Harrier pilots became very skilled at using their VTOL skills in dogfights, using the jet engine to turn very tightly and fly very slowly. Move over, Cobra...
For reference, part of the issue is that when you're trying to take off, you're rotating the thrust nozzles _past_ ninety degrees. You're ramming the throttles wide open and using that thrust to _brake_

It is extremely forgiving but im most curious how it handles in sim if they modeled it correctly like dcs. Harriers are known to be EXTREMELY unstable and difficult to land/hover.
A Harrier pilot told me the HUD had two vertical lines in hover mode and if the aircraft departed left or right thru one of the lines the pilot must immediately eject - it had effectively slipped off the pillar of jet exhaust on which it was balanced and would fall straight to the ground (only ~30' below, if attempting to land)

Saw a Harrier in an airshow in 2001. The landing was insane, can't find a video of that kind of landing... the Harrier hovered over the runway about 30m high, then pitched the nose down and dropped like a leaf on to the runway and very short braking to stop. It was unbelievable, drives me crazy that I can't find a video of similar landing.
7:43 was hilarious but the airspawn "gameplay" might have actually killed me. The pure confusion was too much, I wasn't ready. Then the "get away from me" before the second one. I could barely see I was laughing so hard.

1) congrats on ONE MILLION subs! 2) there's a steam catapult on the launch area when you test fly the harrier so you don't actually need to VTOL off. It gets you to about 35o kmh, so you can get going much faster
As a strike fighter I love the AV-8A. Im not a good warthunder player, and the harrier is my first jet. It can't turn to well, but it can get out of its own way, the bombs do damage, and the sidewinder with the cannons make a lethal little machine in the right hands. I think its a nice jet.

The readout should be in degrees instead of percent - 0 to 98 degrees instead of 0 to 100% - that would make it more obvious what is happening.

The way harriers usually land is by flying up alongside on the port side about 50 ft above the carrier, then just hovering over and touching down
