As an older guy, let me share what I remember for the Voodoo-voodoo chant. 1995-1996 football team of Panathinaikos is eliminating one team after the other in UEFA Champions league reaching the semi-final winning the first leg game with Ajax in Amsterdam. Our coach was the "Indian" alike Argentinian Juan Ramon Rocha. They were teasing us that he was using voodoo tricks to eliminate our oponents. ...and that's how it started. The chant was our answer....

From an even much older guy. It was in 1978 or 1979. I was visiting (for one day) a children Summer Camp in Parnassos mountain. There was a somewhat peculiar kid. Later he became a Basketball journalist. Well known. Well... he kept his eyes pointing to the table and he was chanting: "Forza, Rocha, Boublis". !!!

Vildoza locked Campazzo down... He couldn't move a muscle without him being there.
Campazzo is the ultimate sucker by elbowing the opponent from the back during the rebound. When the refs caught that one, he was crying like a baby. Also flopping as if he's shot even before any contact happens. Boy he played dirty and got what he deserved.

Not everyone can win after building a completely new team that's true.
but Pao is not like Armani or Monaco who just put in money. The history/legacy of this team is very heavy. He was like a sleeping giant.
as a neutral viewer there were a lot of funny & crazy moments for me while standing next to pao fans.
for example
- how they mocked larentzakis constantly in the game for the 3d spot
- how they shouted sloouuuuukaaaaas to the oly fans
- how so many greeks echoed the name of a turkish man after the final =)

Fun fact: Larentzakis used to be a PAO fan when he was young. There are several posts on his facebook account celebrating the 2011 euroleague and some wins against Olympiacos(mocking them).

Please address the elephant in the room. Panathinaikos did all that by having a proper Greek team with Greek players, off course they were supported by skillful foreign players but that's not the case with other clubs. For example Macabi, I think that's what Euroleague needs, teams with more national players and to promote their inner talent.
Exactly, they have a nice little Greek Player Core.
Most Panathinaikos Teams usually had a few good Greek Players at it’s core. Even Oly when they won a few. This is the key to success I think 👌🏻
Olympiacos has very few national players.
But Real and Panathinaikos had some players of the country which is good since they know the importance of a club and what a game or trophy means. They will put more blood in the game.
About Macabi, it had all americans but it was great team, probably the greatest problem Panathinaikos faced and Id rather have that and have great play off series like the one we watched than not.
So is most important to develop national players yes, but if they are not developed which they should, better to have international players ans watch good basketball which makes people enjoy the league.

Ataman is not only a very good coach.. he gave a sign of a good character.
Defensive tactics of the team have at a great percentage the stamp of Christos Serelis first and Savvas Kamperidis second.. and Ataman had the guts to admit it.
Ataman is a great coach. He is the most important coach of the team and together with Sloukas the two of them put a serious mentality on the team.
Ataman's mental development this year is unmatched, it's like he was born again in Pana.

As a Fener fan, I do not think I can ever warm up to Ataman but you gotta give credit when its due. Congrats to him, to Sloukas and the whole team. It is tough to beat Madrid, they have done a great job.

i start to believe this real team is kind of mentally soft, if they can't play their dominant brand of basketball they have real problem. no hustle, no def. no confidence... collapse. like they are for easy situations (partizan last year f.ex hard team, lesort, obra) that's why they throwed in the veterans.. they're the guys there

Another thing about Sloukas is that at the beginning of the 2023-24 euro league season he was voted the most overrated player of the league at your survey with 23 Europeague players published on 24 October 2023. I think he gave some pretty convincing answers with his performances this year and off course his mvp performance in the final.

Congrats to PAO from an Oly fan. Unfortunately we always come short coz we don’t have a leader to take the ball when it matters. I love the vision Bartzokas has about team basketball but we need a ball handler that will not choke and can make the crucial shots. You can’t counter losing Sloukas and Vezenkov by signing Sikma and Brazdeikis… And now Evans injured before even signing. We got to be the most cursed team in the post-Spanoulis era.

Gytis Blazevicius, as you have pointed out in previous videos, Ergin Ataman qualifies as a manager who just recruits players and is not even qualified as a coach. Can you elaborate on how the MVP player of the EuroLeague champion invites this employee "manager" to raise the cup with him and praises him as the genius behind the success in the post-game press conference?
As a Lithuanian who obviously followed Zalgiris during Jasikevicius era, I really got used to Saras’ emphasis on details & system, stories of his video sessions taking 45 min to an hour, where the coaching staff would load up players with a lot of info on their opponents. So my understanding of a good coach comes from that perspective. Now when we talk about coach Ataman, he doesn’t necessarily have the strictest system of how the team should play, he also either doesn’t do video sessions or they are as simple as “here’s the game, watch and learn”. This is not an opinion, this is the players being vocal about it. Now, do I think “system” & pre-game scouting is the only thing that makes a coach great? Hell no, and that’s what I said in today’s podcast too. Hopefully that makes it clearer where I come from.

As a turkish basketball lover watching international basketball since late 80s, this years pana story was very special and I enjoyed witnessing it. Especially macca series was amazing.
Speaking about the organization of Euroleague, there was a time not long ago, when Dimitris Giannakopoulos(president of pao) was talking about Bertomeu and that on terms of finaces,ads,sponsors,bad referees and organization in general, it is veeery far behind and creates problems in the teams.I remember, everyone was mocking him.Now, it turns out he was right.
Unbelievable that the winning team only is rewarded with around 3 million€.Imagine someone paying 20-30-35 mil € and only takes at most 5 mill back.

It was all about psychology. Panathinaikos hustled like mad, took no shit, and persevered. With 8.000 crazy Greeks on their side and the Eye of the Tiger they had, it was impossible to lose.

This Real Madrid team is like the baddies in Rocky movies. Before they fight Rocky they go around demolishing everyone in the most brutal way. Then, the time for the Rocky fight comes, and for the first couple rounds they have him on the ropes and at round three they receive a massive punch on the head and you can see them gradually falling apart until the inevitable KO at round twelve.

Also we should say congrats to our "enemy" Olympiakos for the fight he gave and the 3rd place . Both top Greek teams finished in the podium and from a small country of 8-9 m people population . The future is bright for our basketball , and futurewill always have our names written there.
I will agree that the F4 organisation was very bad this year. Euroleague its trying to find its identity in the after Bertomeou era. I hope that Dejan Bodiroga learns fast and fixes his mistakes. All PAO fans are eager to see the new post-Bertomeou era.
