I do love the ideas you have expanded upon Slay The Spire, but it does seem far too similar and it appears to be a cash grab for an already great game (which is never mentioned). Monster Train being the example game is not fitting, the UI and map for example is just plain plagiarism.
I've played this game for about 20 hours, I really like it. Most important thing for me in those kind of games is to be able to have crazy OP builds, and this one delivered a few times! Some relics are underwhelming/unexciting. Can't wait for more content (heroes/allies/relics).
Exactly mate! I always end up doing the best thing in the long term. Sometimes I do get punished by it, but when I don't and the OP-ness kicks in I am in heaven :)
Watching this feels like everything is too easy and as long as you stay awake every build gets op. Referring to the biggest source of material, sts gives you the feeling every simple fight can hurt you to the point you wont make it to the boss. I just watched a unit die to get revived after the fight. Splatty got 7 potions on bank, he could upgrade every new card directly, he was visiting 2 useless shops, so wasting 2 opportunities to get stronger. Clearly there is no point in 2d fighting field if it is open and no conditions influence units behaviour, but then again you need to setup ai to get units moving around obstacles, all units clashed melee and never started searching for aggrod units so i assume there is a cancel when they can not hit it without moving stupidly. Uff. This is raw
Here's the difference between Rook Slide and Bishop Slide is Rooks can move up and down or side to side as far as they want, and Bishops can move diagonally in any direction as far as they want. It's a Chess metaphor.
I didn't realise how well balanced the auto battler and card system was, I thought it was a ragtag patchwork but it's well crafted in fact. I'm glad you offered me the opportunity to review my judgement.
Splat, if you hover a unit's "clan" (top icon on info card) you can actually see what their passive is. For instance the goblins are from the Stalker clan -> They TP to the furthest enemy (so it could help you control where they go at the beginning of a fight). You can remove cards at the shops.

I've been playing the hell out of this. No pun intended. It's been really addictive, but it is pretty bare bones atm. Plus, I think this game would benefit from a style overhaul. It's not too exciting to look at.
Definitely some rng to this game, which can fuck you over massively but that is to be expected. Definitely is balance issues but the devs seem alright, hopefully they continue to work on balance and improve the game. One to keep an eye on if you're into this kind of game.
Some but It's actually less than you would think, the teleporting units don't randomly teleport, he doesn't seem to notice, but if he hovered over the other colored symbol near the top of their card he would be able to read the Class ability which lets them teleport, and learn the rules they use to do so, then he would be able to place his units in a way to ensure they teleport on a specific unit.
I feel bad when i can cast spells while the enemies wait, then i realise you feel bored when just watching them brawl, then i understand without interfering you basically just choose the path, then you think about the hell it is to balance this out, then think about monster train and the stupidity of powering 3 units up all fight so they survive the boss wave, because there is nothing else offering "gameplay". Man this game is a mess. I dont know, i feel bad watching it. Looks like all of these games are recycling almost exact same ideas from each other. The PC "indie" gaming industry is becoming like the mobile gaming industry (minus the P2W shops). You can take a game like this, separate it into parts (probably 10-20 ideas), then go find those EXACT... and I mean literal exact ideas in a handful of other very similar games. They just mix and match the map, cards, card abilities, combat mechanics, etc and call it a new game with different art style.
