For FSX, I have the VRS Superbug, which is the best Hornet sim ever made. Not only does all the systems function, like the radar, weapons, etc. it has the best manual ever made. But it doesn't work in 2020 so the default hornet is the only thing available. It's such a let down. But I swear on the real one if you're in heading select mode you can go to the scratch pad, enter the heading and hit enter and it will take you to that heading. If I type 210 ENT the plane will go there. The BALT function works the same in the new one, but nothing else. Nice tutorial. Liked and subbed
Thanks! I just started flying this plane and touched every screen like a 4 year old-pressing and touching and nothing happening. Lol. I appreciate you. Cheers!
What I like about this jet the most is how easy it is to land and how you can just point into a certain direction and hit autopilot to go to that point without hitting anything. It's a really convenient jet for free flight when you don't have a specific route. You can just point in a direction, and you're there. The autopilot feature for a locked angle is extremely helpful for pointing at a runway and letting the jet go down for you. I use the f18 for a lot of my free flight. The f35 is my second favorite for following routes.
This is really helpful. It's absolutely INSANE that Microsoft don't bother including instructions for aircraft with the game. You're just supposed to guess, with a plane whose controls bear no similarity at all to a regular civilian plane.

THanks man this helped. I like how CPL mide works with the waypoint mode like it did in FSX, however it should also be implemented with ILS mode just like in FSX so you could enter an ils freq, and just switch from WPT to ILS and makes sure Coupled to ILS. It was nice in FSX
That'd be nice :-) I'm hoping they implement the CRS functionality at some point so I can cover TACAN navigation, which is supported but you can't choose your course to the station, only go directly to it.

I didn't realize it was functional, but just tried it out and it does work. On the center display, you can enter the TACAN or VORTAC channel number (as found on the sectional charts -- e.g. LAS VORTAC is channel 116). Type 116 then click "TCN". It should update to say "TCN 116". Then click TCN to go into the TACAN menu, and it seems like you need to press "116Y" so it says "116X". Then you should see the TACAN info and bearing on your HSI. If you then press "TCN" on the HSI, you can use CPL mode to fly directly to the station.

I'm surprised how well they modelled the inside - it's like better, and not quite up to the sharpness of DCS - albiet I love those electronic digital displays instead of the pushbutton "123" pannel.

Doesn't hold heading or bank, or pitch, and when I select BALT it doesn't pick the nearest 1000' alt and lock on. Even my right MFD doesn't have the menu choices yours has. Hmm. I'm wondering if your stick/yoke/controller needs a "dead zone" increase in the Controller/Sensitivity settings. If there are unintentional inputs to the pitch/roll/yaw it'll auto-disconnect the autpilot. Do you have this issue with any other autopilot?
Only way I know of is by using the AP disconnect shortcut. It's Shift+Z on keyboard by default, and most yokes/sticks have it set to a big (usually red) thumb button.

I did experiment a bit with using the GTN750 mod (since you can open it from the in-game toolbar in any plane) but wasn't able to edit the flight plan and have it stick -- it kept deleting it basically. But, simple direct-tos seemed to work fine. You can get the free version here: pms50.com/msfs/ You can also navigate via TACAN/VORTACS, but because the CRS knob isn't functional yet you can't specify your course yet.
