Considering he was given the name Darth Maul by becoming Darth Sidious' apprentice, he's no pretender. Savage Oppress never got the title or a new name, so pretender he is.
When you said Maul would almost definitely kill Marg Krim and the other Pyke leaders I don't think that would be possible considering Marg Krim and almost all the Pyke chapters were killed in Dark Disciple when Black Sun besieged Oba Diah so the Ahsoka arc in this season has to take place before that novel. Here's what I think: This arc takes place concurrently with Son of Dathomir but before the Pykes leave the syndicate so that means that after the episode "Together again" (the final episode of this arc) the final part of Son of Dathomir happens and the Pykes leave the collective and then the Siege of Mandalore happens. So what I'm saying is that there's quite a lot between this arc and siege of Mandalore.
Everyone says that during these episodes the Battle of Courascaunt is happening (sorry for bad spelling). However, I honestly believe that the whole of Episode 3 takes place starting with episode 9 of this arc. In E9 of the arc, Anikan and the 501st are assigned the Siege of Mandalore, but he is called back to save the Chancellor. Then, by the end of episode 10, Grievous is dead on Utupau, and Order 66 is being enacted. That leaves episodes 11 and 12 to talk about that aftermath and figure out where to go from there. This is all my opinion of course as at the time of this comment the last 4 episodes aren’t out yet. But it does make sense, considering that if the BoC was happening during the arc of episodes 5-8, as has been suggested, then they couldn’t have gotten to and from Courscant so easily.
There are only 2 sith and the titles were held by sidious and tyrannus. Whilst maul held the darth title he was replaced which meant his legitimacy was removed and so they are technically pretenders.
Tyrone Joseph This is true. But honestly I don’t know if I can ever consider Dooku a Sith, he was just a political puppet, hell he even risked the rise of the Sith by telling Obi wan the truth of a Sith Lord in control of the republic. He’s more dark Jedi who got taught lightning by a Sith to me
Maul was more of a derange crime lord with Force powers. a.) Maul did know how to read/ write in Sith. b.) Maul in Legends did know how to cast a few Sith magic spells/ rituals. What separates a Sith Acolyte , Sith master, and a Sith Lord ? i.) A master without an apprentice is a master of nothing. ii.) Maul built his crime empire following the lessons he learn from his master and Sith holocrons as a child/ young adult. Maul was following the ways of the ancient Sith Lords/ masters. " Maul was following the Ways of the Sith, there for Maul was a Sith." As for Ban's " Rule of Two " being a Sith Lord, well he would have to kill his master first. The only reason he was always quoting the " Rule of Two," was cause he was brain washed into it as a child and through his anger he drew strength.... Clone Wars : Maul Hates.... a.) Kenobi for defeating him. b.) Hates himself for being careless enough to let Kenobi defeat him. c.) Left on a scrap planet alone for years. d.) Fail his master in being soo easily defeat by a Jedi he just over come. Here is the sad part, Maul built his crime empire to earn his master/ father approval only to see his brother get cut down. Even in KOTOR every Sith or darkside has nearly the same flaw that keeps them from being a true Sith, a true follower of the Darkside. They care enough for another person to let themselves be defeated or allow themselves to die for another's befit..... A true Sith only cares about their own power and the increasing of their own power only. As for Sith Lord this and Sith Lord that, it is all a crap throwing contest of keyboard warriors.
@@brettzky183 Huh? Every apprentice is a political tool that's half the point. Why would Dooku being exactly what a Sith apprentice is make him not a Sith apprentice?
If one lost shipment could bring them down, then I have to wonder how much power they currently have. Sounds like they didn't have the credits to cover it if it was a question of life or death.
I always found it interesting how loyal the death watch was to maul. Most others would have cut and run as soon as his luck turned but they stood by him until the shadow collectives total downfall
Maul reason for creating a Shadow collective & crimson Dawn is too build a empire and build up enough resources and power to try to take the Galaxy away from his old master Darth Sidious ...but in the end he fails at that
I used to be just a movie scrub. Then I finally watched Clone Wars and Rebels and now I want to dive all the way into canon. Where should I start reading?
If Maul who has had years of sith training is a sith pretender then Rey is no Jedi for she never trained in the Jedi ways. Maul is and always will be a true Sith Lord.
@@Nate-mq4rh Episode 8 is called the Last Jedi and Luke pretty much calls her that when he fights Kylo and while Rey is lifting up a couple of boulders which is suppose to signify how she is a worthy Jedi. The Jedi force Ghost in episode 9 all pretty much call her a Jedi acting as if she's one of them. Pretty much every comic and book set after episode 8 directly or indirectly calls Rey a Jedi.
8:52 not necessarily true, the cost of that shipment could easily be covered by the Pykes. Companies have to use their own money to cover lost or damaged product all the time. They cared so much because their reputation is at stake.
Thank you so much for this video. I knew the Ahsoka arc had to either take place during or after the son of dathomir comic and also be before the dark disciple novel. This helps clear it up. Marg Krib dies in dark disciple so this arc takes place before that but the pykes left maul in some of dathomir. I figured maul just threatened them to come work with him again.
This is Canon for me! I hope that Son of Dathomir is somehow one day turned into actually episodes! I really want to see Grievous, Dooku, Maul, and Sidious on screen together!
Correct me if this is wrong, but I wasn't surprised or confused to see maul. After watching the movie, Solo, I was under the impression that Maul had ties to the criminal world and smuggling. Didn't have to read the comic mentioned in the vid to make that connection.
How can Starwars be such a staple in modern film & culture yet contain such horrible storytelling... these last 3 episodes were so painful to watch as a fan.
Here's an idea for the video for episode 9 of season 7 based on a theory I had for what's going to happen. In the season 7 trailer, we see a battle involving Obi-Wan and presumably Anakin leading Jet Troopers against some Separatist Droid forces, then considering we have that scene where Anakin asks Rex why he called them back to the ship to reveal Ahsoka and Bo-Katan, it's most likely at the relative start of episode 9 Obi-Wan and Anakin will be involved in a battle before coming to meet Ahsoka. If that's the case the battle may be the Third Battle of Tythe, which from what I heard in Legends was what Obi-Wan and Anakin were doing right before episode 3. If this will, in fact, be Tythe, then maybe you could consider doing a video on the battle for the next video? Of course, that's just a theory, the writers could choose another battle that happened right before episode 3, like Cato Nemodia or even make a whole new battle.
I theorize that if Sidious never went to Mandalore and capture Maul, then his criminal empire would’ve prospered without the Seperatists interfering and Savage Opress would still be alive, until the Galactic Empire came and and Sidious would’ve sent Darth Vader to deal with them.
Maul was arguably the smartest of the Sith, or at least just as smart as Sidious. But unlike Sidious, Maul never underestimated his enemies, not since Obi-Wan and later Sidious defeated him.
Prehaps this is a bad idea. But could you guys see of you could collab with a bunch of other Star Wars UA-camrs it doesn't matter if they focus on gaming, lore, books, art or even meme's as long have a opinion/exprience they want to share. And make a vid were you all talk about you're personal favorite, Most hated and best moments in all of Star wars and also why you keep coming back. I would enjoy listening to people talk about their memories of Star wars and remenis with them. I'm not pretentending I know how hard it is to be a UA-camr or how hard it is to for fill this request of mine and I already apreciate someone, anyone reading my rambling. Thanks for your time keep up the great work. And may force be with you all.
I just wish the circular episode 7 didnt exist and was subbed for more siege of mandalor content It starts with them being imprisoned then 20 mins of bad character development then theyre captured again
honestly, if the sequels didnt stop star wars future story, i think we might see several factions fighting eachother based on the ones we've already witnessed. The Republic will try to rebuild itself, but the curroption will still eat at it, the sepratists will reform due to different ideals, but with new toys. A new empire might rise again to challenge them, but their control will be based on assertiveness. The rebels might become zealous against all factions, meaning the republic and sepratists see them as a threat. So we might see these factions fight one another due to the past forming opinions based on experience, star wars will never know peace.

What do you mean Sith Pretenders, they weren’t pretending why they used Sith power and they weren’t pretending when they killed the Duchess!
" Maul was following the Ways of the Sith, there for Maul was a Sith."
As for Ban's " Rule of Two " being a Sith Lord, well he would have to kill his master first.
Ahsokas walkabout arc: ends
Me: I've been looking forward to this!
I don't get why the pykes need the spice so bad - can't they just pay it off or mine some more?
If one lost shipment could bring them down, then I have to wonder how much power they currently have. Sounds like they didn't have the credits to cover it if it was a question of life or death.
I always found it interesting how loyal the death watch was to maul. Most others would have cut and run as soon as his luck turned but they stood by him until the shadow collectives total downfall
He really knows how to scrap together an army huh?
Since we saw maul in solo, that means his criminal organization was still operational after order 66 right?
Yes, we can roughly say that his Crimson Dawn lasted about 15 years, at the least.
Only 4 more episodes? Damn, I would've loved to have seen the Bad Batch Kashyyyk arc and the Boba vs Cad arc..
This would of been such a good arch UGH
Maul reason for creating a Shadow collective & crimson Dawn is too build a empire and build up enough resources and power to try to take the Galaxy away from his old master Darth Sidious ...but in the end he fails at that
Great Video!
In-depth analysis
And on point
I do love this Season of the clone wars I wish they could done more episodes like all of the unfinished episodes to be animated for the season.
I used to be just a movie scrub. Then I finally watched Clone Wars and Rebels and now I want to dive all the way into canon. Where should I start reading?
Son of Dathomir because its the first canon comic to exist
I love how Maul is basically the Star Wars godfather of the crime syndicates
If Maul who has had years of sith training is a sith pretender then Rey is no Jedi for she never trained in the Jedi ways. Maul is and always will be a true Sith Lord.
no one ever said rey was a real jedi tho
Man if only if this season were longer, and maybe we could have gotten that Maul arc
Woah woah woah woah. "Sith pretenders?"
The battle of dathamear needs to be a stand alone movie
Finally someone covered this !
This would of been great to see in a clone wars arc
Geetsly’s didn’t even mention Palpatine using Maul’s stealth ship, man... he’s slackin’!
If the Pykes and Black Sun went to war with each other than maybe the Pykes went to Maul for help
This is Canon for me! I hope that Son of Dathomir is somehow one day turned into actually episodes! I really want to see Grievous, Dooku, Maul, and Sidious on screen together!
If these got to be made into episodes they would’ve been a masterpiece
Lock and loaded * 2mins later gets force choked by palpatine with one hand *
I only want to see my boi Grievous again 😭
Darth Maul, from Sith Apprentice, to Star Wars's Kingpin.
Part of me wishes that the Clone Wars was a 3 way war between the Republic, CIS, and the Shadow Collective
Forgotten? That the first thing I think then I heard about a new clone wars season.
9:03 well I mean and she shot some people
wow i never would have thought grevieous would defeat maul in a duel :O
Hi Geetsly's,
I was wondering if it was possible for someone to turn back to the light side as a result of a form of 'torture'
Correct me if this is wrong, but I wasn't surprised or confused to see maul. After watching the movie, Solo, I was under the impression that Maul had ties to the criminal world and smuggling. Didn't have to read the comic mentioned in the vid to make that connection.
For some reason it says there's no views and yet there's 7 likes
How can Starwars be such a staple in modern film & culture yet contain such horrible storytelling... these last 3 episodes were so painful to watch as a fan.
pointless episodes they were just running around the prison doing laps...did anyone tell them this is the last season for christ sake
Disney just wanted to do the least amount of effort and try to win back fans trust.
Son of Dathomir is the best arc that we wont see
I really hate how they had a different voice actor for Palpatine later on in the show. The original voice actor was just so good!
The original voice actor died...
Itd be cool to hear about crimson dawn in the book of boba fett, maybe he was the one that dismantled them and put jabba back on top
I kind of felt like this arc could have been 2 episodes and it would've done the same thing.
How about we got that comic as an entire season of the clone wars. It looks good.
I never forgot he was intelligent. He was always more inventive than Sideous gave him credit for.
Maul was arguably the smartest of the Sith, or at least just as smart as Sidious. But unlike Sidious, Maul never underestimated his enemies, not since Obi-Wan and later Sidious defeated him.
I think Maul's story could have been animated before the showdown
Love it
Grievous doesn't defeat Maul in combat at any point in Son of Dathomir
Yes he does, if you have to run from a duel then you lose
@@bobthegoat5005 Yeah, so he won. I never said anything about dueling skills.
For the last video how was the republic successful?
Why does mauls new lightsaber have that thingy at the one end?
Liked the Crimson Dawn Reference
I'm wondering if the spice that the sisters stole will play a role as well
Are dooku and grievous even going to appear on season 7?
Thought it was stated in the episode where maul would send the black son to replace them?
I just wish the circular episode 7 didnt exist and was subbed for more siege of mandalor content
It starts with them being imprisoned then 20 mins of bad character development then theyre captured again
honestly, if the sequels didnt stop star wars future story, i think we might see several factions fighting eachother based on the ones we've already witnessed.
Are you really a genius if you just threaten to kill everyone if they don’t join you..? I get it, classic fear tactics work, but he lost everything on his quests for vengeance..? Just doesn’t seem sustainable...
there is old saying that if you seek revenge, dig two graves.
i was looking for this
The Pike king is kida sypathic to me
I’m wondering just how the pykes rejoined maul. They left in SoD, so I what to know what happened there.
Well now I have to read son ofdathomir!!
Dryden Vos: Lord Maul, we-
Maul: “holds out ring finger and Dryden kisses it”
Dryden Vos: This is a simple misunderstanding.
Maul: You come to me the day my brother is to be married?
Or:
Maul: Who am I?
Jabba: You’re the man who killed Pre Viszla.
Maul: Say my name.
Jabba: Maul.
Maul: You’re god damn right.
All but exterminated the Night Brothers. Yet, by the events of SW Jedi: Fallen Order, the Night Brothers don't seem to have issues with their numbers. (Without any "available" Night Sister either.)
What the hell happened?
I'm no rabid maul fan or anything, but I'm pretty sure Maul is not a sith pretender. He was the dark lord of the sith, wasn't he?
Anyways, good video.
Mandos are the best things that have ever existed in Star Wars.
Never read son of dathomir but I watch many MANY!!!! youtube videos covering. At times I wish maul joined forces with the jedi
What would be great
A Maul Crime Empire TV Show
I think Ahsoka will be a great addition to the Mandalore Arc.
Leo Almeida she’s literally the main character of it tf you mean
I’m having the hardest time understanding the timeline so at this point is maul captured by darth sideous or is he still in control of mandalore but then the last time we saw satines sister she was helping obi wan escape so what is she planning on doing with the pikes and why is she now trying to go to ahsoka for help was ahsoka on mandalore when they rescued obi wan and didn’t want to show her face or what this shit needs to be explained
1:13 sith pretenders 😂 you mean count doku right Darth maul is a true sith Lord.
Nabil Ahmad Maul wasn’t actually a Sith Lord he was only an assassin
@@ryneclark2622 No dude that was just a cover story Palpatine gave Plagueis to keep his guard down. Palpatine took him in as an official apprentice and gave him the title "Lord Maul" in the Phantom menace
@@ryneclark2622 he wanted to make maul to a sith lord after he kills plagueis but that never happend because sidios thinked he died
It looks like at some point Maul was able to bring the collective back together from hiwbthe last arc went
Imagine if the last 4 episodes of clone wars was just Ashoka and the two sisters running in and out of jail still hahaha. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney would do that to fuck with people
I think it would be great for us adults however the SOD arc is not for children.
Too much screaming in pain and death. A true war horror story taking place within the space of the stars.
