I really enjoyed your reaction and breakdown. Please check out Elon, Tears of Gold or Bad Dreams. These are some of her best performances and they are on her live concert.
Same. These are our stripped back versions. Her debut LP CITIZENS has some great stuff in the pop realm (Puppet and RIP Love especially are great). Also check out her cover of I'm Blue (yes, the Eiffel 65 song..)
Yes, you started on the Faouzia rabbit hole! 🤩 I totally fell in love with her amazing voice when I listened to "Tears Of Gold (stripped)": there's so much emotion in that performance.
I believe she exhibits a higher range on "Elon" which is found at the end of the live concert at the Burton Cummings Theatre. Her vibrato is pretty impressive as well.
not my usual go to style of music, but i can def say she has an amazing voice and def talented. great video as always, good descriptions on what can affect voice in younger singers. and also always.... love for the bloopers and leaving it on a cliffhanger "umm" lol
I simply love her song "This Mountain" very poweful voice in there. Even if it doesn't make it into a video, I recommend that you listen to it in private then :) Best wishes from Germany
Love your reactions, as do all who return here, J. But it's the bloopers that kill me. LOL You're like the early Pixar movies of reactors, with your bloopers! Hahahaha
Faouzia is a very talented artist and you always provide a wonderful reaction/analysis Julia. I humbly request you do your 2nd reaction to Angelina Jordan who is 16 now. You reviewed her remarkable performance of "I Put a Spell On You" when she was 9. Angelina is easily the most accomplished child vocalist of all time, covering more than 90 artists, spanning at least 9 genres. Given your field of expertise Julia, it boggles my mind why you haven't reviewed more of her performances.
Yay, I was waiting for this. Thanks for giving her some love! Welcome to Faouzia's discography. Please check out Faouzia's "You don't even know me" from her Stripped Live Concert. The arrangement is a bit different and a bit more intense than this. I think you would love her Tears of Gold also from the Stripped Live Concert!
Thank you so much Julia for reacting to one of my faves and great young singer- songwriters of today ! Faouzia is a classically trained pianist and violinist ! Her vocal talent I'm sure comes out of this discipline training because she has no formal vocal training at all ! She is currently attending university for an engineering degree while also developing her budding music career ! Her Moroccan influence is evident in her singing and adds to her unique style ! Her songwriting is top shelf and her lyrics are so relatable to her audience ! She is signed to Atlantic Records and has collaborated with Kelly Clarkson and John Legend recently ! I would suggest any of her striped versions to react to as they are more organic and powerful ! Her videos are well produced and are really fabulous to watch ! I want to thank you for the most in depth analysis I have ever heard on Faouzia ! Your breakdown was so interesting to listen to ! You are so intelligent and I'm impressed with your vocal expertise ! I know you enjoyed listening to Faouzia because there was much to talk about ! Thank you because it was so much appreciated ! I hope to hear more reactions to Faouzia from you in the near future ! Sending you much thanks and love from Canada ! 🤗👍🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️
Yay. Thanks. I adore her unique voice and vibrato. Next one from Faouzia? Maybe “Elon” (Live from Mid 2020 🧜🏽♀️) or “Born Without a Heart (stripped)” (Video from early 2019 🖤) Or to hear how she’s using her voice now, “Hero” (Live, One Take) Eye Sessions. This is the stripped version of a full-on pop production for the official release.
@@anascoburn For a reaction, it’s not as interesting because we can’t see her singing. I think she said there are no immediate plans for a music video, but an Eye Session would be nice. Or something like a WISH 107.5 or Q on CBC video. 🤞🏽
Yey, so happy you found Faouzia! She's an amazing vocalist. I love the stripped ones more than the studio versions - you should really check out 'Tears of Gold' and 'Elon'. 🖤
Hi Julia! I think this is my first time listening to you doing a reaction and I really enjoyed it. I'm so glad you reacted to Faouzia, who has become my favorite artist. I think you will see that this is just the tip of the iceberg even though she's so young - she has a lot of content available so I'd like to share some info with you to address some of your questions, hoping you'll do more Faouzia reactions! So first, regarding age, she does seem to have matured vocally rather early. I think you'd find it very interesting to hear her sing a cover of Adele's "Hello" when she was just 15 (she actually does a lot of covers along with her original work). You can find it easily on UA-cam. Next you should listen to "Bad Dreams (Stripped)", which she released when she was barely 18. I think you'll hear a much more mature voice compared to what was already impressive at 15. From there I'd go on to listen to some of her other "Stripped" version hits: "How It All Works Out", "Tears of Gold", and "Born Without a Heart". By the way she won an international song-writing contest when she was just 16 (I think it was 16), so she has a lot of different talents (also plays piano, violin, guitar and I think she just graduated college with an engineering degree...or is close to doing so). As far as live performances, I think she sounds amazing live. There are three very notable performances in chronological order: Abu Dhabi, Stripped: Live in Concert, and Arab Heritage. I think the first two are a little darker-toned and for some reason the Arab Heritage concert showed what I think is a brighter tone in her voice and I actually liked it the best. You would have to listen to the Stripped concert to hear one of her best songs, "Elon", which plays after the credits and isn't available anywhere else. Finally, some more recent stuff: she did a duet with John Legend called "Minefields". The video is great but I prefer the "Live on the Today Show" version. She also sings it live solo in the Arab Heritage concert which is equally impressive, even without John Legend's smooth vocals. In the last year she's done some very "pop" songs with "Hero", "Puppet", and most recently, "RIP, Love". She has truly shown the ability to span not only many octaves with her vocal range but also many genres. I really hope you'll go down the rabbit hole with her so we can enjoy it with you and hear your expert critiques! -Jeff

Speaking a bit of post production, an interesting case where certain things were left without "polishing" at the post production level, is in the song Monsters by Jams Blunt (the recording of the official video), in fact according to what I understand, James was asked to correct, or re-record some things, and he insisted on leaving them that way. I don't want to spoil too much since by the way I think it would be a great song for you to make a reaction (although I must warn you, it's a song to make grown men cry like little girls). I'm curious HOW that vibrato is produced 🤔. I'm also confused at how she applies it in those slides where she hammers those individual notes as though she's USING the vibrato that way. Do you have something explaining this?
She’s also self taught and going to school as an engineer. It’s hilarious that singing was just a personal hobby for her.
