    Idli is a traditional breakfast recipe, which can be called king of breakfasts, usually prepared at every home. Today we present how we prepare idli at our home. And also a mixed vegetables sambar which can be best combination with the idli. We used bowls here. Minimum 8 hours of fermentation is required to make a perfect tasty idli. Grind the urad dal batter and rice batter separate and mix both then ferment for 8 hours. Next pour the idli and cook for 1/2 an hour. One of the best breakfast in the world.
    Ingredients :
    For Idli :
    Urad dal 250 grms
    Raw rice 500grms
    Salt to taste
    Water
    For Idli sambar :
    Toor dal 1/2 cup
    Coconut oil 4sp
    Dry red chilli 5
    Coriender seeds 3sp
    Methi 1/4 sp
    Urad dal 1sp
    Hing
    Jeera 2sp
    Curry leaves
    Greated coconut 1cup
    Salt to taste
    Jaggery
    Tamarind
    Water
    Vegetables for sambar :
    Carrot 2
    Potato 2
    Beans 75grms
    Tomato 2
    Onion 2
    Green chilli 2
    Coriender leaves
    For tempering :
    Coconut Oil 2sp
    Mustard seeds 1sp
    Dry red chilli 4pieces
    Curry leaves

    Perhaps I am the only one who brought the real GRANITE GRINDING MACHINE WITH GRANITE MORTAR and PISTLE to CANADA FROM South India when I shifted my residence .Slightly smaller than what is shown in the video which was almost Ike Industrial model ( LARGE SCALE GRINDING AS WITH CATERERS..HOTELS ETC) and not domestic model some 50 yrs back.No.lady could rotate the heavy pistle in such a wide Circumference that too with soaked grains to grind.Hence domestic ones were of some 18 inch dia not 36 inches.
    I have copper steamer too., again domestic model Traditional design with 2 layers of mould for 10 IDLIES at a time.🤣

    Whenever you use that grinding stone (which is almost in every video), it’ll drag me back to my childhood memories.
    Everyday my mum used it for everything. My sister and I used to help her after she coarse the ingredients a bit. It was so much fun and we were getting a proper workout too. We had so many older equipments in our home starting from mortar and pestle to huge grain milling stones that would take atleast two individuals to getting it rolling.
    Even it was manual labour we were so happy doing those household works. 8-10 cousins sitting on a mission to prepare the chakli flour before ganesha chaturthi, another group grating the coconuts for sweets, my mum and aunts preparing the rest of dishes for the festival. Makes me tear up sometimes.

    Soo delicious one..favourite of all times. We never bought outside sambar powder. Mother's special ingriedients and love made it more tasty.. singings devara nama our mother used to grind this in small bulb light with us sitting and writing our notes on mat(chaape)..u r bringing all our missed days back sir.     I use the same ratio for idli. But I use idli rawa instead whole rice. Idli comez suoer soft. And just before preparing we add jeera, crushed pepper, hing & 3 spns soaked channa dal to the batter. It becomes v tasty & healthy during rainy & winter seasons. For greasing, ghee is best I feel.

    Add one fist full of wet thin beaten rice while grinding...idlis' will be more fluffy.. 👍
