I definitely did not think I'd ever hear an Ernst piece by Mintz!!! Especially at the age he is now. He's always been a legend and idol of mine. I like his gritty Paganini caprice and of course the famous concerto in D played on Il Cannone! Il Cannone was in brilliant hands that night in what is now a legendary performance available to watch on UA-cam! Historic! A very important video. I have it saved. God forbid it's ever taken down!

Maestro, you are one of my biggest inspiration, you are the violonist I watch and hear the most on UA-cam when I'm driving, before / after practicing etc. You are just GREAT!!!

Bravo Mr Mintz! As always, you make playing the violin appear so very easy, as you did with the fabulous Paganini caprice recording of many years ago.

4:47 that is a bloody hard chord, and yet he grabs it bravely looking up as if it doesn't even exist. Wow.

My idol forever. I remember very well the concert in Milan (La Scala) where you played the 24 caprices, maybe it was in 1992-3. Me and a friend of mine started the trip from south Italy for hear you and after the concert we had a mouth opened for a week!!! Unbeliavable! The second concert was in Rome after many years (Beethoven concerto) with Santa Cecilia Orchestra under the direction of Luciano Berio. You played without vibrato the entirely concerto...just a little bit sometimes! Wow!! Un abbraccio Maestro!

wow, never expected to see this in my suggestion list. i think i've only seen one or two performances of any except the 6th of these studies. so this was really cool, especially from a fiddle superstar. many thanks.

Mi sarebbe tanto piaciuto suonare uno strumento e in particolare il violino, che adoro. Grazie ❤
Amo il suo suono e la sua armonia.

I thought it was a joke and maestro starts to play like he does it on his young Paganini videos. But he didn't. That wasn't a joke. That was something else.

Finally someone was brave enough to talk about the elephant in the room. Kudos to you! Someone should tell the maestro that it is time to let go of live performances. That would be the only honest thing to do.

Amazing, but why are the chords so dry. I noticed it's a trend with Mintz and also Zukerman in the later years. It wasn't like that in their youth.. I wonder what Ms Feher would say about that.
