I'm looking at this printer as well. However given that this video is from 2014 I'm think there must be newer/better technology? The brother website still shows this as a current model. Any feed back on that? I need to replace my Epson Workforce that has clogged ink heads only after a years of use.
If you open the Box move it over 180° on the Head of the Top and then pullup the Kartonage. So the Printer is stand free in the middle on the Package Material. After this rotate it back to the Top so you handel more easyer then Brother Matthew! But Matthew i like this typ of Video i'm suprised that this Printer is so good and have a lot of Inteligent Function. Best Regards Volker King
I LOVE the printer... I've printed about 50 pages with it so far. No troubles. My only complaint is the manual feed tray is truly manual. You can only feed one sheet at a time. I've shot a handful of videos here, ua-cam.com/play/PLL6mRKcdDhIMWhk_XoUCb-M7m-cTxMKtn.html
It's not a photo printer... but that said, yes it prints great quality photos, every bit as good as my photo printer did I replaced with this. You can print either 300 dpi or 600 dpi (overkill) in settings. If you're printing all photos though you may like to look into a photo printer though. These are great a little brochures, booklets, flyers, day to day printing in high volume. Not exactly built for photos though it seems to do the trick quite well.
It has double sided print... but not double sided scan. Hope that helps. The newer version (has thicker top) does double sided print and double sided scan :)
Hi Matthew, thanks for your videos on this printer. At the 8:30 mark, you mention how to print an 11x17 on both sides by folding it. Would you be willing to do a quick video on how you do that?
+Riffman42 I don't know that I have any 11x17 paper on me right now. You fold the paper in half so it becomes 8.5 x 11 (standard paper size) and it fits right through the printer :) FYI ~ It's not terribly reliable this way, you'd need to use the manual bypass feed open the back of the printer up as well so the paper passes straight through. And no duplex / 2 sided printing as it can jam very easily doing this.
does it print out good quality photos ? and if it does I need to buy lacer glossy paper by any chance will it except hp inkjet I guess not ? MY hp inkjet broke this printer looks good .
Yeah when you said you used the vacuum to clean out cartridges i thought wow that can't be good. I highly doubt the vacuum filter can filter out those microscopic toner particles. :S
Hallo Matthew, thanks for ur helpful videos. Could u tell me if this Printer do SCAN directly to an USB-Stick or not (without PC)?
How good is the scanner ?
Scanner is everybit as good as all the other ones I've used :) It works pretty well.

Thanks for the video.
Any problems with the printer? Have you tried printing off your mobile?
Follow up video would be cool :)

Please wear a mouth mask when you refill the toner. It's very toxic! (As I am sure you know, but just saying :) )
+danobot Did not realize that... thanks for letting me know :) I do have respirators.
