My Father showed me this song in the 7th grade. This song was a favorite of his. It was also one of the first records I had ever heard from him.
I lost him a week before Christmas this past year, and I still am in disbelief. This is the man that held me on his lap as a little girl, while he strummed on his Fender acoustic guitar. He taught me so much about God, music and life. Rest In Peace, precious and beloved soul. I love you Dad.

It means a lot that you replied to my comment. I put this song on a playlist that I have been making on here in memory of my Dad. Music is medicine to me .... sometimes the only thing that will help me get through this right now. Maybe you could do the same thing for your Uncle. He sounds like an extra special person. Something tells me you are a precious soul as well, Nikola. Keep feeding your soul with music. I am going to be praying for you. I bet my Dad and your Uncle/Dad are jamming out in Heaven...a much better place than here on this earth! God bless you now and always!

@@martinherrera4907 I always got it messed up for Scorpions Wind of Change (because of the “Wind” in the title) and I even have read some in comments say how one band or the Scorpions hit is better, or this is better than that, but I’ve come to my own conclusion in that they’re both uniquely their own and are amazing all on their own. Personally I think Scorpions are the better band over Kansas, but both had their own original sound and their reasons for the songs were different. It would’ve been cool to see them trade covers of each other’s songs.

I remember seeing this group back in the late 70's. They were on of my favorite groups. I'm now 73 and having server nerve pain for the past 5 years to a cut nerve from a collapsed spinal column, this song now makes me think more about being positive rather than the dark areas that I have been experiencing. Life is too short, because like they say, All We are Is Dust in the Wind of Life.

To be heard first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
It gives us a real perspective of what we really are in this world more so now than ever as we see so much of our dreams slipping away year after year.
We are prompt to live within the moment giving it our best shot, one that will be remembered if not by ourselves but by others.

Hmmm... thanks, I may have to check that out, James...
In answer to why they don’t write music 🎶 like this anymore, I was alive and crossed over into adult during this era...
What happened as a nation was we had just come out of a long and fruitless war (Vietnam), now the fear of being drafted was gone for men, the fear of losing someone you loved or thought you could love for the rest of your life was gone... the late 1970s became a time to look back on what we had wasted time, lives, and money on... Sad contemplation was common. Wondering what we had done, what we had wasted time on, what was the purpose and why no accomplishment... why it had happened... all of it was much on people’s mind...
The bills started coming in for wasted years, wasted money, wasted lives... and all for what? What had it been about?, people were asking... There was a sense of sadness, sometimes of stupid but mostly of sadness, our leaders, our politicians were stupid... they never understood the Vietnamsee 🇻🇳 or the system of oppression they had undergone as French Indochina...
Now don’t even try to judge the French, they bought into the lies and believe in the good judgement of leaders as stupid as our own... Dreams of empire faded and no one remembers them and what they were... except maybe morons who think those times were easy and full of affluence and wealth...
Empires come at the cost of small people who build them... They make demands on those higher...
Empire without vision, without understanding is stupid...
The next era was about greed. It was about theft. And this era is greatly about lies and games by assholes with greedy minds, often dead hearts, and shitty preoccupations...

My new subscriber, I am 54 years old now from Latin background. My babysitter's used to be hippies back in the '70s love them to death learn so much from them. They expose me to all of their songs that used to listen to this was one of them, also the tin Man, the horse with no name from America ☮️ any song that they listen to I loved. For some reason this one is the only one that makes me cry, because it's so real it's facts! This is what all humans are where are dust in the wind, once we die we rot and we're turned into dust. Like the song says at the end, not even money will buy you a minute on this Earth I love this song so much ❣️. Adore the acoustics in this song the mixture of the guitar and those beautiful violins wow I'm in love. My son is a violinist he started playing the violin since he was 10 and every time he plays it reminds me of my childhood. Yes happy memories but it's sadness as well, because it's saying the truth about who we are on this planet!! "DUST IN THE WIND". Thank you for sharing this beautiful song with the lyrics God bless you and please stay safe 🙏🏽🙌🏾🤗😢😢

My dear friend-and soul mate- died some time ago. He had Muscular Dystrophy. He was a rocker and although he was told he would not live past 18 he lived until he was 49. He filled his life with music and kindness and generosity. He so wanted to continue on past 50 but he got a secondary cancer diagnosis and passed six months later. He asked to be cremated and put on a small lake. When that was done he said celebrate me. So this song was among many to do that. I miss you every bud. See you soon.

Kerry Livgren wrote this for a finger exercise to finger pick. His wife would hear him playing this and she told him he should do something with it. Kerry told his wife NO this is just a finger exercise, but when he played it for the band they loved it.

If I’m being totally honest, this song reminds me of when I was little. I’m still a kid but when I was younger. A had a group of friends at my bowling alley and we got along great. That was 6 or 7 years ago and a bunch of people stopped going there and we fell out of touch and the few people that still go are older and we don’t talk now. I’m hoping the group can reunite so please share this with someone. Thanks!

I can relate, same type of scenario has played out numerous times in my life with many groups of friends and I'm still young, only 35.
My advice: Get used to it, it's all you can do.

It happens to the most of us. One day you will go outside with your friends like usual, playing games or football, and you won't even realize it could be the last time. Its sad but makes part of life. I usually say I dont regret anything because it is all memories, even tho it hurts like a b**** sometimes. The good things we keep as memories, the bad ones as lessons.

Heard this on the radio… always loved this song… can feel it in my soul as though I’m dancing thru a midnight breeze under the bright stars and moonlight and just the thought of that in this moment I find my peace… funny how that is… sensei 1st. The rest will just fall in line in complete peace..
That is what I see as this vision of me dancing like a young girl dress flowing with the soft ocean breeze
And next you know… all of a sudden I feel home. Almost like a completeness I can’t describe the beautiful scenery my mind sees in picture as tho it’s me… I like it there… it’s beautiful
Inspiring and inspirational. Like the soul inside me has finally come alive from the ashes like the Phoenix… all is well… I am complete…

    Lyrics
    I close my eyes
Only for a moment, and the moment's gone
    All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
    Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
    Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
    All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
    Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
    Now don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
    It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
    Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
(All we are is dust in the wind)
    Dust in the wind
(Everything is dust in the wind)
Everything is dust in the wind
    (In the wind)
