Glad it could help. When I last weighed it, it was 3350 lb with me in it. That is the weight including the half cage, racing seat, and harness that I put into it. If I were to subtract the weight of myself, the cage, and seat that I added after this video, it would come out to roughly 3060 lb but itself. That is with a virtually empty fuel tank, the tank still had enough fuel to roll onto the scales but it was on empty.
I did remove the carpet before removing the bar, but I do believe that it can be removed before removing the carpet. I just uploaded a new video today where I took out the bar if you want to see how it comes out.
An E46 330 or M3 weights approx. 1490 kgs, so by dismantling (destroying) the interior like you did in this video, you will have effectively reduced 0.6% of the car's weight. For sure it will be very noticeable! hahaha! :D
The curb weight of the car is actually 3461 pounds (1569 kilograms) not a huge difference, but that's the weight of a person. I've gutted the entire interior at this point bring my weight down to about 3100 pounds (1406 kilograms) and it does make a really big difference on track. I still need to drop 100 pounds (45 kilograms) to be at my minimum allowed weight, but that's not accounting for me, so it's more like 290 pounds (131 kilograms) I can still drop. I also took care to remove the entire interior properly as to be able to either re install it, or sell it. Past a few broken clips that can be replaced, the whole thing is still in "original" shape, meaning as good as it was when I bought the car. The parts I took out in this video isn't huge, but even 1 kilogram out of the car makes a noticeable difference in the timing. I don't personally feel that small of a difference, but the timing shows it. Baby steps haha
I'm struggling to remove door trim on the bottom. My passenger side is out already from the previous owner but I need to get the driver side out too and can't do it. Any suggestions? Thanks for the vid!
I got the one on the furthest back undone first (thats the one I show that broke) and then slid the whole thing back. You can see the clips were still left in the body, the trim has the slotted in, so they can just slide freely once the rear ones are out. The clips are very hard to remove, and I didn't show it in the video but I proceeded to remove them all and broke all but 2. If I ever put it back in, ill just buy new clips. Don't be afraid to break them, just don't break the trim piece.
Thanks for documenting this, planning to do the same to my 330ci. I'm interested to know what is the total weight removed from the car so far?

Thanks for the info, really interested to see what else you got in store for your M3. Subbed! Loving the content
Glad you're liking it, I have a lot of good stuff planned for it this winter, just need to battle the cold...
How does one dry said carpet without doing this 👀
best video ever
Did you have to remove the carpet prior to removing that bar?

Yes can you please link it here

@@WannabeRacer I've got new clips already, I'll try getting the back one out, thank you!
@@BuzzOffFacker Prefect, try to get the back 2 off because the one at the upward angle will stop you from being able to slide it.
