Beautiful horse. Ugly ways of training. Really? Tieing a horses legs up to get a desired gait. Its stupid. Go natural leave the shoes off. Stop this stupid off looking unnaturally gaiting! What happenes to all natural?
M. M.I. they are far from strength training. All I seee is a horse unable to move properly. And is given a improper gait. You should not need to tie horses legs to "help" with strenght. Lets say, you were forced to wear a rope around your legs and arms that only allows you to go so far. A rope. That cannot stretch. It would be uncomfortable. You would be given a stiff and tight and short stride.
You are right that being forced to run in a hobble would be very bad for a horse. However, this horse is being trained with a stretchy rubber band that is no different than the thera-bands or other stretchy rubber bands that humans use to build muscle. Saddlebreds (and other breeds like Hackneys, Dutch Harness Horses, Friesians, and American Shetlands) are often trained with rubber bands. The horse does not have to stretch the band, they could just shuffle along and ignore it, and some do. However, they often enjoy seeing how far they can stretch the rubber band, and build muscle and flexibility in the process. I know it looks weird, but I hope this helps clarify the funny leg gear.
No gait altering chains in my country UK. USA... Rich country, archaic animal rights views by some!! However.... To all the great people who try hard to right the wrongs... Big applause.
No she has elastic cord on the front feet to encourage them to stretch the legs..it doesnt hurt them at all. you are thinking of the Tennesse Walking Horse industry in which there is horrific abuse. this looks like a saddlebred not the same thing..
Andrew Gardiner No that’s Walking horses. The worst stuff you’ll see from see these trainers are a rubber band of sorts a couple of weights and nicked tails.
@Courtney Mears its called sore...he'll be in pads, chains and back legs kept sore...dont buy into , oh...saddlebreds dont do that. Their feet and legs are never inspected before showing
She was ridden about 6 times and then I changed trainers. David Blevins wanted to start her from the very beginning so he has been doing only ground work. When he returns from Louisville, he'll be starting her under saddle again! Yay! I can't wait to ride her.
She was injured in her first year of training. very sad but we did show her once in show pleasure driving and took her to a second show in San Diego but withdrew and didn’t show her again. she is now a couch potato at home.
I know I wd be wearing a helmet on any horse but especially a young horse. My BIL refused to wear a helmet as it interfered with his western cowboy image and he was a good rider. He hit his head on the paddock fence in a small spooked horse incident and has never been the same mentally ever since a real shame. so easily prevented...rediculous...
A helment is not needed when u trust the work and people that support and have your back on the ground . these guys are real professionals that know how to start and train a horse
@Ye Olde Horsemanship Channel people who are too soft to discipline a horse shd not have a horse or even a dog for that matter; helmets are for smart people i surmise...
Ye Olde Horsemanship Channel - sorry to disappoint you but we don’t represent all English riders, haha. We just love watching horse trainers that are not stressing out their horses, no matter what discipline. Gaited horses are gorgeous but often started too young, their backs not strong enough especially when ridden in the middle of the back by heavy riders, while being pushed to step high in the front and hold their heads too tight with rolled up necks. Just so darn stressful for baby horses, and unnatural, and leading to unsoundness, back problems, skittishness, and irregular gaits. They look stressed. Their energy is stressed and neurotic and out of balance.
That's not how u lunge a horse. You're moving way too much and that horse has zero respect for you. Stop moving so much and get you some clinton anderson. Search him up on UA-cam and he ll show u the correct way for lunging.

BeautifulDancingFreestyle2016 you are totally right to think about that horse 🤓🤓
Kelly Thomas The horse cannot speak. We must be there voice.
The rubber bands between the front legs are for strength training.

very unrelaxed poll and neck with hollow back ...
wow she even setting her head nicely already. how many rides undersaddle is this one
She has probably been ridden 12 times. She is very sensible and calm, and learning the cues!

@breyer ginger Yes, I'd like to see someone put their child in a pair of heavy shoes with their feet chained together. Disgusting.
Wonderful training...upload more videos for how to teach SINGLE footing walking
where did this mare go? never saw her show
