- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- Well, it’s coming up to Halloween so what better way to get your bass horror on than to try a little bit of Cannibal Corpse.
I’ve already covered a little of Hammer Smashed Face in a previous lesson and in the comments I got a bunch of requests for another beautiful love song in the shape of Frantic Disembowelment.
So today I’m going to take you through the first few riffs and give you some tips on getting them up to speed.

Haha, love the contrast of his chirpy disposition while discussing a song called Frantic Disembowelment
I can't believe my dude had such a cheery intro to just go on and murder frantic disembowelment with 2 fucking fingers.
A lot of that is down to the fact I used to play this kind of stuff as a teenager and I’m now nearly 50. It’s a bit of fun.
Frantic Disembowelment?! Thats proper brutal! Ill be downing red wine and a coffee for this
😅 I used to do that... Adding Paul Mason to each
Hell yea!
Lots of coffee!
@@f_USAF-Lt.G I added turds
Great explanation of the theory behind the song. I feel like some people dismiss chromatic and non-scale type songs as noise but it is really about the power of the m2 and d5.
It gives CC that eery/spooky sound!
This is such a badass tutorial and very humbling of you Mark to do a death metal song. You’re one of the only instructors I’ve seen do this and it’s really fckin cool! Thank you for this! 🤘🏽
Quick tip for Alex Webster’s Three fingers technique (not triplets but like 16th or 32nd notes)
P: Thumb
I: Index
M: Middle
A: Ring
Basically it’s a loop made of 3 patterns
M A I M
(Middle, ring, index, middle)
A I M A
(Ring, Index, Middle, Ring)
I M A I
(Index, Middle, Ring, Index)
Repeat
I do almost the same thing but the other way around(ring, middle, index, ring)
@@salottin pretty sure this is also what Alex does.
i just count 12321232123
You're the greatest, Mark. Never stop being who you are. I love this!
Alex is my hero, great lesson i love me some Cannibal corpse, my another hero is Mark from the white void

I love how Mark gets a lot of LIKES before it even starts. (I’m one of them!)
I'm not cannibal corpse but I am into metal and its nice to see quality videos on the genre. Thanks you legend
So happy you decided to do a video on this song. One of my favourites from Cannibal Corpse!
I'm getting my bass back tomorrow after a few months without it, i'm totally going back to this song, used to practice this almost everyday, awesome workout even if you don't hit all the notes on the fret, but you match the rythm strokes, totally worth
Hands down the best instructional bass channel on UA-cam. Keep it up Mark!
Great tone!
Thanks a lot, Mark. I watch this 3 or 4 times and find only now constructional scheme that you show, it's very interesting that you do.
That stingray special is just friggin gorgeous
amazing to to find this one, and great tutorial!! thanks a lot!!
Mark you are truly a Bass Slayer! Did u figure this out by ear??? This is unreal.
Middle section please...would be great!
Great choice ! Fast, tricky and evol. Thanks a lot ! ☺️🤘🤘
Thanks so much it brings me back to highscool, as soon as possible I'll work this out!!! Nice job as usual
Nice bass class.... awesome 💯
Fantastic, thank you.
Respect man, this song is BRUTAL!
Rofl Mark, wasn't expecting that :P
Awesome lesson thanks Mark!
Fantastic lesson. Thanks !
bro thats the nicest finish ive seen on a mm (or any bass) ever. anybody knows the name of of the paintjob? (or serial of the bass)
I'll take "Things I Didn't Expect to See Today" for $1000, Alex.
He made it look so easy
Great lesson. I'm pretty sure Alex follows the rhythm of the guitar and plays a gallop on the E string during the riff at 6:04, making it 3-3-4 instead of 3--4.
This is what i was looking for so long
Also maybe you can do a 4 string tutorial?
While im much more of a guitar player than ill ever be a bass player, the bass doesnt look too difficult compared to the guitar parts of this one. It does follow along with the guitars but the guitar riffs are far more complicated to play if you watch the studio video they did. I really need to get a bass someday, feel like it would help improve my flexibility on guitar if i learned bass without a pick.
I wonder if it would be fine to play a single quarter note instead of the triplet hammer on. I know it wouldn't be the original bass part, but I think nobody would hear a difference. Need to try it tho
Great Video! Im close to nailing Tommy The Cat because of you THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Thats a sweet bass.
(I have a badass Spector,I just like that MM)
Great, i got everything what you've show)
That 2nd and 5th fret hammer on and pull off is brutal. You pretty much can’t play this song if your hands are too small.
I do RMIRMI etc. But sometimes I do RMIM and then a pit of a pause. But I also do RMIMI and then a bit of a pause. I don't use the pinky unless I am over the fretboard doing a bit of a flurry. In that case I do Index, Middle, Ring, and Pinky. Anyway that bass just growls! Imagine some distortion.
Beautiful bass by the way 😉
Halloween Mark 4 the win xD
Dude you can play everything 🍺
WOW! What a monster tone! Not my cup of tea, but as always, a great lesson, Mark!
This is amazing. 😆
😂 Just in time for people to add that lil-somethin for the haunted house setups!!
this bass is amazing!! Where can i find these exercises? Is it a book from TalkingBass? Ty
I think this is so left of centre it's awesome 2👏👏
i know this is late but how do you get such a close tone to alex? also is this G# tuning
Great vid, as always, though my old ears would have liked to hear it with a cleaner sound -- which would make it easier to hear the notes. Then, the "grind" can be added later.
This song hits so close to home (I have short gut syndrome) 😅
Love it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
how did i miss this 😯😯😯😯😯
Wow! this is so cool. But why not full song?
😂😂😂 this is excellent. Stingray is way to Growl!!
0:52 Why isn't it called Bassbook?
Good
This should be easy...
Mint that
Do you think you will be doing another Christmas, song lesson this year?
New bass
I am going to go out on the line here Mark, but I bet your wife really loves it when you Romantically Disembowl her 😵🤯🙊💙💚💙🥰💥🙈😨😱💚🎃 have a wonderful All Hallows Eve 🎃🎃🎃
Haha great
Oh man I’m not that good enough to learn this riff. I’ll just stick with slower riffs and lines. Lol
Never thought I would see a more traditionel bassist do CC. This song is realy hard to play. Ever thought of butchering some Dm to like funk or something else? I wouldnt mind at all, even do I am metalhead from top to toe..
I was in a bunch of speed metals bands in the early 90s. I came from that background if you’d have seen my hair and appearance from 1990 through 1998 it’d all make sense.
Ps. The key to making all this kind of stuff seem easy is the extra study outside of ‘metal’. Study jazz, Latin and classical music for many hours per day and you’ll very quickly move beyond any metal playing from a technical standpoint. It’s a very different world.
@@talkingbasslessons I would very much like to see and here something from that time :) I agree with you Just look at Cliff Burton and his knowledge about classical music. I dontthink Metallica would have gotten that far without Cliff. My goal this year is to learn Vivaldis Summer and Deantown by Vulfpeck. Great content by the way. Hav ea nice weekend :)
I want to put 100,000 likes
How to play frantic disembowelment:
Step one: quit bass
Step two: leave it to Alex
Could one tune a 4 string B E A D to play this?
Yeah, but you are going to need have some heavy gauge strings to minimize the Korn/fieldy clickety clack, it will probably still sound like mud. Worth a try though!
@@dangeerraaron, Also you might need to adjust the nut to fit the thicker strings.
@@t-zex4650agreed! no doubt about that as well! 😎
Yes, that's a great idea, try things! If it's clanky or muddy you can put foam mute pads in at the bridge to tighten it up👌
Wow, well done Mark
❤️🇰🇭
Not as messy as jamerson
Unpopular opinion: lower tempo bass line sounds better.
Watched the lesson and went to listen to the original. Expected to apply the acquired knowledge. Can't even hear the bass part :( Noob Josh 4ever
Barely heard the bass
Let me guess...you're listening on a phone! Try with normal speakers/headphones and it's actually bordering on too much bass
