I’ve had the same symptoms for most of my life and I’m 59. It took so long to find a doctor who would listen. I had normal blood test results but still felt terrible. I had similar reactions from doctors. They’d tell me I was depressed, there was nothing wrong with me, that I just needed to get off my butt and go to work, etc. I’d leave their offices crying. It took years for me to finally get a diagnosis, which was from an Endocrinologist. I feel a little better. No one ever talked to me about diet or anything. I’ve learned so much from you and your husband Dr. Berry. Thank you so much. God bless.

@@tammykimball1018 Keto is a method for essentially producing ketone bodies for fuel (ketones are a type of acetone). To begin producing them, it is essential to reduce carbs to a point where insulin drops low enough to allow the body to begin to "burn" fat stores. If insulin is high, it is not possible to use fat unless you put the body under lots of stress in the (eat less, which will lower insulin; do more, which will put the body under stress from cortisol).
Quite involved, but it takes a while to learn all the terms ... sorry. Good luck.

You may be low in iodine as this can lead to thyroid dysfunction. Kelp is a good source of iodine and make sure to take selenium and zinc for hormone conversion and remove gluten first and that is the first step to getting well. Make sure you don't have candida and a leaky gut goes with this, try the candida spit test.

I was told to start with one drop in a tiny bit of water (swish in the mouth for a bit so it can be absorbed through the mouth). Told to take one drop, three times a day for a week, then two drops in water three times a day for a week, and then three drops in water three times a day, thereafter. The stresses you experienced are88 not unrelated to hypothyroidism. Stress can be the trigger that shuts down the thyroid...after which it tends to become a vicious circle. Once thyroid is down its hard to get it back up. Starvation, pregnancy, moving, job loss or other major threats to security, etc are all telling your body that there is a state of emergency in the world, its not safe, and therefore better to shut down metabolism to conserve energy. All the symptoms of hypothyroid are symptoms of low metabolism. Its natures way of protecting the baby-makers from stress: hoard energy. Men have a much, much higher stress threshold and tend to react to stress differently...the fight response more than flight/shut down response. Which is why men hardly ever get hypothyroid or Hashis.

However, I lost about 15lbs when I first went Keto and couldn't lose anymore until I added butter (fat) to my cauliflower that I was eating daily and the weight started dropping off. So I added Salmon and now I am having to slow the weight loss down. It has been an interesting journey. My hair like yours is growing back. Sleep is a fundamental part of wellness in life. I tried to "hustle" and put sleep to the side and it lead to *obviously* constant tiredness, lack of concentration, and because I was tired all the time didn't want to do anything. Once I realize that cycle and focused on getting a good 8 hours per night consistently (warm showers, cold room, ear plugs, eye mask, early to bed, ketogenic diet, weight lifting) my life turned around. It took me about three years to figure all these parts out and implement them in my life, but today at 50 I am in the best shape of my life physically and mentally. I have all those symptoms though I was never diagnosed. Dr. just checked my TSH, which was normal, but still I was complaining of all those symptoms. She refered me to endocrinologist who was convinced that there was nothing wrong with me beside my super high prolactin level and did not want to do any further check up. I just realised that no one can care for me as much as I do, and decided to help myself by starting IF for that Autophagy. I started feeling little better, my joint pains were going away slowly and learned about how keto can help, and Im on keto now for about a month. At the same time, I worked super hard to bring my sleep habit back to healthy state as well. Already I feel some progress. At this point I dont k ow if it is just my feeling, but I feel a bit better. Less mood swing, brain fog seems to clear up quite a bit. Your video encourages me to continue. thanks.

Which is good because my insurance does not cover hormones at all.

Thank you! Had those same symptoms with Hashimotos in 2012, stress is what seemed to push it over the edge. Its taken years even after a diagnosis to feel better after working with an integrative medicine doctor and getting off the paleo and going carnivore, alcohol free. I'm still tweaking the diet and lifestyle constantly and giving myself grace to rest and have good boundaries for stress ful situations and people. Watching your interview with Kelly Hogan is what prompted me to go carnivore almost 3 moths ago. Thank you for sharing your journey!

Hey Neisha! I just want you to know that you and Dr. Berry changed my life! Sounds dramatic but oh so true. I am also a RN and I have been suffering from a lot of these same symptoms. One of which was weight gain and because if that I was researching diets and came across Dr. Berrys channel. One of the videos was you and him doing a cooking video and in it you mentioned your Hashimoto journey and as I listened I thought wth? This sounds so familiar. I had asked my primary (now former primary) to check my thyroid and he laughed me off claiming all woman who hit 40 and gain weight think it’s their thyroid. He basically said if you lower your calorie intake and get off your ass you’ll be fine. I found a great nurse practitioner who actually listened to me and proved my suspicion right. I started armor thyroid and I’m starting keto/carnivore tomorrow. Wish me luck. I What you are doing matters. Thank you so much!

11 yrs ago I had a thyroidectomy, all of your symptoms, the docs just couldnt figure it out..getting out of bed was the highlight of my day..and the only thing I could do. after a ton of tests, heavy metal screens, they did a scan of thyroid and told me I had a 10cm tumor ...now 3 docs confirmed this..they said it needed to come out. so I did..I requested surgical report( I am an RN) and to my surprise there was NO mention of a 10 cm tumor. I tried to talk to surgewon but as soon as I started to question he walked out of room and I could not get to him again..my primary doc had no words when I asked if there was not a tumor present why on earth did they take my thyroid out. He dropped me as a patient, and refused to answer any more questions. I was thin prior to this and very active, was RN a Realtor, and worked out in gym 5 days week and had horses. I gained 70 lbs which I still have 20 more to lose after being on keto for a year. It has been a nightmare for us(my hubby has been a huge support) They told me I was depressed and still are trying to get me on anti depressants..which is BS. I am on synthroid(used to be nature thyroid but unable to get that or armored thyroid either). Thanks for shedding some light on subject..I would really like Dr Berry to address those of us who have no thyroids and weight loss. Thanks

Hello sweet Neisha. Thank you. I have almost all the symptoms you are talking about. I have Hashimoto since 2012, taking synthroid. Gained since 2012 50 lbs! I'm 55. Last May 2021 my labs came back with a completely different result than I use to get. Normally always in the middle range and last year, on 2 different test, 3 months appart werre way under the middle range. I told my doctor I wasn't feeling myself and had lots of symptoms and she wouldn't listen, she said 'Labs are in the normal range' thats it. I insisted she refers me to an endocrinologist which she did but entered it in the government system (I'm in Québec, Canada) with the lowest urgency code. We're in May 2022 and I haven't had a call yet for an appointement. This being said, I took the bulls by the horn and called an endocrinologist Clinic in Montréal, approx 45 minutes from where I live and was able to get an appointement for May 31st :) I am so happy and hoping the endocrinologist will do all the appropriate testing. I am thinking of trying Carnivore. For how long do you think I should do it for until I see if its doing any good to me? Thank you so much again.

Thanks for the list Neisha I have been carnivore for over a year now and past menopause with no symptoms. Dr. Berry's videos have been so helpful keeping me on track. I have had all of these symptoms and they come back if I go off track. The brain fog and the pmdd is what started me down the rabbit hole of medications years ago. If I only knew back when I was younger that it was my diet. I lost 50 pounds on keto a couple of years ago and graduated to carnivore. I still have more weight to lose and more healing to do but the one meal a day with enough fat and meat, sea food etc. works for me very well. I love eating carnivore and think I was meant to eat this way. Also, I think this disorder runs in my family. My mom was diagnosed at the age of 7 with hashimotos. Struggled with severe symptoms that led to schizophrenia and then her death. A long and painful life. I'm sitting here in tears because of your story. So happy you are doing so well and now you have Beckett what a beautiful baby he is. I'm trying to help my family understand how much diet relates to diseases and the responsibility of eating well belongs to them. I consider some foods that aren't carnivore/keto as falling off of the wagon foods. I'm not a moderator so I prefer to not have them in the house. Love and hugs to you and your family.

Omg Neisha... thank you for sharing this video & being so descriptive & open about what was going on with you! As I sit here in end of July, wrapped in an afghan because I'm always cold 😬& praying that my blood results will be back in today or tomorrow - because I have found a new hormone dr who told me during the consultation, that she doesn't think all of my symptoms (which I described exactly like you did!) are not just due to being post menopausal, but could be due to my thyroid or something else. I've been pm for 5 yrs & never felt like this...I even had a libido...now that's plummeted in the last year! Thankfully, she sent in orders for complete blood panel & thorough thyroid testing... she's my new dr, because i was having same experience as you were, with drs shoving depression meds at me (I didn't take them, because i knew that wasn't it. My poor husband of 30 yrs has been put through the wringer too... it's been rough! Im so praying that this new dr can help me...is there anything I can ask her for or what parts of my bloodwork results should I bring her attention to, that could signify hashimotos? Seriously, it's not my imagination...LITERALLY everything you mentioned is in my journal of what I'm experiencing! Anyways, any extra advice would be so appreciated! If I can't get a solution with her... does DrBerry do telemed appts? I live in Colorado. I just started keto last month & have fiddled with it off& on for past 6 mos.but then i get itchy or still feel like crap & give up, listening to my other dr. I'm still struggling, but it has only been a month. I take no meds & just feel like I'm suffering through all these horrible symptoms & at a loss. I miss my life & who I was!😪 Thank goodness for you, your husband & others like you... this is how I found all of you... anyway... thank you SO much for being who you are & sharing of yourself & your story!

Thank you! I began with Covid and Viral Pneumonia, long haulers melded into EVERY SYMPTOM mentioned. After a CT Scan many nodes were found on my thyroid. I have a sore throat and get hoarse if I talk too much. Exhausted continually, but still have to go to Drs appts. The Specialist ENT mocked me, “oh, so you think all these things are caused by your thyroid? ” with a smirk! My Thyroid Ultrasound is in a few days. He said he was ONLY going to order a simple TSH test!! If it is discovered that the growths on my thyroid require treatment (pretty sure they will) he will not be the treating Dr for sure! You were very fortunate to have a Dr discover Hashimoto’s and treat it.

I was diagnosed with Hoshimotos in 2015. My TSH levels have always been “normal” so I am not on any medication for it. For years I have had EVERY single symptom that you talked about and every time I tell my doctors they just order labs and say everything is normal. It’s so frustrating and exhausting. Now after watching this video I am definitely going to do keto. Thank you so much for your honesty and I will be watching more of your videos! Oh and I’m a fellow Tennesseean ❤️😁

Whats normal? You can have a tsh of 3 and have hypo symptoms. Gluten free, dairy free and soy free diet, helps greatly. I used to always eat edamame! Soy is in everything!

@@browneyedsunshine77 that's high maybe an endocrinologist can prescribe yoy a small dose of Levothyroxine? I think your not considered "clinically" hypothyroidism until atleast 4.5. Try speaking to your endocrinologist. Unfortunately sometimes they wont prescribe meds until tsh is at a certain point. Diet has helped a lot...im strict 80% of the time. I hope everything works out for you.

I have not been diagnosed yet (was waiting to be referred to endocrinologist but then COVID hit) but I’d say I have 90% of your symptoms… think I’m going to chase up that referral now! (I’ve also just started carnivore this past week so hopefully that’ll help in the meantime?)

Huge fan of your husband's, that's how I found you. Hearing you talk of your diagnosis is almost to a T identical to mine. I have t1d, hashi, celiac, PCOS and gastroparesis ... Going carnivore has helped so much. 7 weeks in and I have life again. Low carb following Dr. Bernstein 5 years, then keto for 10+ months but I still suffered all you spoke of. Then 1 week in on carnivore and wow, a new life. It's been 25 years since I've felt 98% pain free. Amazing. Thank you to your husband as I have learned so much and now you. 💙

Had all of the symptoms you described but in my mid 40s when I started to feel so cold during the summer that’s when I knew something was wrong. Thyroid tests were normal but thank God my doctor still diagnosed me with a sub clinical hypothyroidism and treated me with neural therapy which helped me so much. A couple years after that I discovered keto and most of the symptoms disappeared. I just turned 50 this year and dealing with other issues but feel confident that ketovore will help. Thank you for sharing your story and being so open about it. The advice you and your hubby give has helped me so much and I love your Monday lives 🤗 keep up the awesome work!

I have RA and in the process now of being Dx with Hashimoto’s. Insomnia is the absolute worst, no libido at all, fatigue, headaches almost daily, PVCs, sensitive to cold and hot, I initially dropped 10 lbs in 2 wks without trying, i bruise easier than a peach does, mood swings from minute to minute, anxious, and I’m sure there are a few more I didn’t list. I was Dx with PTSD and anxiety recently, (I am a paramedic for a busy 911 service). The last few years I’ve tried to tuck and roll as much as possible. It’s been almost 10 yrs since i was Dx with RA, I have had 3 surgeries since, I live in the Florida panhandle where a CAT 5 hurricane went through 2 yrs ago and worked on the ambulance everyday for a month with no days off. 2 months later my husband shattered his humerus at work and had to have surgery to repair it, a yr later he needed another surgery on it because it was non-union so he had a bone graft done, just 2 wks after that we were in solid COVID mode at work and continue to be. So one would expect some PTSD and anxiety. I am lucky that I knew something was wrong all my symptoms started about 2-3 months ago Zoloft and a journal has helped with the insomnia and some mood swings. I just doing my research now for possible Hashi’s . Oh, yeah they found a multi nodular goiters as well.

I finally found a wonderful dr that did the proper extensive bloodwork & my #s showed obvious hashimotos...so now I'm on a path finally to healing.
