    Tiny versions of chromosomes show up in things like birds, reptiles, and amphibians. These mysterious lint-like flecks may be the building blocks for our entire genomes.

    I think this very topic demonstrates that just because we don't know what it codes for yet, doesn't mean there's a such thing as, "objectively proven", so called, JUNK DNA, in any Genome.

    • @newq
      @newq 2 роки тому +2

      "Junk DNA" doesn't mean we "don't know what it does". It just means it's non-coding. Not making proteins because it's not between a start codon and a stop codon. It's true, however, that there are likely unforeseen functions to non-coding DNA.

    • @gsreads
      @gsreads 2 роки тому +2

      @@newq When we observe and if it doesn't do anything now, but if it might've done something in the past or is gonna be functional in the future, it is pretty much "We don't know what it does".

    • @newq
      @newq 2 роки тому

      @@gsreads You're right. I worded that poorly. I was mostly just a little annoyed by Bryan's overly dismissive tone based on a misunderstanding of what "Junk DNA" means.

    • @BryanScott21
      @BryanScott21 2 роки тому

      @@newq I wasn't trying to be "overly dismissive" of anything, nor do I have a "misunderstanding" of what junk DNA means. I know what you said is true, technically... But I also realized the very thing that, Gautaman S, said. (Which I don't feel like re-typing out.) That's all, and it's why I put "objectively proven", in there... I know the technical stuff, it's what I studied at University. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, just giving my opinion like everyone else. So, I'm sorry if you took me wrong, if it's gonna trigger folks...guess I'll delete it then, not worth the trouble.

    • @BryanScott21
      @BryanScott21 2 роки тому

      @Fk Yu Yeah that's so true! I totally agree with you. I read it, over and over, and I can see where the OP comes off a little bit dismissive, I gotta admit that to Nick Warren!
      I never intended that to be, that way tho, I just realized that the "junk" could've or probably would've coded something, at some point, history or future... Our codons can mutate and shift over the generations, proven by many examples, but the animals of the same species, in separate environments, but development of radically, separate, physical traits. Such as "cave fish" species's (didn't look up the kind). It's just what comes to mind... We don't know what the code is and/or was or maybe for. As someone who has some experience with it, it's very intriguing to me... That's why I said it in the first place, lol. Just my opinion, like everyone else man. It's cool if nobody else agrees with it, cuz it's mine.
      Anyways, Blessings to you and yours this, hopefully, better New Year!

    While mammals may be weird within the chordates for having megachromosomes, chordates would be considered weird within the eukaryotes and megachromosomes seem the norm in plants and fungi. Bacteria and archaea don't have enough genetic material in total to have a megachromosome at all.

    This confirms my theory of genome evolution. I have discovered and have verified 95% of how complex life evolved and emerged, and have discovered a few additional factors for how life emerged on Earth. I need funding to confirm and verify the final 5% so I can publish in science and medical journals. With years of searching, I cannot find the funding I need to complete the research. Someone has to know someone that can fund the research. I have fully funded the research until now. Injuries from a car crash have depleted my funds. L Davis hit me at about 35 MPH while I was stopped for a red light.

    This is probably unrelated but it's what's on my mind. My mom is 50% Greek but I'm only 4% Greek. Freaking how. She's my mom, the DNA test inadvertantly confirmed that too. I didn't think otherwise. But how do I not have more Greek. 4% of 50% seems wildly low for a parent to child.

    Mammals are also weird because of live birth. A few egg-laying animals also have, through roundabout ways, live births, but mammals are still in the minority. The majority of animals lay eggs, and then the offspring will hatch from those eggs, outside of the mother's body. But hey, our metabolism allows us to be some of the fastest (on land), strongest, largest and smartest animals on the planet. Mammals rule!

    So, there are large amounts of DNA left over from the evolutionary process that is unused in many mammals and birds. Transcription factors help tell the polymerases what segments of DNA to read. Would it be possible, if scientists were able to alter or manipulate the transcription factors into favoring ancient DNA that we could turn a chicken into a T-Rex if it were able to locate enough viable microchomosomes?

    Love your channel, but must strongly suggest you pronounce it micro-meter, not mi-crom-e-ter. The "ometer" pronuciation is for measuring devices, like speedometer, odometer, barometer, thermometer, and yes micrometer. Mi-chrom-e-ter is a device that measues small lengths. Micro-meter is a millionth of a meter. The kil-om-e-ter mispronunciation battle is lost, mostly I think due to popular sci-fi TV shows, but I will continue to pronounce it kilo-meter. (We say kilo-gram, not ki-log-ram). What would be next? Mi-lim-e-ter and cen-tim-e-ter?

      I was just thinking about viruses and how they came to be yesterday.
      I think this an interesting theory.

      It could very well be. Virus immunity helped to improve and build our own DNA through manipulation of our rDNA (or RNA can't remember) by restructuring the chromosome to benefit the cell. Viruses are very old and thrive off of animals, so they both are closely linked.

    It's pronounced micro-metre, not mike-rohm-iter. A mike-rohm-iter is a measuring tool, like a thermometer, or speedometer, or manometer...
