The 3x1 pump isn't really all that awful. It's compact, and most designs are able to fit 2 into the allotted space for a design. I use 1x3 pumps on all my diesel engines. 2 per coolant manifold (one out, one return) and I get like 122 L/S of flow rate, and it works just fine.
yeah 122 isnt as good as you can get it though also 2 will go through more power compared to the 1 small impellor which will give you better flowrate at the same time

I get MAX 10 l/s out of the small pumps now, stuff that didn;t overheat before does now!
