@@farmsgrace341 any grease in the chain may be food safe... depends on what chain they bought. Many food factory machines use chain and so must use food safe lubrication. Besides, they're not cooking on the chain, and the heat from the welding would "cook/burn off" most oils/greased anyway from the immediate areas of the welds, and the heat from the fire would have most of the rest of it dripping away (maybe smoking the food, which wouldn't be so good).
It must be a satisfying life commenting your welding superiority onto a UA-cam short. Every UA-cam video like this has a tradesman come in saying “uhh actually, those joints are really off no decent carpenter would ever...”
@@TheFreeBro I mean ye? Tradesmen will always bust eachothers balls. Work in the blue collar industry and you'll find out. Also those "welds" were pretty meh 😜 personally I would've used TIG not MIG so I could make it look nice.

Yeah lemme just get out my welder, my metal, my bicycle chain, my angle grinder, and my spray paint that I have to pay more than $50 for instead of buying a $5 grill rack
I actually like the idea. Minus the paint and lubricants. Probably ensure you use chain with no O rings and soak in solvent to remove as much grease etc before fabricating then put the whole thing in a fire to burn excess lube after. Then it's probably ok to use
I like how he calls it DIY. Not everyone has a welder/bike chains and workshop equipment lying around. Also it would be cheaper to just go buy one. Lol 🤣
Yeah, but you have to disassemble a bike for the "chains". You need to buy a "welding-machine". You need to buy "steel rods". Also why "spray paint"???
Hollow stainless steel tubing of that diameter would be ridiculously expensive, and also ridiculously easy to bend. It would also be nearly impossible to weld without burning it up...even with the Tack & Pray method he's using.
Pretty cool portable grill idea. Too bad the legs don't come apart in sections too. (Screw together long rods?) Triangles with screw in middle rods would save even more space when packing it away.
All right this one definitely just earned a place in (my do not delete favorites playlist) This Grill is Awesome, and I plan on making it as a gift to my stepfather thank you and keep them coming!
How would it mix? Most of the lubricant probably burns off on the first fire, if not from the welding.. Besides, he probably degreased it before painting.
Bunch of haters. This is actually a clever solution. What the hell does he need more than a tack weld on anything in this video? You wanna see protection welding go watch a welding channel. This is absolutely appropriate for something this non critical. Worried about spray paint on the chain? Don't put your food on the chain links. What do you think your grill was coated with? Here's a clue..... It's paint. You're cooking on the bare steel rods. I'll be making one of these
Btw you could have mouth a gear on side and chain rotating just like cycle and little bit of structure and handle to one of gear just u can move back and forth. Anyways amazing work 💯👍🏻
Food, fire and paint... one of these doesn't belong.
Don't forget the oil/grease and rubber o-rings in the chain.
@@farmsgrace341 but there arent any rubber o rings in the chain?
High temp grill paint, probably to seal any contaminants in the chain.

You know there’s a tool to take apart a chain right
He hadn't
Yes. A metal saw.
@@heroclix0rz No.
A Punch.
Turns out those little metal pegs all come right on out...
You know there's a faster way to take apart a metal chain right? A grinder.
A heavy chain like that uses riveted pegs and they don't come apart like a bike chain. You can see the head on the peg if you look closely
Every Home Build Video I wait for someone who knows a welding method besides "TackTackTack"...
I'm still waiting, it seems...
Real tradesman know and only wannabe tradesman can’t pick out a stack of fisheyed tacks
😂😂😂
I should make you a video my welds look like shit but they ain't gonna break easy

Finally, a build that's actually useful. The next step is to make it adjustable height and sturdier when assembled.
Skip the paint, the rest is good 👍
Да ладно 😯я думал что то другое получится ваще зачёт в тачке возить самое то👍👍
You know spray painting the chain doesn't "clean it" right???
Also, heat will melt spray paint on your BBQ.
Why are you eating spray paint???
You know that spray paint for heat also exists?
Ever notice all the "dyi" videos require tools and equipment that most don't have in their garage? Lol
Well yeah diy is being able to have equipment on hand
The videos are still useful for those who do have them, or a reasonable alternative.
As my Grandpa would say "Nice job son." Not to me though because I was hopeless at metal fabrication. 🤣

Yes but there's value in making something if that's what you enjoy, regardless of cost.
Как-же Я раньше без этого жил? 🤔
Minus the paint, just wire brushed and oiled.
Supper cool idea!

This is so cool
Read that as “portable drill” and was confused for the whole video.
You're not alone.
What? I read it "Portable girl"
Now that's frakin' cool!
I flavor my BBQ with chain grease too...its delicious
Boiling water with detergent can degrease easily the chain. 🤣

What is the meaning of DIY. Pls can you tell me the real meaning of DIY in hindi Actually i m from punjab. So Pls dude can u tell me ❤️
Yeah, but you have to disassemble a bike for the "chains".
You need to buy a "welding-machine".
You need to buy "steel rods".
Also why "spray paint"???
This is a genius idea, the fact that it's rollable, means it's compact a easy to carry.
Compact grills already exist and you won't have to worry about paint rubbing off on your food
This is cool idea but even though it’s compact it would be quite heavy
Awesome idea.
Great idea 💡
this is cool but the beats crazy
To make it lighter use hollow tubing.
Hollow stainless steel tubing of that diameter would be ridiculously expensive, and also ridiculously easy to bend.
It would also be nearly impossible to weld without burning it up...even with the Tack & Pray method he's using.

I'm sure the oil/Grease off the chain isn't supposed to mix with food.
How would it mix? Most of the lubricant probably burns off on the first fire, if not from the welding.. Besides, he probably degreased it before painting.
