If you're black then you probably not only think your mother is crazy, but you also know when to NOT try her. Fact is, every black momma has this look they give when they are two seconds from going ape sh*t on their kid. We're not sure if it's in their DNA or they get some type of handbook with facial gestures and hand signals, but they ALL do it.
There are also some non-black moms that use the technique as well and find that it comes in handy when their kid needs some act right. Sandra Bullock is one of those moms. But are we surprised? Bullock has two adopted black children, a son, Louie, and daughter, Laila.
Both are super adorable, but sometimes Bullock says she has to give them the infamous look.
We had to ask Sandy about being a mom since she plays one on her new flick "Bird Box" and is super protective.

The first look was “you better straighten the fuck up right now” and the second look is “wait till we get home”😭😭😭 I know them very well
Right...🤣🤣🤣frfr
Hahahahha that's so funny!!
Or you're gonna get it...with the smile.:)
🤣
Them looks end up being scarier than if they’d just start yellin 😂 I can play defense with a loud momma, but a silent momma is about to eat her young with her “silent-stalking-catch-my-prey” look 🤣
I got in a staredown with my daughter once. She made me laugh and I could tell by the look on her face that I had no power over this child.
☺️😂😂
Hahaha.
Sadly. That not even funny...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
She’s a daddy’s girl.
I was about 10 at the time and my dad was yelling at me saying to stop being a smart ass. I looked at him and said "dad I would rather be a smart ass than a dumbass" he looked at me and walked out of the room. A few minutes later I heard him laughing his butt off. He wanted to be mad at me for swearing but he couldn't.
I get your Father... Sometimes with my nièces I just Can not hold it🤣🤣🤣 you are angry but then they Say or do something while you're talking to them and you just can't hold the laughter!!!
This is great! So frigging great! I would spit out my drink and everything behind that.
Dad's are awesome
There was SO MUCH Pride for you in that moment from your dad
He had just been reassured that his kid was ready to take on the world 🤗🤗😏
I remember telling my 2 year old son to do something and he said "I'm doing it in my MIND." My husband and I just looked at each other trying not to crack up! 🤣🤣
That’s such a dad thing to do lol my mom on the other hand would’ve whooped my ass without hesitation
I love Sandra bullock. I am a black woman, and I love her so much, even before she had her kids. She is blessed to have those two kids and they are blessed to her as their mummy.🥰🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏👏
Yes! She's just so lighthearted. Every time I watch her interviews I end up laughing because she's always making jokes. And I love that she stands up for so much. I was very happy finding out that there's a celebrity out there who's big on not only believing in equality but also acting on it.
I agree with you good comment . I am a native and our children are not wanted, we have so many that are in the system it's just heartbreaking because rez kids really suffer from generational ignorance
@@livee9641 Osiyo, ghigau. 😢 My Gramma was Cherokee/Creek. I love every Native baby in this world. If I could afford it, I would try to adopt through the IN/CT. ☁️ 🦌 🦅💜
@@sunflower7045 I'm Cree,
The best we can do for our native children is to be mentors ..I would love to adopt myself
Just don't have the monetary needs to do so..
However! I have the heart and the knowledge of what being a good mentor is that I can honestly say thru my own trials and tribulations I was given a gift by coming out of the adversity
❤
I love the way the cultures merge. Racism is taught, plain and simple. I love every race/ culture! Way to go y’all!
Totally agree. Small children will play with any child regardless of color. My father was in the military and he was stationed all over. I always had all kinds of friends (black, white, mixed, Philippino, German, whatever). I find that the U.S. "civilians" are more closed/narrow minded. It's sad that color is still such an issue in this day and age, but that crap gets carried forward to the next generation in families. Nobody on this planet chose their skin, hair or eye color or if they wanted to be tall, short, fat or skinny. People need to stop being so damn ignorant.
@@Tygerlady99 amen! We are twins in our beliefs! I’m an Airforce brat and was born in Germany… When I was in school and so proud of my birthplace, someone gave me the notion I was a Nazi. I’m proud to say I didn’t listen and let it ruin my life. I pray that’s how everyone else deals with their lives. Our lives are gifts from our Father
Agreed..💯💯💯
take four children from every group and raise them on an island without any outside influence. There would be no race, complexion, hair, phenotype, etc., issues. The typical sibling issues alone, but the worldly crap of what is considered beauty in the moment wouldn’t exist.
😒😒🙄🙄🙄🙄
Yes! This is a song from South Pacific:
The character of Lieutenant Cable sings -
“You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!”
It’s so much easier to teach our children acceptance, tolerance and appreciation, for unimportant differences.
“She will break me.. but she will never see that she broke me” I felt that with my soul as a mother of three daughters lol
Me too and I only have one daughter.
My mom was a yeller and talked so loudly and so much that I would just zone out when she spoke to me, and I avoided sharing my feelings with her, because it would elicit a dramatic reaction. So when I had my own kids, I did the opposite. I don't raise my voice to them. When I really need to get their attention or correct them, I just sit next to them and speak almost in a whisper. It's surprisingly effective. Maybe my whisper is scarier than yelling, similar to the mom look. But I think when someone says fewer words and speaks with a really soft and calm voice it sensitizes kids in a good way. They listen more intently and give more weight to the words you say when you have a track record of choosing words carefully and remaining calm. It also gives them a safe space where they can open up and share their thoughts and feelings.
That's a good and nice...but are you doing that with toddlers pre teens or teens? Because when they try it they will TRY. And honestly the chancla can go pretty far.
This!!
Whispers will scare the shit out of you 😆
more than one way to skin cat. as long as they kids "get it".
This is actually a psychological parenting /teaching technique
"wait till you have a daughter... There she is."
If I couldn't love Sandra any more.
As a once-child (but let's face it, even as an adult) that second look gave me chills
You see your life flash before you when you get that look 😱😂
Yes!!!
Yep! That second look is, “now ya done fucked up! But don’t worry, when we get home, you’re done.”
@@tiah1927 Girl. Toast! 😂
That’s definitely a “Im gonna tear ya ass up when we get home!” look 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s a “Mom look” it transcends all races. Once I was in a taco time (like a more homemade Taco Bell in my town). This young guy pours ice over the machine and all over the floor. The Mexican woman behind the counter gives him this look and I lean in and ask “Is that your Mom?” He just nods his head sheepishly 🤣🙌🏽🥰
This is so true. 😂😂😂😂😂
Why would he even do that? Especially while knowing his mother is right there working behind the counter?
Lol but especially black and brown moms lol
It is a "Mom" look that transcends race. 😂
@@nicolelewis6312 could be so lol I just haven’t seen many white moms do the look but maybe it is just a mom look in general lol
“She’ll break me but she won’t know it”

I love 🥰 Sandra Bullock because she's so real. She's walking her own walk.
I don't think it's just a black mom thing. Most moms are like that. They give you the death stare, and 'nuff said (or not said) 😁😁
You're right, it's just a mom thing period! 🤔
Exactly.
That's what I was thinking.... Why does it have to be about race and not just about women and moms coming together to unite and uplift each other and stand up for each other and help each other and love each other..... The color of your skin doesn't mean a thing when it comes down to just being a mom.
Yes, it's a mom or dad look you get when you need a quiet correcting. They do it because they care. If they didn't care they wouldn't bother with you and just ignore you. Parenting isn't easy.
Yup. My mom still does the "aaaht aaht!" 🤣🤣🤣 when I'm doing something I know I ain't posed to be doing lol
People be asking how your children so well behaved? I say mastering the looks and don't let me get to three. A mother asked me what happens at three? I just gave her the look. She said oh... Enough said.
Lol idk what happens after 3, because we never got there 😂😂😂
I worked at a daycare once. One day this little girl just wasnt ready to go home when her mom came. You know how kids get stuck in their playing. Her mom put on her best stance and was like "Cassidy!!! 1...2..." Little Cassidy matched that stance and said "3, 4, 5."...LoL I thought I was going to die. It was hilaruous.
Hahaha! Don't make me go to three. Uh-uh, don't make me.
@@breezygodiva503 oh my goodness!! Cassidy is a sassy pants!

Sandra Bullock has always reminded me of my favorite aunt (mannerisms and demeanor). Nothing but love for her 🥰✌🏾❤
The way she adjusted and fixed that 1st look😄😄thats look mom gives to stop dead in your tracks.
You've got to add that mother's curse! "I hope that when you have children you have one that is just like you!" My mom did it to me and it definitely worked! My 2nd oldest daughter is exactly like me! And she drives me up the wall!!
I got the curse. Nice thing is we know how to handle our past selves. Just talking for myself though. Love your comment

Years ago I was in a John Denver concert and everyone in front of us wouldn't sit down. People were yelling "Sit! No one got back up. There's a Mom voice, too. Iike the crack of a whip.
Thanks, Mom.
That felt genuine not “I adopted black babies” I love Sandra!!! Dude don’t 🤣🤣🤣
Even at 34, my mom still gives me the look when I'm intentionally trying to rile her up 😂

I love that second look, it’s ‘okay you think your winning and I can’t say anything to you but wait til we get home’😂
Oh my. She did that look and I just backed away from my phone. 😳😳. 😆😆😆. She has been taught by the best. 😄
When I was a kid, I had a bad habit of trying to talk to someone while they were in a conversation and my mom would always give me the look. My reply would always be..."Shutting up now."
Oh no, please tell me she doesn't do that thing where they be like "come on inside I ain't gonna hit you....." my grandmother was notorious for that.
🤣😅🤣😅
Never heard that one...hilarious
I've heard that one....shiiiiitt. It's a set up 😂
My grandma used to send us out to get a switch. And if what you brought back wasn’t what she want she swatted you with it & sent you for another.
@@aliceseger7108 oh no them damn switches, and they be like "and don't you go getting the small one neither"
My grandma was blind and when she wanted to use a switch on us, she’d have to feel her way around the house to find us and we’d always end up hiding behind the couch. BUT she’d find that spot and reach her hand to back of that couch waving that switch. 🤣
My grandfather, though, had rubber bands and he’d threaten to shoot them at us. They hurt, bro… 😂 as a kid, that was our time to say ‘ok, I won’t do it again.’ 🤣 He also was great with homemade slingshots.
Ms Bullock is the stuff dreams are made of. She is intelligent, caring, terribly talented, quick witted and not to mention beautiful and I suspect that's the short list...🤔 I will always keep an eye out for her performances!!! Merry Christmas y'all and Happy New Year!!! 🎄🙏🦁
Wow! That takes me back! My dad used to give that “ look” in public and I knew right then, I would be better off getting arrested and stay in a police cell for the night than go home, and face that whuppin that was waiting for me 🤨
💯Sandra Bullock is a Legend! 🏆
And she still got it... 😏🔥🔥
Ok, her looks were spot on!! That half smile she gave saying "I'm going to get you if I have to get up" look!! 🤣🤣🤣
love Sandra!!!!!!
Meeeee tooooooo
There is nothing "black" about that look. That look is universal.
That look is universal to all moms. Once, I had my kids at work with me when my co-worker came in behind them and she stopped in alarm and said, "What did I do?" then burst out laughing and continued, "Oh, it's for them. You stopped me in my tracks with that Mom look and suddenly I felt like I was 10 years old!" The Mom Look is a secret superpower.
Yess it is. My parents did it too. Hahhaha
Every people and culture has their Way. It is undoubtedly true Black people have their own. That's okay. It's usually when Black people center themselves, everyone else finds it a challenge or discount to their own existence. It's only us celebrating us. May everyone do the same. Merry Christmas.
@@CleverCoolCharisma Sandra Bullock is you celebrating you? I'm not following. The Mom Look is universal. Assigning it race is just messy.
I love it!!!! Finally something real!!! Not afraid!!! Because she knows it’s her kids over whatever else ppl think. It just doesn’t matter she’s producing great member’s of tomorrow’s society!! Good for her
I gave my kids the I snatch souls look and they knew better 🤣
I never picked a fight with my kids that I couldn’t win. Now they are all grown and I pick very few, if any, fights. We have 5 kids and 11 grandchildren. There are disagreements but I’m pretty much reduced to an advisory position. I’m the complaint department at HR. Atleast the crew love each other fiercely. I should be getting a gold watch for this.
Man... This is an awesome comment. Job well done. Hopefully, you have a husband who praises your successes to the roof tips in front of your children. Yes, you should be giving yourself a pat on the back. Because fostering Harmony and Love is the best thing for a family and generations. Make sure you teach them everything you've done so it doesn't get lost in "dysfunctional family society". Be boastful👏
Sandra Bullock gotta “lil” Sistah in her💯💯 lol
Those looks reminded me how much of a great actress she is! They were both spot on 🙌🏾💯😂❤️

She served those looks. The first was I know you are not acting like I didn’t raise you to have some sense and the second was you wait until we get home.. I will not show my ass now but when we get home , it’s on. Or it’s the wait until I tell your dad look.
Sandra is so awesome bro. I hope she never changes
That’s when you know your kids respect you, when you can discipline them with just The Look. It’s not just a black mom thing.
She is and will forever be my favorite actress!!
Actor turned actress.
Sandra's mom and grandma were German from Germany. They are great moms and know how to take care of kids with proper boundaries. They have the looks, the Kochloffel, and they don't use it often if they are good moms like Sandra's mom or grandma. Kochloffel is the wooden spoon in the kitchen and it's comparable to the Mexican Chancla. Asian moms use the house slipper too aiming it like a ninja star. But all these good moms have lot's of love and teaching to raise great kids that are not misled by permissiveness. They know love without boundaries is not love at all.
I don't think that the Kochloffel is legal in Germany anymore, not for like 20 years.

I call it the mom look or the mom voice. I am over 50 and it still works on me.
She is the only white woman in Hollywood I didn't side eye when she adopted a black son..
She's never made the race of her kid a thing like so many who use black kids to show off their progressiveness or white saviour complex. I'll never forget how Angelina Jolie said her plan is to get a kid from every continent. 🙄
Do you do a good side eye?? . I agree I usually roll my eyes when I've heard similar. Wondering what they are trying to prove.

my father was the KING. only once he asked my brother and I at the dinner table, while out at a restaurant... " you want the belt right here in this restaurant?" That was something my brother and I remembered every time we were out with our parents in public. Just a look from Dad, which we knew meant "enough". He never had to ask that question again. Some people would cry bloody murder over that kinda parenting.
Oldest sister had little rats for kids (thee'y adults now and fine, but they were out of control when they were young. no one in the family enjoyed being at a family gathering when "the Smith kids" were coming. Once at my Dad's house, he started yelling at the grandkids to settle down, sister got all huffy, "don't discipline my kids!". "well if you ain't gonna, I will. and he just kept on them." That shut her up real quick. It was GLORIOUS.

I love Sandra bullock since Practical Magic and counting 💚🌹💯
That's not a "black mom look" it's an every tired mum look.
Sandra bullock still looks amazing!!
The title of this video had me ready to jump all over poor Sandra. It seemed to imply that she claims to have a "Black mom look" that she uses to address her children's behavior... an obviously slippery slope. Then you realize it's the Black woman hosting who prompts that categorization. I really dig how Sandra navigated responding without attempting to create an illusionary alignment with the plaused Blackness and instead told her true story of motherhood based on real experience. She remained herself and didn't perform "Blackness" in an indirect (and often unconscious yet not always) attempt to appease Black people... (a subconscious "safety" mechanism which should be highly questioned).
I love reading and understanding comments well written like this. Makes me feel smart. 😊
But… glaring oversight here, Sandra Bullock was literally married to a Neo Nazi for 5 years. You telling me she didn’t know?
Admitting you parent with fear rather than emotional intelligence...bravo Sandra.
I WAS LIKE NUMBER 58! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SANDRA BULLOCK. JULIA ROBERTS IS MY FAVORITE ACTRESS BUT WHEN I FIRST SAW SANDRA ON SCREEN....UMMMM.....I DUNNIO. CUTTING IT CLOSE. LOL.
I always had soooooo much trouble keeping that p.o.'d look on my face when my daughter gave me the exact same "I hate you, you old witch." look I gave my mother as a child. She got sent to her room so I could laugh unobserved by her. My Mom would get behind her and grin like the Cheshire Cat about it.
I love Ms. Bullock. She is just a wonderful person.
I have that look and my kids will always tell their friends don't make my mom mad....so I think between the look as I am saying "I don't think you wanna go down that path " ! Worked very well....they are grown men now and still talk about the stare down and words well they share childhood memories.... so I would have to say it was very effective 😁
Sandra didn’t say that, the interviewer asked her.

Sandra saying how Laila reminds of her of herself as a child is so sweet because kids no matter how you have them, will be the very embodiment of your childhood self. I just adore Sandra and I try not to be too crazy with celebrity worship (and I don’t worship her) but she’s truly one of a kind and a total breathe of fresh air. She’s humble as heck, real, honest and upfront, funny and sweet and so kind and her smile and laugh are my favorites. She’s very blessed and her kids are blessed to have her as their mom
