At first I thought “oh no”………then ended up thinking “oh YES”. Thanks for the inspiration :).

The aim is to put the idea out there and inspire! Maybe someone who loves dyeing will run with it. I can imagine there are amazing things you could do using the technique!

How long and how hot to set the dye?

200 f or 95 C for the heat. You can also heat it in the oven. On the stove I heat it just so it starts to steam only a little, no bubbles. The dye sets when it is no longer running out of the fibre, or, the fibre has taken up all the dye... It can take 5 min for light colours and up to an hour for darks. Let me know if you have any other questions. Dyeing was a huge learning curve for me.

It’s always nice if you can get the dyes locally, but it’s not always the case. I’m in New Zealand but still order the dyes from Dharma Trading www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/dharma-acid-dyes.html
The shipping costs are high but the dyes go a very long way so it’s worth it.
