to find deer last season she ran off and instead of me tracking my buck I ended up having to track my dog then tracked my buck down 4 hours later half eaten she actually stays with me now so thank you bro
Food in hand is a bit back breaking if you have a tiny dog,so I just say "by me" and she now knows to walk beside me and I'll give her an occasional treat and she stays beside me until I say "go now".
I’ve always looked up training videos specific to my dog breed. Don’t get me wrong this is a good channel but I’ve just always liked finding the specific dog in the video because u can see a lot of little details that are useful for your exact dog.
I like having a magnetized ball that I stick high on the back of my vest. That way the ball is still there but now not in sight. Reward one or two steps at a time. The dog must believe the ball is there without seeing it. Makes for a smooth transition 👍🏻
Hi Andy, my dog doesn't really know real competition heel like you showing us there. He knows perfectly loose leash walk/off leash walk with me walking by my side, but this is not perfect real heel command. My queistion is ( he has good food luring foundation ), how much days should i food-lure heel with him to gain focus for moving to the next step, heeling without food.
@@AndyKruegerAnd Andy... Did you have 2 different commands for "heeling"? One for real competition heeling, other for basic loose walking. I use " heel " for competition heeling with focus and " with me " for basic loose on and off leash walking on my side.

Hey Andy! I’m wondering if you have any videos on training dogs not to take any food unless they hear a command to? Ziggy is doing excellent but she’s extremely food motivated. For safety reasons I would like to train her not to accept food at all unless she gets the ok. She’s good with leave it, but that’s dependent on me being perfect all the time and I don’t like those odds you know?

I know that half the time she's simply not hungry enough, so the day before I plan to do training work I deliberately withhold her dinner /breakfast, but sometimes she still doesn't look at me (aka she follows based on the leash movement she can feel). Use the dog’s food instead of treats.
About a half cup of kibble 👍🏻

Prong collar causes my dog to constantly scratch his neck which is annoying
