In this video I show you how to remove a rear window shelf/deck or also known as a BMW Parcel Shelf.I do this on a BMW E46 330i but can be used for many other models for example 323i, 325i, 328i, ect. I also show you how to remove the e46 rear seats. Note that the car I removed them on are NOT foldable.

Thanks for the video! I need to do this. My car's black rear shelf has been sun bleached purple. I think I'll try a black upholstery paint on it and see how that works out. Reupholstering it seems like overkill.

Nah this single handedly convinced me to get a different car ASAP, it's so simple to just have a trunk release handle, and they can't be bothered but you can be bothered taking your entire rear apart for a simple mistake...no thanks...
The 'C' pillar trim has already been removed, is it necessary that it be removed before removing the rear deck?

I have the same problem trying to get into the back there to remove a tint layer. Did you find an easy way to do it?
in another video a guy showed that you can take the headrests off by rocking them back and forth, but you actually undid the clips. i wonder if the different years made them different when the head rests go into the tray.

? Is it anyway you could swap out rear seat that don't fold to folding seats I'm asking bc I just recently brought interior out of a wrecked e46 but just realized I don't have folding seats in my e46.!!!
My headliner is fine but my a,b, and c pillars are bad so I am recovering them but doubt the headliner also. Should I do the deck lid?

Hello ! My rear shelf is freaking loud.. I mean it cracks at holes, while driving.. Any ideas how fix that without taking off seats? Maybe pull out speakers and try put some wooden blocks at bottom to reduce that noice?

@@ShopLifeTV After a lot of research, I finally figured out a very good speaker replacement strategy. Everyone on forums either does a hack job or just says get the bavsound kit, which is great if you want to burn $700. I got a jbl gx600c box set and another set of floor model woofers only on ebay for $90. I bought 4 Tymphany ne65-04w speakers from parts express. That's all 10 speakers for $220. I used Amazon e46 speaker adapters for the front woofers, for the rear shelf, I made aluminum adapters on a scroll saw, and I had to do some light dremeling of the midrange brackets. The tweeters wedge into factory brackets with their flush mounts. Basically this is as good or better than a bav sound kit for $220, plus cutting some light aluminum and some wiring work. All of it is factory level fit apart from the rear grills have to be propped up a bit with something under them to keep them from rubbing the woofers. However, that doesn't look out of place at all. I have a pretty good ear for speakers, sound quality is ligitimately amazing. The factory amp and radio are quite clear and powerful, and have notch filters for cabin resonance. It would take at least $1.5k in aftermarket amplification and professional tuning to beat the oem electronics. Sealing and sound deadening doors and door panels is also very effective for road noise and sound quality, but very time consuming.

Depth wise, most would fit. However you would likely have to cut some of the shelf and factory grills would not fit. I used 6.5" jbl gx600c speakers with aluminum adapters I cut out on a scroll saw.

do foldable backseats fit the non folding version cars?
Doubt it. Foldable seats were an expensive option as BMW had to re-inforce the chassis a different way apparently. If you have non folding seats, there will be a solid panel behind them with maybe a hole for the ski hatch.
Foldable seats do not fit non-foldable cars. I am having the same issue on the s54 swap car since I am trying to find a non-foldable brown back for the rear seats.
thanks for the reply, yeah but finding a rear seat like that, that is decent looking is quite hard to find. letting someone re- cover the seats in new leather fabric almost seems like a better alternative.
Removing is easy but fitting everything back is difficult...

There's another way of taking it of have subwoofers in the back and crank it up and it starts to come loss hahaha mine rattles all over since the sub air can't exit out of nowhere from that trunk it's so close I need to find a black seat that has that cup holders in the middle to make that same hole like you bmw would make them wierd like that seats don't go down

This isn't the same as the 2005 325ci right? Bc the back seats can go down? Really not sure how to take em out. Btw I fucks with ur show been trying find a UA-cam channel that does e46 lol keep it up bro!
+Anel Kadiric The bottom section is the same but the top section of the seat you will have a torx screw that allows you to remove the hinges so you can get the seats out.
