Today on Run Adventurer, we’re at Rudyard Lake, north of Leek in Staffordshire. In fact its only just over the border from Cheshire, I headed in from Astbury/Congleton and down Dial Lane / Beat Lane towards Rushton Spencer, the turn off right for the car park is just before the Leek road.
What a beautiful spot at 4.4 miles to do a circuit its not too far and for those with kids, why not take the miniature steam train and have a shorter walk.
    History
The reservoir was created in the 18th Century to supply water to the Caldon Canal and the Churnet Valley Railway line ran along the side of the lake.
A map and directions to parking is available at my website.

John Lockwood Kipling and Alice Macdonald first met at Rudyard Lake in the summer of 1863. They enjoyed their trip to the lake that much they decided to name their son after it, Rudyard Kipling. It’s a beautiful place.
