Didi, Zagallo, Nilton Santos, Pele, Vava, Garrincha...Best team ever. Didi was elected the best player of that tournament. That team won 2 world cups consecutives. Pele and Garrincha are our best legends and our best idols. After that we have in chronologic order, Zico, Romário and Ronaldo.
Ó dúvida cruel, ó cruel dúvida... Qual a melhor seleção, a de 58 ou a de 70 ??? Dane-se, tanto faz, foram as maiores seleções do mundo de todos os tempos!
I've read memoirs of Soviet players who were involved in this game. At the time, nobody knew yet who Pele and Garrincha were, and the USSR team was actually considered to be the favorite. A day before the game, the captain of the USSR team, Igor Netto, and two of his teammates went out for a walk along the river, and they bumped into Garrincha, who was also enjoying a walk outdoors by himself. They chatted for a while, and the Soviet players were not impressed with Garrincha; they though he was just a young kid, almost a child, with small physical frame, who seemed to be limping too, and so they didn't take him seriously. Then, when on the second minute of the game Garrincha dribbled around three players and hit the goalpost, all the players heard the loud bang, and the goalkeeper, Lev Yashin, even a few seconds later still could feel how the steel post was vibrating from the ball impact. Such was the power of Garrincha's strike (turned out, one of his legs was 6 cm shorter than the other, which allowed him to make unusually powerful strikes from awkward positions, taking goalies by surprise). Suddenly things got very serious, and, as Netto writes, the USSR players suddenly realized that this is going to be some serious shit.
Dont judge a object to its jacket ! I did not know this story but i am sure that without tv and the web, so man people did not know Pelé and Garrincha.
@@worldcupvintagecolorized4045 as I understand, this was the first game where both Pele and Garrincha appeared on the world stage. They became famous soon after.

@@worldcupvintagecolorized4045 Before the game the coach said: Garrincha! You get the ball in the middle of the field and dribble one, two, three or four russians and, from the right wing, kick the ball for Vavá to score. Garrincha asked: But did you arrange these moves with the Russians?

As soon as the afrobrazilians got on a football pitch, Brazil became THE WORLD'S powerhouse in this sport. Racism didn´t make it happen before.
Pele did not play the 2 first games because he was injured. He got into game against USSR.
Thks for this information, i believed just because of the draw vs England, the brazilian coach wanted to try something else in attack.
