Love this video. It actually bothers me how little we hear of Denis Irwin these days when talking about the best of all time. Have to assume it's because he's a defender and they typically don't get anywhere near the praise strikers do but make no mistake, when we're talking about full backs, there is none better than Irwin. Absolutely nobody. Not back then, not before hand and certainly not even today. Defensively he was almost flawless. I seriously don't think there's ever been a full back to make less errors than him. And going forward he was just as good. Very intelligent player. Quick minded, skillful, an all around brilliant footballer with a serious work rate, the type that wins trophies and he did. He's a big part of United's success in those days. He needs to be talked about more when discussing the best full backs. Irwin had it all and not enough can be said. Watch him play if you haven't. Even if you don't like United, watch Denis Irwin play. If United had him today, he wouldn't just strengthen the back line, he'd improve the whole team by a huge amount.
Overrated. Vastly.
@@johnnyrocker7495 Never in my life have I heard anyone say that but I often hear the opposite. He's shockingly underrated. Even a lot of United fans, typically those not old enough to remember him, don't give him the praise he deserves. Best Fullback in the history of English football, one of the best of all time worldwide. If you don't understand that and can't see it, I don't know what to say.
@@marleyr6512 For a man who doesn't know what to say, you sure do talk a lot.
@@johnnyrocker7495 You're so tough and clever, Mr. Johnny Rocker.
@@marleyr6512 Thanks, I appreciate that.
Dennis Irwin was the only player I honestly never even considered selling on champ.
Keano is right. He was always 7 or 8 out of 10, would have the occasional MOM and popped up with important goals that won or saved you games.
He was an absolute rock for Man Utd during their most successful period on the pitch.
I would take him over Cashley Cole every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Love that smirk at the end.
We love you 💞 Roy. Keep telling the truth
Mr reliable one of the best 🇮🇪
He's not wrong. It's hard to call him under-rated now because so many have pointed out that he was under-rated but Denis Irwin is the type of player who wins leagues. Super consistent performances, rarely injured and never made any off-field headlines.
World class no doubt about it !!
Possibly my favourite video ever
I don't think Irwin ever played a bad one. Top shelf defender who always got near his opponents. Brilliance and determination personified...
Big shout between Irwin and Cole. Cole’s was the best left back in the world for a time and constantly had a young fast Ronaldo in his pocket for fun. Hard to choose!!
Brent Meister General when did he have ronaldo in his pocket 😂😂😂
cousin leigh you must be like 15 to not know that it’s common knowledge. Ashley Cole had CR7 in his pocket a few times when England played Portugal, or Arsenal/Chelsea played Utd.
This is when CR7 said he was the toughest opponent he EVER faced.

cousin leigh and here is just one of the games so you can see it for yourself!
Hope this clarifies, you and the hangers-on who liked your ignorant comment. Seriously, are you like 14 or 15?? Everyone who watched football at that time knows Cole used to put him in his pocket!! 😂

Brent Meister General Cole was never in same league as Ronaldo they had 2 double up on him was only way they would stop him so calm down...🤣🤣u must be crazier than a shit house rat 😂
cousin leigh kids 🤦♂️
Just watch the videos and you’ll see!
Legend left back.. and right back..
Dennis really burst onto the scene
Left foot , Right Foot , Great at free kicks . Great Penalties . DENNIS IRWIN IS IN THE SQUAD FOR WORLD 11 and a Great Defender .
I'll tell you some off-the-field stuff. My dad was in Sale precinct not long ago and saw Dennis Irwin. I asked him if he said "hello", and he said yes, he let on as he passed, but he didn't stop 'cos Dennis was already chatting away with someone. "Who?" I said. "A homeless fella" my dad said. Talk about not letting success go to your head.
And the homeless fella stopped Denis to ask for his autograph.
Have to watch this once a week
Glad to hear it Jake! Make sure you subscribe to the channel to make sure you never miss any new content! ;)
These two are class.
