  • Holding onto unresolved anger is like sitting in fire and hoping those you’re mad at will get burned, but it only scorches you. Therefore, it’s imperative we foster emotional stability early on, so that we can pave the way for a future where boys can navigate life’s challenges with composure and lead lives that are happier and more fulfilling!

Unfortunately, the older you get, the harder it becomes to access those vulnerable emotions. It's almost like your heart hardens.
These kids likely experience hurt but they are easily trusting and the right person can handle it with care as they draw out those emotions and gather clarity to them in dealing with their problems.
Therapists creates similar environments of emotional safety.
The bigger difference is that their center can create Discipline and teach them how to defend themselves. The therapist (the ones who directly target adults) have to weed through their defenses before accessing that inner child.
The children are their inner child at this moment.
Doing this can change the trajectory of their entire lives for most of these kids.

You don't have to respond if you don't want to. I understand. Where are you now in life with letting go of anger brother? It's never too late to begin right where you are. Many of us agree with you, and as of 5-21-2024, there are about 10 thumbs up who have shown that they agree.
To everyone: If you're in a good place and life has taught you what these young men are learning, or if someone has shown you. You could be that man that makes a difference in another young man's life. Be a father "figure" to the fatherless, or you could be the voice of reason when there is so much chaos. There are lots of ways to get involved. You don't have to but I started at my local church as a youth leader. You don't need religion, but that made sense to me. What makes sense to you on where to jump in and help? If you truly agree that "We need men like this teaching kids." Then you are that man. For the most part, isn't that what men do? We fix things. Let's us join in and be men and help other young men out so they don't have to struggle so much as they do in life.

I get easily frustrated at a lot of things; especially small things I make a big deal of. I even read the Bible and often focus more on my emotions rather than the scriptures, it goes exactly in the direction I’m always told anger would lead me: destruction. Sometimes I say things I don’t even think of and half the time it comes from the heart and by the time I realize that, I’m stuck with that. As an adult, this video is heavily inspiring and I would highly recommend anyone going through anger to watch this.

We could even make multiple facilities if it’s ok with you throughout the country especially in low income neighborhoods. I can’t wait to donate to your cause . Children from the time they're born until the age 9 don't have an analytical mind. So a lot of the traumas they experience that causes emotional behavior, they don't have that part of their brain [analytical mind] developed to process what's happening to them. That's why most kids can't tell you where their negative emotions come from.

Growing up... Up till now... I thought it was a sin to fight back. I thought it was a sin to protect myself from those that are opposing me (attacking). I didn't like to fight. I dont like hurting people. It hurts my heart when I hurt someone else. And I want to be more like Jesus.
However, the hypocrisy is... when i was being bullied, i carried that ish in my heart, lashed (bullied) it all out on my little brother. Physically, Verbally, and emotionally. To this very day i deeply regret what i did to my brother during our childhood. We're cool, but the damage has been done. 😢😢😢
Now, I'm slowly learning that its okay to fight back and protect myself against those that mean me harm and try to attack me. I didn't know that was a part of respecting myself... I didn't know that there will be people in this world that you can't peacefully reason with... I didn't know...
Maybe now people will think twice before they even think to bring harm to me or anyone else for that matter.
And i won't have to feel the need to bottle that ish inside, and lash it out at those who never deserves it in the first place....

treat all beings with kindness, be it man or animal, including you
treat your body with kindness and your relationships
People who hurt others need to be stopped or fought in a way to stop them hurting others, a strong sentence might be enough: "Hey, treat her/him with respect!" etc or to position oneself strongly (I see you are caught up in sth negative, I will stop you if you do not stop but I mean you no harm if you let go now/leave) or at last fought (which I was not yet forced too).
It is okay to act with assertive aggressiveness in a constraint manner because it may help someone (eg. you teach through that someone to treat vulnerable/other people with respect or face consequences and offer him a chance to change)
Ask yourself where your pain, fears and weaknesses are; it is not enough to seek it outward but to understand oneself inward; how can we avoid hurting others but by living a good life and caring for ourselves and our connections?

I swear, Jason, I love you Brother! Every time I see one of your videos, it’s a lesson that I wish I had gotten/learned at these young men’s age. May God continue to bless you and I pray you have trained some successors to continue your work. Y’all need to purchase his book, Cry Like A Man, and read it or give it to a young man in your circle. Forever grateful and saluting you, Brother!!!🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡

wonderful to see these guys supporting these little dudes.
Wish I had something like this when I was his age. Instead I bottled up my anger and needed a heart transplant at 31 years old due to the drugs and alcohol I eventually used to keep pushing the growing sadness, depression and anger away.

This video just pooped into my feed and I clicked on it bc I was trying out my new earbuds…. I’m in tears now. This talk was so moving.
My husband has a lot of anger in him and I just wish that he had this when he was growing up to transmute that pain into something powerful like this. I can feel his anger is a false sense of empowerment for him and all I see is a little boy that’s hurting, but I don’t know how to help. Either way, I appreciate this little talk you gave poet. It really warmed my heart. Thank you.

80 or 90% of anger is either fear or frustration.
When I was a kid I’d get frustrated cause I didn’t know where to begin a task or was confused at the desired objective. As an adult I now realize it was my parents in that they didn’t explain, they just ordered and expected perfection. I try to explain to my kids as best I can, it’s hard when you don’t have an example to copy.
Bullying seems to have increased with the rise of social media. Frequently the victim is getting in trouble. Im finding the measures put in place when my older kids were in school 15-20 yrs ago are long gone :(

It’s so true there’s always something deeper. It’s nice these boys have you to teach them. This made me cry because I always resist my emotions and don’t always focus on what I’m really upset about. It can be easy to get caught up in feelings and react. For me alot of it is self inflicted feeling like I’m not good enough and being so hard on myself etc. My parents never showed me how to have self esteem and be emotionally mature so I’m trying to teach myself. I just wish I had someone like you when I was younger I could’ve avoided so much emotional turmoil. Sometimes I feel like I never matured emotionally and don’t know how to be a strong woman. But this was definitely inspiring ❤

This is so good for these kids. I studied martial arts but it was never like this. It lacked the emotional support. I wish i had had this. That kid-- that Young Man looks so much like my Son did when he was younger. I've always tried to teach him to never let people get in his head because those voices can stay with your forever. I also taught him probably the most valuable self defense combination that can carry you through much of life...the basic jab-straight right combo.
