Wife and i have done similar to this but with a blue poly tank. We added mosquito netting tent over the tank as we mostly use it at night after work. I'm thinking of insulating the tank with spray foam and cover that with pallet wood vertically oriented for a hot tub look! We float around on our back looking at stars through the netting. Very relaxing! Thanks for sharing, and you have a very nice setup there!
Great idea. I talked about doing something like this years ago, only it was with plastic feeders. I figured an 8 footer to sit in and a 4 footer to drop your feet into. Mounting one over the other and then fiber glassing the works!! Then spray foam the outside of the entire thing after fittings and then drop the entire thing into the ground. Hook up the pump, heater and lines and order a cover for it. I figure it being insulated from the ground would keep the ground from sucking the heat out and covering it would also keep the heat in.. Still might try it some day, but in the mean while, I love yours!!!!

Chlorine will keep your water sanitary, but the rest of the pool chemistry is important as well. The galvanizing will last a lot longer if you keep your pH in the recommended 7.8-8.2 range, and keep your TDS down as much as possible.

No worries, prep is the most important part. I used Scotch Brite sanding pads to sand the entire inside of the pool. Pre-drill all your holes for your fittings if you haven't already. Clean the entire inside of the pool with acetone, one thing I did not mention in the video is the importance of using an adhesion promotor, such as bulldog adhesion promoter on the urethane seal used on the pool before spraying the raptor liner. Any other questions please let me know. Also let me know how it turns out I'm interested in knowing. I'm doing another pool for my neighbor next week and I'll do a more detailed video.
@@tetradgroup quick question as I'm about to tackle our stock tank.. I assume you spray the adhesion promotor on after cleaning with acetone? For the Scotch Brite sanding pads - is there a specific grit you would recommend?

I wonder if any chemicals leach out of whatever you use to line a pool or worse a hot one and soaking into your skin or breathing in some possibly toxic fumes.
Maybe you can help. We've had ours for about 4 months and started to get a buildup of something on the sides and bottom that makes it feel like sand paper. Always made sure the chlorine levels were right and ran the pump around 8 hours a day. Guessing the water was too hard still and it's a calcium buildup but not sure...
How much it cost ya..for the tank the pump the water heaters and hoses valves and clamps the raptor liner and how did you get those holes to fit so perfect with those grommets those intake outlets ? How much you pay to run the pump and water heaters? How many times can you heat your pool up from 65 to 88? Does it only heat your pool 3 times with the regular size one and how much electricity yall need and does it have to be ground? We are on old electrical lines over here.thank you buddy.
I'm very interested in doing this. I've already failed at trying pond shield. It got too hot and hardened fast, plus it tore apart the rollers I was using to put it on. So basically I have a half painted pool. Will this stuff work if I sand the pond shield to give it grip? There's no way the pond shield is coming completely off. How much adhesion promotor did you use? Any additional tips? Ever thought of asking an auto paint guy to do the job? Thanks for you suggestions.
Did you fill the seams with some sort of caulk prior to spraying the Raptor? Going to do this once the heat goes away here in Texas. Looks great by the way
I used the six quart kit, double coat on bottom, sprayed horizontal lines then rolled pool 90⁰ and sprayed 2nd coat horizontal as well to prevent stripping and heavy on the walls. This took 5 quarts, the final quart I sprayed entire pool at a distance to make a consistent final coat.
I just did one coat and it covered it fairly well with the 6L kit. I probably would get the 8L kit if I were to do it again just to make it a little thicker around the seams and sealant.
Cant you rough it up or sandblast then apply an epoxy coat then go for some kind of vinyl or fiberglass with a thick epoxy over that ? I think acrylic might bebad...maybe even a porcelain or resin coat like you would for atub and shower overlay ...to cover over the existing one?
Sanded using electric sander with Scotch Brite pads, just enough to scuff the surface, cleaned with rags and acetone. Used Raptor Liner's adhesion promoter on entire surface especially around sealant. I'm on my 3rd season and still in great condition.
Thanks for the video, great stuff! Just curious, are you running dual pumps for the heaters or are you splitting it from 1 pump to both and then back in? Just saw the one outlet and ofcourse dual heaters.
Love your video, thanks. I am in my first year of use of our stock tank pool, kids are loving it. I also considered a truck bed liner product, so I can't wait to see how it stands up over the year. I do have a question you might be able to help with. I have a sand filter like you, and float chlorine tablets in the 700 gallon tank (3 tabs at a time). Do you have to use a pool shock product in your pool water or does the floater and tabs do everything you need to keep the water treated. P.S. It looks great with the metallic blue.
I only use the floating chlorine dispenser and my pool stays crystal clear especially with the skimmer installed. It works for me however different water sources (city, well, irrigation) and different climates might affect the amount of chlorine or other chemicals like shock treatments.
Wowsers, 3 tabs at a time? Why? Have run mine for 3 years and never needed more than 4 tabs a whole season. We only float the holder every other week on its lowest setting with 1 tab in it. We are almost 8 months into the pool being raptorlined. we have large breed dogs that jump in and out. Absolutely no issues with claw scrapes, fading or chipping/letting loose. by far the best improvement we have made.
Do you have to sand and prime before using the raptor stuff? We used a pool paint (epoxy) and it peeled off in one season. The tank was sanded down and primed with galvanized metal primer. Right now we have a liner in ours but it’s not attractive at all. Your method is SUPERB
I did not use primer, some will argue primer is an absolute must however everyone I know who has used a primer the liner has failed. The galvanizing itself acts as a primer so all I did was sand, use adhesion promoter in a spray can, and spray the liner after cleaning the entire inside with acetone. I've done three pools so far that have been flawless no issues at all. Thanks for the comment and let me know if you have any other questions.
I've done some water test and found a large amount of dihydrogen monoxide, chlorine, and a trace of urea after the kids went swimming. The label mentioned Something about the product containing chemicals that are known in the state of California to cause cancer. We don't live in California so I think we should be fine.
Well. My post is still hidden. But the safety data sheet is out there. It may cause cancer, but not according to California (dude didn't actually do any research) and it's harmful to aquatic life. The choice is yours. He made his.

nice job...any thoughts to installing a passive solar water heater ? any thoughts to installing insulation around the pool...you know, to help keep the heat in...cause that metal conducts heat really good....lots of heat loss there.
For sure, now that it's summer time I'm running the water thru 200' of black garden hose, works great this time of year. I use the propane heaters if I want it hot tube temp and also early spring and into the winter. I haven't used any insulation because the heaters work so fast and efficient, heat it up when I use it and turn it off when I get done, it's been working great for us and without a top on the pool not sure insulation around the side would help much.
The link for the tankless heater is no longer good. Can you please reply with the make and model? Also, how did you hook it up? The ones that I have tried have a pressure sensor in them which relies on detecting a pressure drop from an opened faucet valve to turn on, but you never get that with a water pump.
Just one pump and cold water is split at the pump. Depending on the water temperature whether or not I run both heaters at the same time. Most of the time I can run one heater but when it's cold out I can run both.
Tell me more about the configuration of the deluxe wall mounted skimmer. Did you have to purchase any additional parts/tubing to connect it to the pool and filter.
The skimmer came with everything you need, the bracket is for pools with a bigger rail. I did not use the bracket I just used a clamp from the hardware store to hold the skimmer to the wall of the stock tank pool. It came with the hose and fitting to attach to your inlet of the pool if you used the Intex inlet valve.
How is the Seaflo holding up? I've read several comments on other sites about it only having a 15 minute duty cycle. Are you using a fan or anything else special to keep the pump running?
Interesting, I run it for hours at a time with no issues. I've had the pump for a year now and still working perfectly. The pump owes me absolutely nothing and if I had to buy a replacement tomorrow I most certainly would. It's been a great pump.
Hi there! Enjoyed your video. I am looking to do the inside of mine in the white. It is a brand new stock stank. I listened to the whole video to make sure I did not miss you saying anything regarding it but as far as prepping the inside are there any certain recommendations? I used a tractor metal primer and tractor metal paint on the outside and forgot to sand so I am hoping it holds up.
I sanded, cleaned, and used adhesion promoter on the entire surface. Some will say it needs a primer but the ones Ive seen use primer caused the liner to fail. I'm on my third season and the liner is holding up perfectly.
Do you have a link or the name of the type of clamp you used for the skimmer? I am a DIY mom chic and have this pool had a heck of a time getting the skimmer to not ride up. thanks and great job!
Hello. Question unrelated to the heaters. My wife and I are in the process of a build right now. Got everything assembled yesterday and my plunger valves are leaking from the top. Any ideas on what a possible resolution could be? Thanks in advance
I'm assuming you're using the Intex plungers. If you spin the top off you will see an o-ring on the plunger slide itself. You also see a Phillips head screw on the bottom of it which retains the upper half of the plunger if you pull that screw out and pull the plunger apart you will see an o-ring inside of there. One of these o-rings must be bad.
@@tetradgroup I’ll have to spin it off and check. It was also leaking from the bottom part that goes into the hose that connects to the pump. Not sure how that’s even possible since it’s actually inside the hose itself. Very frustrating lol
@@ceekay820 that is frustrating, sorry you're having issues. Do you have the black rubber gasket in the bottom of the plunger where the hose screws on?
@@tetradgroup I'll have to double check when I get home from work. Hopefully it's as simple as a missing gasket. I was also gonna wrap the threads in pipe tape for some added security
Not before I installed the liner, however after I did the raptor liner they did leak a little bit so I had to remove them and use silicone, I tried to avoid the silicone but in the end I needed it. The gaskets are really thick and form around the ridges fairly well. Just a thickness of the spray and liner, or maybe the texture had something to do with why mine was leaking.
How is the Raptor liner holding up? How long have you had painted for? I just ordered mine. Im excited thank you so much for this video very helpful and educational! God bless!

So I used pond epoxy in my stock tank and it was not successful and ended up chipping. I bought the truck bed liner and started sanding. I’m struggling sanding off the epoxy do you think it would be ok to spray the truck bed line river the epoxy and not have it chip?

Total project was about $2k
What size is the stock tank? How many of the 6 liters did you have to use. Mine is 10’ diameter. Hoping a 6 liter kit will cover it.
Maybe get another batch of pond shield and do the rest?
Did you fill the seams with some sort of caulk prior to spraying the Raptor? Going to do this once the heat goes away here in Texas. Looks great by the way
I did not add any caulk, the seams were already sealed, just make sure to use adhesion promoter.
How many cans of the Liner did you end up needing for a good coat? did you double coat it?
I used the six quart kit, double coat on bottom, sprayed horizontal lines then rolled pool 90⁰ and sprayed 2nd coat horizontal as well to prevent stripping and heavy on the walls. This took 5 quarts, the final quart I sprayed entire pool at a distance to make a consistent final coat.
Good vid very helpful. Installed mine as you did. However I still watch this vid sometimes “just to be sure” I didn’t miss anything. Lol
Awesome thanks, I'd love to see pictures of your setup!
Did you do one or two coats? Prepping mine and just trying to get an idea of how much material i will need.
I just did one coat and it covered it fairly well with the 6L kit. I probably would get the 8L kit if I were to do it again just to make it a little thicker around the seams and sealant.
Like her hand motion for the first couple of minutes
What were the Home Depot inlets and outlets for the hot water?
Cant you rough it up or sandblast then apply an epoxy coat then go for some kind of vinyl or fiberglass with a thick epoxy over that ? I think acrylic might bebad...maybe even a porcelain or resin coat like you would for atub and shower overlay ...to cover over the existing one?
NICE IDEA. I MIGHT HAVE TO GET ME ONE AND DO THE SAME. THANKS FOR SHARING.
great idea and terrific follow thru..
Do u hv a video on how u set it up as a hottub
Could you explain what you did to prep your tank for the raptor liner?
Sanded using electric sander with Scotch Brite pads, just enough to scuff the surface, cleaned with rags and acetone. Used Raptor Liner's adhesion promoter on entire surface especially around sealant. I'm on my 3rd season and still in great condition.
Thanks for the video, great stuff! Just curious, are you running dual pumps for the heaters or are you splitting it from 1 pump to both and then back in? Just saw the one outlet and ofcourse dual heaters.
Can you show a video of how you did the hot water set up
Love your video, thanks.
Great video! I wondered what size tank that was?
Cool idea man ! What about the chemicals the paint releases? Does it release dangerous chemicals into the water since it's meant for a truck bed ?
I've done some water test and found a large amount of dihydrogen monoxide, chlorine, and a trace of urea after the kids went swimming. The label mentioned Something about the product containing chemicals that are known in the state of California to cause cancer. We don't live in California so I think we should be fine.
@@tetradgroup 😂 You crack me up!

How long did this product last? Did it ever bubble up and start to peel?
I love this! why shouldn't you you flex seal in it?
Thank you, flex seal will peel off very quickly, will not adhere to the galvanizing of the tank.
The link for the tankless heater is no longer good. Can you please reply with the make and model? Also, how did you hook it up? The ones that I have tried have a pressure sensor in them which relies on detecting a pressure drop from an opened faucet valve to turn on, but you never get that with a water pump.
This looks great, thanks for sharing it.
Did u use an itching primer?
How did you prep it did you use some type of etcher
So what did you have to do as far as prep work to it ?
Do you have two separate systems to heat the water? Two pumps, two heaters, 2 inlet, 2 outlet? Or is it one system with the heater daisy chained?
Hey man curious how the raptor liner is holding up on your stock tank!?
Did you use all the Raptor liner you started out with?
This looks amazing. I have a saltwater stock tank with a pool liner to protect the tank. Will this work with saltwater?
I honestly don't know but don't see why it would not work. I would actually like to try it myself.
Put a noodle around the rem..makes it nice
Great Set up!! Thanks! ,Any Stock tanks manufactures better than others,What brand do you recommend?
They are all pretty much the same quality.
@@tetradgroup Thank you!
Did you sand it first?
How's it holding up so far? Looks great!
Thanks, absolutely no issues at all. No cracking no peeling, and no fading. Just built another one from a neighbor using the same methods.
@@tetradgroup thanks spraying ours this evening. Thanks for the video!
@@tetradgroup Thanks so much for getting back to me!
@@tetradgroup which adhesion promoter did you use?
@@michaelrostis160 I used the one Raptor Liner sales on Amazon amzn.to/3NaUw29
@@tetradgroup Did you use the adhesion promoter on the whole pool or just the seems??
Do you have a link or the name of the type of clamp you used for the skimmer? I am a DIY mom chic and have this pool had a heck of a time getting the skimmer to not ride up. thanks and great job!
I used a clamp like this, tried other options but the clamp works best for me. amzn.to/31E1Z6Z
Is there any way to possibly make it bubble like a normal hot tub? I was thinking about doing one but I would like the bubble action. Thanks
The Intex jets have an aerator that can be off or on. I sometimes run with the air on.
Hello. Did the vertical wall ridges cause a leak when you installed the inlet and outlet? Thanks
@@tetradgroup ok thanks I'll play it safe and use silicone on both sides Thanks again
How is the Raptor liner holding up? How long have you had painted for? I just ordered mine. Im excited thank you so much for this video very helpful and educational! God bless!
@@myramontalvo2158 the raptor liner is holding up much better than expected. It's actually a wonderful product, absolutely love the texture and the blue color we chose. I would absolutely do it again if I built another pool.
So I used pond epoxy in my stock tank and it was not successful and ended up chipping. I bought the truck bed liner and started sanding. I’m struggling sanding off the epoxy do you think it would be ok to spray the truck bed line river the epoxy and not have it chip?
I would not double up on different material layers. I have not done the different layers, so I cannot comment on my own personal experience, but I would hate for you to put that much effort into it and not have a successful outcome. Sorry. Best of luck to you!
What sand filter system do you have?
I have the Intex 1200 GPH, great pump, highly recommend.

How much prep work is required?
@HowIDidIt How much blue Raptor Liner did it take to cover the inside? Did you use all 6 Liters?
Yes I used all six. 5 covered everything and I used the last one a little further from the surface to get a nice even consistent texture.
How much in all did you spend on all the supplies and do you have a video of building it?
Great question, I'm building another one for my neighbor and I'm doing a detailed video with cost of material. Hopefully have posted next week.
All totaled, how much are you into this setup for? Got an item by item price breakdown? Very curious…
I'm currently finishing up a video where I just built another one that breaks down price. Parts and materials for pool, pump, liner, heater setup, skimmer, about $1,800
@@tetradgroup very cool, I look forward to that video. Thanks!
Why didn’t you put the simmer on the outside of the tub?
