I watched your video without fast-forwarding, as it's really good. I would like a size comparison between 13 inch and 14 inch laptops. I have been using a 14-inch Thinkpad x1 carbon for a year now and I think the 13 inch is just too tiny for me, especially when I have to have split screens when watching a tutorial video and coding at the same time. I think Apple should stop making those 13 inch laptops if they're going to have that thick a bezel. Or stop doing it altogether because 13 inch laptops feel too cramped. I am sure you experience that when editing a video.

Typing this on an Apple MacBook Air 2018. I do have a windows computer- I find that the software integration and the overall experience is better on the MacBook Air (MacOS) although I would prefer Windows computer when I need to do engineering related topics (because MacOS just does not support the software required).
@@BLNKT. I am not having any issues- I am fully aware of the butterfly keyboard's flaws. I am also aware of the CPU throttling problems. I have already modified the parameters and the cooling capabilities of the laptop. It no longer thermal throttles and runs at an artificially limited 80 percent performance level.
Moral of the story: If you want better value: Huawei If you want thinner bezels: Huawei If you want better fingerprint scanner: Huawei If you want more power: Huawei if you edit 4K video all the frickin time: Apple If you're invested in the Apple ecosystem: Well you have no other choice. Oh wait! If you want to at least play some games: Huawei Buy the Mac if you want to spend another 1200$ as a supplemental computer to your IMac which costed you your heart & kidney.
I don't think he said 4k is the best on the macbook, he just said that even though the macbook has less powerful internals it can still handle 4k editing easily because of the optimization (He said that the macbook may not be the speediest but it does get it done), so Huawei may still be better (Not sure if that's what he meant though)

I'm all on on the Matebook. I actually own the Matebook X Pro 2018 edition. I switched from an early 2000s MBP. I have to say windows has come along way with win 10. And the Matebook is amazing! So fast and the battery lasts so long. I got the i7 512Gb version and I'm very happy with it.
I just made a complete switch from mac to matebook pro. I was tied to mac systems as well (10 years with 3 gens of MacBook). But after 2 weeks with matebook pro, I've finally untied. LOL
I currently have a MacBook Air from 2016 and I’m planning on switching to the matebook since my MacBook isn’t working properly anymore and the prices are way too high for a Mac

Hardware wise Matebook beats MAcbook pro pretty handily, especially when you need performance for your workload.

How about the trackpad? I love Macbooks because of that. Very smooth transition between windows while working. Trackpad as in, on Mac, you can use the 2-finger 3-finger swiping to minimise and switch window so I really love that. How about the Matebook Pro. And what are your views on purchasing the Matebook in the midst of all the us-huawei ban?

Last night ordered a MateBook and watching this review make me more confident about my order. Talking about ecosystem, I think MateBook works the same way if the user got a NFC equipped Huawei handset as well.

i just swithced from never having used a MAC to the macbook air 2018 and i love it, what have i been missing all this time. now i understadn why people are willing to pay more for apple products.
I am currently returning my THIRD MacBook Air due to keyboard failures. This one has the letter e, r, t, i, n and f hanging. The letters either don’t respond at all or appear on the screen two or three times while only pressing the keys once. Although Apple has a worldwide free return program running, you don’t want to return your laptop every 2 months (they put the same 3rd gen butterfly keyboard back at repairs). And yeah, the Apple ecosystem is nice, but it’s not priceless if you have to bring your laptop in for repairs every couple months, it’s worthless. I am switching to Huawei!
If you want the "mac ecosystem" just boot it with ubutnu and not only will you get the same ecosystem, but a very high customizable functions and a lot of free stuff

Just got the SP6 myself and love it. An awesome machine for what it's supposed to be. One of a kind when it comes to versatility, hence the price. Not missing TB3 at all, at least right now. Never know about the future. Would recommend it anyways.
I'm watching the video as I comment so maybe this gets answered in the video but, I own huawei devices for my phone and tablet but have an 8 year old macbook pro, the only part that hasn't made me switch to huawei for my next laptop has been my macbook's durability even though I just use it more as a desktop connected to a tv for dual screen features but I travel w my huawei tablet and have a Bluetooth keyboard, my thing is will the huawei matebook survive streaming, designing, not getting viruses etc and have that impressive durability I've experienced, also if I can get a custom spanish keyboard?

lot of things have changed since this video.. macbook airs are extremely fast now and they have touch ids too. to compete, matebooks are sold much cheaper
@@elenaringle8294 Let me correct you. I own a Matebook 13 and yes, you can get it with a touch screen. Though you can only get it with the most expensive version of the Matebook 13.
@@elenaringle8294 in Denmark it's available in 3 versions, where as the most expensive comes with an i7, touchscreen and MX150, and the cheapest is an i5, no touch and UHD 620. then there is a mid-model with an i5, no touch and an MX150.

I like the 2018 X Pro over this if I had to choose. But remember the X Pro is fanless so if you do a ton of intensive work the 13” might be the better choice for cooling.
I was so close to pulling the trigger on a Matebook or Matebook X Pro, but now I'm worried with all that is going on with Microsoft. If They indeed don't work things out, does that mean that whatever version/patch of Windows is on the machine when you buy it is what you will be stuck with forever? No software updates, no version updates, etc?
JR, What do you mean? "work things out" ... what things might you be referring to? I run several PCs that are all of different architectures and have never had a problem updating Windows versions. So I am curious.

You are correct - MS as the licensor can indeed restrict who they license to. In which case Huawei would be unable to ship with the Windows OS or upgrade etc. (depending on the language of the license). Ouch! All of this is silly, as the US pro-ports to value open markets. Sure a fingerprint reader is nice but i'd hope it could be used for bank id or authentication in other programs. Speaking for myself i barely ever restart my laptop, certainly not multiple times a day.
Word of warning, do not use Huawei share on you Matebook 13. It absolutely kills your WiFi bandwidth. I get 30Mb/s with Huawei share turned on (Phone) and full 220Mb/s when turned off...

There are some versions of Matebook 13 that are non-touch and some don't have the Nvidia graphics, just a word of caution before buying.
Mine has no touch screen and uses Amd radeon vega 8 graphics instead

Bought a macbook for their "status symbol" and their macOS. Ended up using bootcamp 95% of the time and then selling the mac for a windows laptop.
Don’t forget the MacBooks keyboard is frequently taken out by pieces of dust. Don’t buy it unless you don’t care about keyboard reliability.

People should try the MacBook keyboard for a week. You get used to it for sure.
I think this is the best laptop for my needs, but after the ban on huawei I don't know if it is too much risk to buy it...

Huawei always has great battery. Battery is small and light but efficient.
I'm watching the video as I comment so maybe this gets answered in the video but, I own huawei devices for my phone and tablet but have an 8 year old macbook pro, the only part that hasn't made me switch to huawei for my next laptop has been my macbook's durability even though I just use it more as a desktop connected to a tv for dual screen features but I travel w my huawei tablet and have a Bluetooth keyboard, my thing is will the huawei matebook survive streaming, designing, not getting viruses etc and have that impressive durability I've experienced, also if I can get a custom spanish keyboard?
i have exactly the same concern ..im still not decided yet whether to go for MacBook air 2018 or HUAWEI matebook 13 ...im also 8 years user for Macbook Pro ( mid 2012 ) . i neeeeeed help :)
Fayez AL-Shehri I've realized the matebook x pro is most similar to the MacBook pro when it comes to capabilities, that's why the air is getting compared to the matebook pro in this video

Yes my first 13” MacBook Pro with Touchbar had many issues. My 15” MacBook Pro 2018 now has a on off stuck spacebar.

Ooh that’s a good way to look at it but really the lack of power on the MacBook Air really would give it a disadvantage.

if you can afford a Macbook Pro, you can afford a Matebook X Pro or Dell XPS 13 - you're only gonna get 8gb of ram with the matebook 13

I did not see one place where the Mac won! I bought a MacBook Air recently as my only laptop and I regret it. Windows have developed amazingly. Planning to sell the Mac to buy a window now. Overall nice 👌 video! For those reading this, don't but 🍎!

Cosmina Olteanu it entirely depends on your usage, i have the i5 version and it is pretty great. if youre into programming though, push towards the i7, ither than that the i5 is just fine

Cosmina Olteanu not at all, it is perfect, battery lasts for 6/7 hours, but it does not matter the charger is portable type C. Huawei have been smashing it mate.

@@vishwadeepbalyan9809 well, you can if you do light browsing, social media and movies. I have not tried to push it to its limit coz I dont need to. One thing I have noticed though, the fan is frequently turning on when im doing opening multiple windows

lot of things have changed since this video.. macbook airs are extremely fast now and they have touch ids too. to compete, matebooks are sold much cheaper

@@elenaringle8294 Let me correct you. I own a Matebook 13 and yes, you can get it with a touch screen. Though you can only get it with the most expensive version of the Matebook 13.

@@elenaringle8294 in Denmark it's available in 3 versions, where as the most expensive comes with an i7, touchscreen and MX150, and the cheapest is an i5, no touch and UHD 620. then there is a mid-model with an i5, no touch and an MX150.

the x pro i believe still has some build quality issues, track pad being one. The 13 is limited to 8 gb ram, not sure if there is a 16gb option.

I like the 2018 X Pro over this if I had to choose. But remember the X Pro is fanless so if you do a ton of intensive work the 13” might be the better choice for cooling.

I was so close to pulling the trigger on a Matebook or Matebook X Pro, but now I'm worried with all that is going on with Microsoft. If They indeed don't work things out, does that mean that whatever version/patch of Windows is on the machine when you buy it is what you will be stuck with forever? No software updates, no version updates, etc?
JR, What do you mean? "work things out" ... what things might you be referring to? I run several PCs that are all of different architectures and have never had a problem updating Windows versions. So I am curious.

If that's the case, wouldn't that essentially mean that their license contract is out of support and no longer eligible to receive updates? I hope that's not the case, so I'm hoping someone can clarify the situation if I don't have the correct understanding.
J-Rod26 regardless of the direction of the future with US-China trade war, Huawei will be the safest bet for a long term value deal. Apple is falling short on all areas and when giants fall....
@@jasecola JR, right you are. I was unaware of the licensing dispute and took your prior comment to mean something to do with the hardware or firmware. You are correct - MS as the licensor can indeed restrict who they license to. In which case Huawei would be unable to ship with the Windows OS or upgrade etc. (depending on the language of the license). Ouch! All of this is silly, as the US pro-ports to value open markets. I will have to do some digging - thanks for the comments.

The US last month added Huawei to its "entity list," and President Donald Trump signed an executive order essentially banning the company in light of national security concerns that Huawei had close ties with the Chinese government._ So, it appears this was not a MS thing, but something driven by the Trump fight with China.... I went to the MS store and they are indeed selling the MatebBook ... It is a real shame that Trump is willing to affect industry for no real reason, just posturing. I hope you and yours are well.
Sure a fingerprint reader is nice but i'd hope it could be used for bank id or authentication in other programs. Speaking for myself i barely ever restart my laptop, certainly not multiple times a day.
Most of the banking apps that I use utilize my laptop's fingerprint sensor.

Word of warning, do not use Huawei share on you Matebook 13. It absolutely kills your WiFi bandwidth. I get 30Mb/s with Huawei share turned on (Phone) and full 220Mb/s when turned off...
